Washington Redskins impending free-agent TE Fred Davis was arrested Thursday, Feb. 20, and has been charged with driving under the influence.
Fantasy Tip: As a soon-to-be free agent, Davis' indefinite suspension and DUI arrest are likely to make it extremely tough for him to find a suiter on the open market. This could easily be the last we see of Davis in the NFL.

Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis is seeing more playing time with TE Jordan Reed (concussion) sidelined, and Davis caught his first touchdown pass of the year in Week 15. Davis has three catches in the last three games but didn't have a catch prior to that since Sept. 15.
Fantasy Tip: Davis should continue to see more snaps this weekend with Jordan Reed (concussion) still ailing. However, Logan Paulsen will be involved in the game plan, too, limiting Davis' appeal.

Davis said he does not believe he is the one to blame for his lack of playing time. "No, I don't feel that way. I feel like, if anything, I came back here for less money. I'm unselfish. I came back here, I worked hard off an Achilles injury, played through preseason, didn't ask for no days off. I don't know. I don't see where it could be my fault."

Wed, 30 Oct 2013 15:26:21 -0700
Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis believes he's lost playing time to TE Jordan Reed for financial purposes. Davis has a $500,000 clause in his contract that is tied to the number of games he's active, and he's been listed as inactive three times this year, twice when healthy. Head coach Mike Shanahan denies that is a reason for the team straying from using Davis. TE Logan Paulsen, who is the team's best blocker, is even ahead of Davis on the tight end depth chart. "I like it here. I was drafted here," Davis said. "But at the end of the day, I just want to play. If I can't play here, then I did want to play somewhere else." Shanahan cites Davis' poor work ethic as one of the reasons he's lost playing time.
Fantasy Tip: At this point, chances are extremely remote that Davis works his way back into enough playing time to be considered in fantasy circles. Reed looks like a much more physical and dynamic pass-catching tight end.

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (thigh) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 11, and is probable for Week 6.

Wed, 25 Sep 2013 15:40:41 -0700
Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (thigh) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 25.
Fantasy Tip: The Redskins are non-committal about the chances of Reed playing this weekend, so you'll have to monitor his progress as the week goes on. If he doesn't play, Davis' value will go up against the Oakland Raiders.
Wed, 25 Sep 2013 15:38:42 -0700
Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 25.
Fantasy Tip: High ankle sprains usually take some time to recover from, but Davis' doesn't appear to be too serious. However, the emergence of Jordan Reed has limited Davis' snaps early this year. For now, consider Davis a weak backup TE.
Wed, 25 Sep 2013 09:23:43 -0700
Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis (ankle) said he is dealing with a high ankle sprain but is planning to play Week 4.
Fantasy Tip: Davis missed the team's Week 3 game because the injury and likely would be limited if he does play Week 4. Davis should not be a consideration for starting lineups this week and could be dropped if there are better options available in leagues.

Fri, 20 Sep 2013 14:16:41 -0700
Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed, who has caught eight passes in two games and is tied for second on the team in receptions, is looking for like the pass-catching tight end that the team drafted him as with extra practice time. Reed played the most snaps of any other tight end on the team (29) in Week 2 against the Green Bay Packers and has only 10 fewer snaps than TE Fred Davis this year. Davis wasn't used as much in the second half last week in favor of Reed, but it's unclear if there will be a shift in playing time moving forward. "It's something that will be week-to-week, game-to-game," offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said. "As the game went on, we felt we had a better chance with Jordan there in the second half."
Fantasy Tip: Don't panic just yet if you are a Davis owner, but just be aware of the situation. If Reed continues to impress, there could be a shift in playing time down the road, though. Keep Reed on your radar if you're rotating backup tight ends.
Wed, 18 Sep 2013 06:22:26 -0700
Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis was benched in Week 2 because of several missed assignments. TE Jordan Reed entered the game and caught a touchdown pass. Reed played 29 snaps, which was the most of all the tight ends.
Fantasy Tip: This sounds like it could linger. Reed is a player to put on your watch list and could enter the mix as a good bye week/injury replacement.

Thu, 15 Aug 2013 15:08:46 -0700
Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis continues to look good this preseason, and head coach Mike Shanahan said he'll play roughly half of the preseason game Monday, Aug. 19.
Fantasy Tip: Davis is being undervalued as a second tight end for fantasy, probably because of his injury-prone label. If he stays healthy, he could be a nice surprise and solid red zone target for Robert Griffin III.
Wed, 14 Aug 2013 13:00:02 -0700
Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said TE Fred Davis (Achilles') likely will play around a half in the team's second preseason game. He said he is very encouraged with how Davis has looked during training camp.
Fantasy Tip: Davis is coming back from an Achilles' tendon injury but appears on track for the start of the regular season. He should be seen as a solid No. 2 fantasy tight end that could start against certain matchups.
Tue, 13 Aug 2013 21:23:58 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis (Achilles') is expected to play in the team's preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 8, against the Tennessee Titans. It will be his first game action since he ruptured his Achilles' tendon. Davis had surgery Oct. 24, 2012, to repair the injury.
Wed, 31 Jul 2013 05:30:09 -0700
Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis (Achilles') has flashed great speed and burned safeties on two separate impressive catches in camp. He said he feels great and has no soreness.
Fantasy Tip: We view him as a weak No. 1 or a solid TE2. However, he could return to the muddled midrange No. 1 form we saw in recent years. Tight end is a scarce position just begging for someone to leap into the top echelon. Davis could do such, if truly healthy.
Fri, 26 Jul 2013 13:04:39 -0700
Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis (Achilles') said he expects to be limited during training camp after returning from a torn Achilles' last season. "Since we have five tight ends, I think a lot of people are going to get a lot of reps," Davis said. "But at the same time, I think I'm going to get a lot of the first-team reps. I think the object will be for me to definitely ease myself back in but still play hard." Davis said he feels 100 percent healthy.
Fantasy Tip: Davis has had trouble staying healthy in his NFL career and hasn't lived up to his potential. When healthy, he can provide Robert Griffin III with a nice red zone target. Heading into this year, he'll be a low-end TE2.

Thu, 06 Jun 2013 11:48:39 -0700
Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis (Achilles') will not participate in the team's mandatory minicamp as a precaution. "He might be able to go next week, but I'm going to keep him away even if he wants to go," Shanahan said. "I like what I see on a day-to-day basis. You can see the explosion. I just don't want him to push against anybody right now. I just don't want to take that chance when he has an extra month-and-a-half recovery time. And so we won't push it. But if we were playing next week, I think he might be able to go."
Fantasy Tip: This sounds like more of a precaution than anything else, and Davis should be good to go for training camp, assuming there are no setbacks. If Davis can stay healthy, he should be a solid No. 2 fantasy tight end in 2013, if not better.
Thu, 30 May 2013 14:38:51 -0700
Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (knee) has begun throwing, planting his feet, and taking seven-step drops. Griffin threw to WR Pierre Garcon, TE Fred Davis and RB Roy Helu. "Those are guys we'll lean heavily on in the season," Griffin said. "I'll build chemistry with them and get a feel for how Jordan and Chris play and continue to work with Fred and get back with Pierre. He's the guy… I want to make sure me and him are on the same page. He's a big-play receiver who can do a lot of things. It's good to see him back healthy and doing a lot of stuff."
Fantasy Tip: The good news continues to roll in for Griffin as he continues to work his way back from the knee issue. While there is still a long way to go, the real test will come as training camp and preseason games approach. Continue to monitor his statues, but fantasy football players should be
Fri, 24 May 2013 11:10:41 -0700
Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis (Achilles') said he hopes to be able to participate in the team's mandatory minicamp in June. Davis has been taking part in individual drills as well as running routes and catching passes on a side field during organized team activities.
