NFL | Chris Johnson working out

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 16:46:56 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (shoulder) has been working out even though he was shot in the shoulder during a drive by shooting last month. Johnson has received interest from several teams.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has not signed with a team at this point and may have wait until after the draft to find a new team. Johnson likely will be a backup next season and may not be worth a drafting in leagues next season.

NFL | Chris Johnson won't face charges

Thu, 12 Mar 2015 12:31:12 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Jets) will not face charges after being arrested on a misdemeanor weapons charge. Angela Starke, a spokeswoman for the state attorney's office in Orlando, said "the evidence was not suitable for prosecution." Johnson was also shot in the right shoulder in a separate incident during a drive-by shooting in Orlando earlier this month.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson continued to be a disappointment with the New York Jets last year sharing time with Chris Ivory in the backfield. He averaged 4.3 yards per carry on 155 attempts for 663 yards and just one touchdown. It was the first time in his career he failed to reach 1,000 yards rushing. His offseason off-the-field exploits won't endear him to many NFL teams, either. Johnson may be a late-round flier for running back depth in really deep leagues in 2015, but nothing more.

NFL | Chris Johnson released from hospital

Mon, 09 Mar 2015 11:13:36 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Jets) was released from the hospital Monday, March 9, according to a source. Johnson was shot in the arm and is now at home resting. He did not have surgery.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Johnson will be good to go for offseason activities, although he still needs to find a team. If/when he does find that team, he will probably have no more than a complementary role and would probably be a flex option.

NFL | Chris Johnson injured in shooting

Sun, 08 Mar 2015 10:12:14 -0700

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (shoulder) was shot in the shoulder during a drive-by shooting in Orlando Sunday, March 8. Johnson was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson likely will need time to recover from his injury, so he probably will sign with a team later in the offseason. Johnson likely will not find a starting job but could find a solid backup job with a team. He could be an option in the later rounds of drafts depending on his role with his new team.

Jets | Chris Johnson expected bigger role

Mon, 16 Feb 2015 15:24:54 -0800

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Jets) said he expected to have a bigger role with the New York Jets this past season but saw his playing time decrease as the season went on. Johnson said he sat down with former head coach Rex Ryan to talk about his role with the team but was never given the chance to show his talent.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson likely will join a team as a backup this offseason and see limited touches next season. Johnson could be an option in the final few rounds of fantasy drafts depending on which team he joins but will not be a weekly starting option.

Jets | Chris Johnson leaving helps salary cap

Sat, 14 Feb 2015 12:06:58 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson's option not being exercised will save the team $3.5 million in salary cap space, adding to the $45-50 million they have already.

Fantasy Tip: As previously stated, a change of scenery will probably be good for Johnson, who had the worst season of his career in 2014. Although, Johnson could very well still be part of a committee approach with his next team.

Jets | Chris Johnson to hit free agency

Sat, 14 Feb 2015 11:36:41 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson's option will not be exercised, as expected. Johnson will become a free agent.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson had the worst season of his career in New York in 2014. It's hard to believe the change of scenery will be anything but good for Johnson, who ran for just 663 yards and one touchdown last season.

Jets | Chris Johnson expected to be cut soon

Sat, 14 Feb 2015 07:16:06 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson is expected to be released in the next few days, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson could join another team this offseason but likely will be a backup running back at this point and will have limited fantasy value. Chris Ivory could become the Jets' top running back and could be a low-end No. 2 running back if he wins the job.

Jets | Chris Johnson expected to be released

Fri, 16 Jan 2015 16:11:38 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson, who had just 663 rushing yards this year, is expected to be released this offseason. Johnson is due to make $4 million in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson was another big disappointment this season for those that took at chance on him as a sleeper running back. There's always hope that he can regain some steam with a new team in 2015, but the likelihood of that happening now is remote. Consider Johnson more of a bench player for fantasy football squads next season.

Jets | Chris Johnson probable

Fri, 26 Dec 2014 13:40:29 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (knee) fully practiced Friday, Dec. 26, and is probable for Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson did go over 100 yards the last time he faced the Dolphins, but there are probably better options available to you in FantasyScore this week. Look elsewhere.

Jets | Chris Johnson fully practices

Thu, 25 Dec 2014 14:20:05 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (knee) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson had a season-high 105 rushing yards against the Miami Dolphins in Week 13, but still isn't a strong FantsyScore play this weekend. Johnson has only received 20 carries over the past two weeks, and he has only caught three passes in his last four games.

Jets | Chris Johnson takes part in practice

Wed, 24 Dec 2014 13:45:23 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (knee) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Dec. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has been receiving more carries over the last month and rushed for 105 yards the last time he played the Miami Dolphins. Johnson ($5,555) probably is not the best option for owners on FantasyScore since there are better options for owners to use.

Jets | Chris Johnson will play against Pats

Fri, 19 Dec 2014 14:28:08 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (knee) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 19, and is probable for Week 16 against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($3,200) remains unimpressive at FantasyScore while being behind Chris Ivory in the backfield. Also, the matchup against the Patriots could feature plenty of passing from the Jets offense. Johnson is a deep flex play, at best, in daily games.

Jets | Chris Johnson a full participant

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 13:57:52 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (knee) participated fully in practice Thursday, Dec. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has a terrible matchup and is still splitting carries with Chris Ivory. It's best to stay away from him on FantasyScore even at $3,200.

Jets | Chris Johnson fully practices

Wed, 17 Dec 2014 13:20:20 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (knee) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($3,200) still isn't worth a lineup spot while splitting carries with Chris Ivory, especially facing a New England Patriots defense that has allowed just five rushing touchdowns to running backs.

Jets | Chris Johnson probable

Fri, 12 Dec 2014 13:50:48 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (knee) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 12, and is probable for Week 15 against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($3,400) looks like a perfect sleeper selection on the surface at FantasyScore going against his old squad, who've been brutal against the run this year. However, remember that Chris Ivory ($4,300) is still in the lead in this backfield.

Jets | Chris Johnson a full go

Thu, 11 Dec 2014 13:50:59 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (knee) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($3,400) is going against his old team in the Tennessee Titans this week. He's been looking better in recent weeks, but Chris Ivory ($4,300) remains in front of him for touches. Still, if there was a week to take a chance on him at FantasyScore as a cheap flex option, this might be the time to do it.

Jets | Chris Johnson a full participant

Wed, 10 Dec 2014 13:09:19 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (knee) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: While Johnson has performed better of late, he's still not worth starter consideration in seasonal or daily leagues as long as Chris Ivory is also in the mix.

Jets | Chris Johnson a full go

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 11:28:17 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (knee) fully practiced Friday, Dec. 5, and is probable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson will cost $3,300 in FantasyScore this week, but there may be better options available to you, especially with Chris Ivory still ahead of Johnson on the depth chart.

Jets | Chris Johnson practices in full

Thu, 04 Dec 2014 14:37:34 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (knee) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($3,300) had a season-high 17 carries for 105 yards in Week 13 as the team was heavily committed to the run. If you're willing to roll the dice that the Jets employ that same strategy against the Minnesota Vikings, you may have a steal on your hands at FantasyScore, but just remember that Chris Ivory ($4,300) remains the lead dog in this backfield.

Jets | Chris Johnson practices fully

Wed, 03 Dec 2014 13:11:47 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (knee) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Even after a successful outing last week, Chris Ivory is still the team's lead back and Johnson isn't worth starting in lineups unless it's to provide value at other positions.

Jets | Chris Johnson tops 100 yards

Mon, 01 Dec 2014 20:51:20 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson had 17 carries for 105 yards in the team's 16-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins Monday, Dec. 1. His 17 carries were a season high, and he topped 100 yards for his first time with the Jets.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ripped off a 47-yard run early, and he continued to be effective throughout the game. However, Chris Ivory also carried the ball 16 times so don't expect Johnson to suddenly become the lead back going forward.

Jets | Chris Ivory, Chris Johnson probable

Sat, 29 Nov 2014 11:36:30 -0800

New York Jets RBs Chris Ivory (shoulder) and Chris Johnson (knee) are listed as probable for Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Neither running back is worth a start this week as the Miami Dolphins have allowed just five rushing touchdowns to running backs this year.

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 28.

Jets | Chris Johnson to work on third downs

Mon, 24 Nov 2014 14:39:21 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson will receive work on third downs, because RB Bilal Powell (illness) has been declared inactive for Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson could be more involved in the passing game since he will be on the field on third downs, but owners should not expect big numbers from Johnson. Johnson will be facing a tough Buffalo Bills defense.

Jets | Chris Ivory, Chris Johnson probable

Sat, 22 Nov 2014 18:17:41 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (shoulder) and Chris Johnson (knee) are both listed as probable for the team's Week 12 game Monday, Nov. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Neither Ivory ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) nor Johnson ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is a great play at FantasyScore against a solid Buffalo run defense, but if you have to play one of them, Ivory is the preferred option.

Jets | Chris Ivory, Chris Johnson practice fully

Thu, 20 Nov 2014 13:22:33 -0800

New York Jets RBs Chris Ivory (shoulder) and Chris Johnson (knee) both practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Nov. 20.

Fantasy Tip: The Buffalo Bills have been pretty stout against the run for much of the year, minus the last four weeks, when they've allowed four rushing TDs. Ivory ($4,300) could put up nice numbers at the end of the day, while Johnson ($3,400) is more of a risk.

Jets | Chris Johnson a full go

Wed, 19 Nov 2014 13:19:08 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (knee) practiced in full Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson was starting to be more involved in the offense before the team's bye. That could continue, but the Buffalo Bills pose a stiff matchup for Johnson and the Jets' backfield, making him a weak FantasySccore investment at $3,400.

Jets | Chris Johnson hopes role increases

Fri, 07 Nov 2014 14:56:47 -0800

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson hopes to see his role continue to increase after more than 100 combined yards in Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said the team likes to pair Johnson and RB Chris Ivory in a rotation depending on the game situations. "I think it's important for any running back to be able to get carries early and get consistent carries," Johnson said. "I don't think there's any running back out there that can get a couple carries and really be successful without being able to get in a rhythm."

Fantasy Tip: It was nice to see Johnson more involved in Week 9, but it's anyone's guess as to whether the Jets will give him an opportunity to repeat that performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The matchup is nice, making Johnson ($3,400) at least semi-intriguing at FantasyScore as a cheap flex option.

Fri, 31 Oct 2014 13:26:44 -0700

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (ankle) practiced in full for the third straight day Friday, Oct. 31, and is probable for Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has quickly faded into obscurity behind Chris Ivory in this backfield. You shouldn't even consider Johnson for your FantasyScore lineups until New York can find ways to get him involved.

Jets | Chris Johnson frustrated with role

Thu, 30 Oct 2014 15:02:20 -0700

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson, who carried the ball just three times for seven yards in Week 8, said he's frustrated with his limited role in the offense. "This is the first time I've ever felt this type of frustration, but there's nothing I can really do about it right now," Johnson said. Johnson and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg discussed the possibility of expanded his role two weeks ago, but that hasn't come to fruition. Head coach Rex Ryan insisted that Johnson isn't being phased out of the offense.

Fantasy Tip: Until we see the Jets involve Johnson more in the offense, it's not wise to go with him in your FantasyScore lineups.

Jets | Chris Johnson practices fully

Thu, 30 Oct 2014 14:21:59 -0700

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (ankle) participated fully in practice Thursday, Oct. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson still isn't worth starting in seasonal or daily leagues. He's been much too inconsistent coming off the bench.

Jets | Chris Johnson unhappy with role

Thu, 30 Oct 2014 08:12:27 -0700

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson said he is frustrated with his small role on offense as well as the team's struggles. "Of course I'm frustrated," Johnson said. "On top of having a limited role, not playing as much as I want to play and then on top of that we're 1-7. It's frustrating." Johnson received only 16 snaps in the team's Week 8 game. He rushed for seven yards on three carries and caught two passes for 13 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has not done a lot this season and has been part of a committee at running back. Johnson has a price of $3,400 on FantasyScore, but owners should be able to find a better option.

Jets | Chris Johnson a full go

Wed, 29 Oct 2014 14:12:55 -0700

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (ankle) practiced in full Wednesday, Oct. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has become an afterthought in this backfield; he had just three carries for seven yards and two catches in Week 8. He isn't even worth his cheap FantasyScore price of $3,400 (6.8% of cap).

Jets | Full practice for Chris Johnson

Thu, 23 Oct 2014 11:21:21 -0700

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (ankle) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson will play in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills. However, he's clearly the second option in the running game behind Chris Ivory, and the Bills have been great at stopping the run this year. Avoid Johnson's $4,200 FantasyScore salary.
