Cardinals | Cards could use two RBs at a time

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 19:11:17 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson is expected to get a lion's share of the work, but RBs Chris Johnson and Andre Ellington each have skillsets which could help the offense. In fact, head coach Bruce Arians hinted Tuesday, June 7, that two backs could be on the field at the same time. "When I first came here, that's something B.A. told me he wanted to do," Chris Johnson said. "It started off with me getting here late (in training camp), then Andre getting hurt early and me getting hurt. It was hard to get two of us on the field at one time, but that's something we've really been working hard on."

Fantasy Tip: The Cardinals have three talented backs, but David Johnson is the one you'll want to pick first on draft day, with CJ2K as a pick for depth and Andre Ellington as a reserve in PPR formats.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson could start for Arizona

Tue, 31 May 2016 16:54:18 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson could claim the starting job in Arizona's backfield despite head coach Bruce Arians claiming that RB David Johnson is the bell cow back, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Josh Weinfuss.

Fantasy Tip: Make no mistake -- David Johnson is the running back to own in Arizona. He has top-five running back potential even with the other Johnson splitting touches with him. As for Chris Johnson, he has RB4 upside in PPR formats if he can stay healthy.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson likes RB tandem

Sat, 28 May 2016 07:04:49 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson said he believes he and RB David Johnson can be the best running back tandem in the NFL. David Johnson said Chris Johnson has helped him become a more patient running back.

Fantasy Tip: David Johnson probably will receive a majority of the work at running back, but Chris Johnson will also be involved in the running game. Both running backs should be owned in fantasy leagues, but David Johnson should be a weekly starting option.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson not worried about role

Sat, 02 Apr 2016 17:33:01 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson said he believes head coach Bruce Arians will know how to make sure both he and RB David Johnson receive touches. "Not sure how things are going to go, but I'm pretty sure we'll have a nice one-two punch," Chris Johnson said.

Fantasy Tip: David Johnson is expected to be the lead back, but Chris Johnson could still make a solid RB3 in PPR formats. At the very least, CJ2K is a must-own player in case David Johnson struggles or suffers an injury.

Dolphins | Miami eyeing Ezekiel Elliott?

Fri, 18 Mar 2016 18:16:41 -0700

Ohio State RB Ezekiel Elliott is being considered as an option for the 13th overall pick by the Miami Dolphins, who missed out on Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson and Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson in free agency.

Fantasy Tip: Elliott has the all-around game to thrive in Adam Gase's offensive system, and he could provide RB2 value as a rookie. If Miami does use a first-round pick on Elliott, Jay Ajayi would no longer be a starting-caliber fantasy back.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson returns to Cards

Thu, 17 Mar 2016 12:39:02 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson re-signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals Thursday, March 17, according to a source. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: CJ2K was having a nice rebound season in Arizona before fracturing his tibia in Week 12. Timing is everything, though, and David Johnson took the primary backfield role and ran with it. Heading into 2016, the Cardinals will continue to use the versatile and explosive younger Johnson as their primary back, and Andre Ellington remains in the picture, as well. That means Chris Johnson will likely battle for touches as a third-down option with Ellington. He could be a useful RB3 in point-per-reception leagues, but that'll be his ceiling now that he's 30 and coming off a serious injury.

Dolphins | Chris Johnson likely to pick soon

Wed, 16 Mar 2016 18:58:15 -0700

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Cardinals) visited with the Miami Dolphins, and he is expected to pick between the Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins. Other teams have requested visits, but he is unlikely to make them at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson would have a chance at major carries and yardage in Miami, as Lamar Miller is now on the Houston Texans and the team needs someone to shoulder the load. A return to Arizona would mean a timeshare, at best, with David Johnson, among others.

Cardinals | Arizona still in mix for CJ2K

Wed, 16 Mar 2016 18:57:40 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Cardinals) visited the Miami Dolphins this week, and he is expected to select between his old team, the Arizona Cardinals, and the Miami Dolphins soon. Other clubs have requested a meeting, but he is unlikely to make them at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson resurrected his career in Glendale last season, but David Johnson emerged as a star once Johnson went down. At best, CJ2K would be in an even carries split with Johnson. He would likely have a better chance to shoulder more of the load in Miami, so it remains to be seen how his fantasy value will shake down until he makes a decision. He'll have more appeal in South Florida.

NFL | Two finalists for Chris Johnson

Wed, 16 Mar 2016 17:28:30 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Cardinals) is expected to sign with either the Arizona Cardinals or Miami Dolphins. Johnson has received interest from other teams but is not expected to make any more trips.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson probably will make a decision in the near future, but he probably will not be a starter with either team. Johnson could be a third-down back with whoever he signs with, which will give him some fantasy value. Owners could consider him a No. 3 running back in most leagues, but Johnson probably will not be a weekly starting option.

Dolphins | Chris Johnson visiting Miami

Wed, 16 Mar 2016 08:41:34 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Cardinals) is visiting with the Miami Dolphins Wednesday, March 16.

Fantasy Tip: Does CJ2k have another "prove them wrong" season left in him at 31? It's questionable. He'll be an RB3 consideration in fantasy most likely.
