Jets | Small role for Matt Forte

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 19:49:29 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte ran six times for 13 yards and caught two passes for 21 yards in a 23-0 loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Forte had been nursing a knee injury all week, so the limited role wasn't a big surprise. Even when fully healthy, he has been splitting time with Bilal Powell, and Forte is no more than a desperation flex play at this point.

Jets | Matt Forte will play

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 12:00:04 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) is officially active in the team's Week 14 game.

Fantasy Tip: Forte will share playing time with Bilal Powell against the Denver Broncos. He should be involved in the running and passing game this week and can be a flex option in most leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte expected to play

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 06:46:36 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) is likely to play in Week 14's game against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Forte was listed as questionable on the injury report and participated in just one practice session during the week on a limited basis. RB Bilal Powell's presence, combined with Denver's success against the run, means that Forte should be viewed as nothing more than a RB3 or flex option in most fantasy formats.

Jets | Matt Forte questionable for Week 14

Fri, 08 Dec 2017 15:38:59 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) did not practice Friday, Dec. 8, and he is listed as questionable for the Week 14 game against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Forte is a risky play for the weekend, especially with Bilal Powell healthy and ready to go. Use the veteran Forte as a RB3 or flex fantasy play in PPR leagues, and a low-end RB3 in standard play, if he is active.

Jets | Week 14 injury report for NYJ

Fri, 08 Dec 2017 15:17:54 -0800

New York Jets LB Bruce Carter (groin) did not practice Friday, Dec. 8, and he has been ruled out for Week 14 against the Denver Broncos. RB Matt Forte (knee) did not practice, either, and he is listed as questionable, while LB Demario Davis (non-injury related) did not practice and is off the report. OG Brian Winters (abdomen, ankle) practiced on a limited basis and is listed as questionable. WR Robby Anderson (hamstring), S Terrence Brooks (non-injury related), CB Juston Burris (knee), OG James Carpenter (knee), DL Xavier Cooper (knee), WR Jermaine Kearse (shoulder) and RB Bilal Powell (hamstring) each practiced in full and have been removed from the injury report.

Jets | Matt Forte wants to play in 2018

Thu, 07 Dec 2017 19:29:44 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte said he wants to return for another season in 2018. "I never question myself," Forte said. "I'm still playing at a high level when I'm able to play, and I think I can continue to do it."

Fantasy Tip: A knee injury has cost Forte some time this year, and his days as a RB1 are over. That being said, he has put up decent numbers when healthy, and he should be a solid flex option against the Denver Broncos in Week 14.

Jets | Matt Forte upgraded to limited

Thu, 07 Dec 2017 11:16:32 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Forte being upgraded lessens Bilal Powell's value. On top of that, the Denver Broncos are seventh best in the NFL in rushing yards allowed to running backs this year. Forte is merely a flex play if he's active.

Jets | Matt Forte misses practice

Wed, 06 Dec 2017 12:36:04 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was not able to practice Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Fantasy Tip: It's not crunch time for Forte's status just yet, but he has missed games this year after not practicing. If he doesn't play then Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire will man the backfield against a Denver Broncos defense that has struggled versus the run of late. Powell would be a flex play at least.

Jets | Matt Forte has solid outing

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 14:41:11 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte rushed for 58 yards on 15 carries against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13. He also caught three passes for 33 yards and one touchdown during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has been sharing playing time with the other running backs on the roster but has posted solid numbers over the last several weeks. He can be a flex option in some fantasy leagues next week because of his role in the running and passing game.

Jets | Matt Forte ready to play

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 09:03:02 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) is officially active for the team's Week 13 game.

Fantasy Tip: Forte will be part of a committee at running back against the Kansas City Chiefs but should receive a decent amount of targets during the game. He will be a risky option for owners but can be a flex option in some deeper leagues.

WR Robby Anderson (ankle), OG James Carpenter (knee), WR Jermaine Kearse (shoulder), QB Josh McCown (wrist), DT Steve McLendon (hip, neck), DT Mike Pennel (back) and DE Muhammad Wilkerson (foot) fully participated in practice and are not on the injury report.

Jets | Matt Forte limited

Fri, 01 Dec 2017 15:32:21 -0800

Updating a previous report, New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 1, and is listed as questionable for Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Forte probably will be able to play in Week 13, but owners will need to check the inactive list to make sure. He struggled last week and probably will be part of a committee at running back if he plays. Owners probably should avoid Forte in most fantasy leagues this week.

Jets | Matt Forte questionable

Fri, 01 Dec 2017 09:34:45 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) is listed as questionable for Week 13 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Forte played for the first time since Week 9 last week and handled 10 carries, so he is expected to go in what should be a favorable matchup, although he still remains in a three-way timeshare. Ideally, owners only need to consider him as a flex option.

Jets | Matt Forte limited Thursday

Thu, 30 Nov 2017 10:56:34 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 30.

Fantasy Tip: At 4-7, it would make sense for the Jets to just shut down their veteran running back instead of risking further injury or aggravation. It's no guarantee that Forte will play, but if he does he's too risky to start.

Jets | Matt Forte rests his knee Wednesday

Wed, 29 Nov 2017 14:55:22 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 29, due to his knee ailment.

Fantasy Tip: Forte was likely just getting a mid-week veteran's rest to let his bumps and bruises have a day off. He was able to play last week against the Panthers, but he didn't do much. He faces another difficult matchup against the skidding, yet still dangerous, Chiefs in Week 13.

Jets | Matt Forte stuffed by Carolina

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 18:49:42 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte carried 10 times for just 26 yards in Week 12 against the Carolina Panthers and he did not have a reception on his one target.

Fantasy Tip: Forte was able to shake off a knee injury to play, which is the good news, but the bad news is he managed just 2.6 yards per game and his second-lowest yardage total from scrimmage. He remains nothing more than a RB3 or flex fantasy option heading into Week 13 against the Chiefs.

Jets | Matt Forte active for Week 12

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 09:08:21 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) is active for Week 12's game against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Forte had been listed as questionable on the injury report after participating in the team's two most recent practices during the week on a limited basis. He's worthy of consideration this afternoon as a flex option in deeper fantasy leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte a game-time decision

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 05:47:56 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) is considered a game-time decision for Week 12's game against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Forte is listed as questionable on the injury report and was a limited participant in the team's two most recent practice sessions during the week. He should be viewed as a risky flex option in deeper fantasy leagues if he is active. If Forte doesn't play, Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire will split carries in the backfield, with Powell being the better option for PPR formats.

Fri, 24 Nov 2017 12:46:07 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 24, and is listed as questionable for Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Forte may have a chance to play in Week 12 since he was on the field for some drills Friday, but owners will need to check the inactive list. He has played well over the last few weeks but would be a risky option if he is active this week. He could be a flex option in some deeper leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte doesn't practice

Thu, 23 Nov 2017 13:10:24 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was not able to practice Thursday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't look like Forte will be suiting up this weekend, which means Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire will comprise the two-man backfield again. Powell disappointed in his last game, but he's still a flex option at worst and has more value in PPR leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte does not practice

Wed, 22 Nov 2017 15:19:45 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Forte hasn't done much since Nov. 2 against the Buffalo Bills, and beat writer Andy Vazquez says his injury is a major concern. Fantasy owners should avoid him completely until he is healthy enough to play again. It sounds like that could be a ways off.

Jets | Matt Forte a no-go Wednesday

Wed, 22 Nov 2017 10:34:41 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has been sidelined since his two-touchdown game on Thursday Night Football in Week 9 and doesn't appear to be all that close to playing three weeks later even though the team is coming off a bye. Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire would be unexciting flex plays in Week 12 versus the Carolina Panthers if Forte cannot go.

Jets | Matt Forte a no-go for Week 10

Fri, 10 Nov 2017 09:40:58 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) has been ruled out for Week 10 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Bilal Powell will get the start in a plus-matchup and should be considered a strong fantasy RB2, while Elijah McGuire makes for a potential flex option in a change-of-pace role. Considering Forte did not practice all this week, owners cannot assume he'll be ready for Week 11. Stay tuned.

Jets | Matt Forte out of practice Friday

Fri, 10 Nov 2017 08:14:55 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) is out of practice Friday, Nov. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Forte looks doubtful to go in Week 10. Bilal Powell would be an attractive RB2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are one of the worst teams against the position the last five weeks.

Jets | Matt Forte out of practice again

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 09:06:28 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) is out of practice Thursday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: He has swelling in his troublesome knee, and he might be in danger of missing Week 10 after a big week last week. Friday will be pivotal for the RB2 in fantasy.

Jets | Matt Forte has swelling in knee

Wed, 08 Nov 2017 23:16:56 -0800

Updating a previous report, New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) is dealing with swelling in his surgically repaired right knee. He did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has only missed one game this season, but when you hear the word "swelling" in conjunction with "surgically repaired" it's a concern -- especially when you consider the team hasn't done anything since last Thursday. Keep a close eye on the situation as the week progresses and be ready to deploy alternatives if Forte has to sit this Sunday.

Jets | Matt Forte unable to practice

Wed, 08 Nov 2017 12:34:56 -0800

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has missed or been limited in practice plenty of times this season, but he has only missed one game. The veteran back has been steadily involved in the Jets' offense over the last few weeks and demands at least flex consideration with more value in PPR leagues.

Jets | Two scores for Matt Forte

Thu, 02 Nov 2017 20:56:19 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte rushed 14 times for 77 yards and two touchdowns and caught four passes for 19 yards in a 34-21 win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: It was Forte's best rushing performance of the year by a wide margin, and he found the end zone for the first time. This was probably the ceiling for the veteran, but with 29 catches on the year, he remains a viable flex option in PPR formats.

Jets | Matt Forte fully practices

Wed, 01 Nov 2017 12:09:18 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was a full practice participant Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Forte will be good to go tomorrow night, but he faces a top notch Buffalo Bills rush defense. He's mainly been involved in the passing game anyway and should only be started as a PPR flex.

Jets | Matt Forte limited Tuesday

Tue, 31 Oct 2017 15:44:19 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was a limited participant in practice Tuesday, Oct. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Forte isn't going away after dealing with an injury earlier this season too. He has played an integral role in the Jets' passing game out of the backfield even with Bilal Powell healthy, but his rushing leaves something to be desired. Forte cannot be viewed as more than a flex in PPR leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte limited Monday

Mon, 30 Oct 2017 16:20:47 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was limited during the team's walkthrough Monday, Oct. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Forte received 10 touches in Week 8 and has been involved in the passing game over the last several weeks. He will continue to share playing time with Bilal Powell but could be a flex option in point-per-reception leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte criticizes OC after loss

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 19:58:21 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte criticized the team's offensive coordinator publicly for abandoning the run during the Week 8 loss against the Atlanta Falcons. "I only had four carries this game, so I don't really think we ran the ball enough with the weather being the way it was," Forte said. He added, "It continued to rain the entire game. I think we only ran the ball 20 times. (There) should have been at least one person getting 20 carries - something like that - with the way the weather was. I thought we were going to grind them out on the ground like that, but it ended up not turning out that way."

Fantasy Tip: The Jets actually passed 37 times while running 21 times, which was surprising during a sloppy, rainy game. Forte's public criticism of the OC isn't likely to be popular with the brass, however, even if he was correct. He remains a fantasy reserve in most formats at this point of his career.

Jets | Matt Forte catches six passes

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 13:59:41 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte caught six passes for 45 yards against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 8. He also rushed for seven yards on four carries.

Fantasy Tip: Forte had a big role in the passing game over the last three weeks and has caught at least five passes in each of those games. He should be considered a flex option in point-per-reception leagues because of his role.

Fri, 27 Oct 2017 12:12:58 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 27, and is not on the injury report for Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Forte recorded 82 total yards last week and should receive a similar role against the Atlanta Falcons. Owners in deeper leagues can consider Forte as a flex option in Week 8.

Jets | Matt Forte downgraded

Thu, 26 Oct 2017 11:16:47 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 26.

Fantasy Tip: You never want to see a player take a step back in his practice participation. If Forte can get back to being full go on Friday then he can be considered as a flex, but his ceiling is greatly lowered when Bilal Powell is healthy.

Jets | Matt Forte fully practices

Wed, 25 Oct 2017 15:02:11 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has strung together back-to-back respectable performances, but he's just not doing enough to warrant starter consideration. His ceiling is much lower with Bilal Powell active, too, so don't start Forte unless you're desperate.

Jets | Matt Forte totals 82 scrimmage yards

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 18:29:26 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte rushed seven times for 41 yards in Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins while adding five receptions for a team-high 41 yards on five targets.

Fantasy Tip: Forte's toe didn't seem to bother him and he produced his most total scrimmage yardage since Week 2. Still, he hasn't found the end zone in his five games and he remains nothing more than an RB3 or flex fantasy play in leagues of 12 or more teams heading into Week 8 against Atlanta.

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 12:32:59 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, toe) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 20, and is not on the injury report for Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Forte is coming off a solid Week 6 performance but probably will lose some touches with Bilal Powell back in the lineup. Forte may still have a role in the passing game this week and could be a flex option in deeper point-per-reception leagues.

Jets | Matt Forte fully practices

Thu, 19 Oct 2017 13:26:09 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, toe) participated fully in practice Thursday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Forte's fantasy value largely depends on Bilal Powell's status and Powell's status looks promising for Week 7. New York's backfield is somewhat of a crapshoot with Powell, Forte and Elijah McGuire, so start them at your own risk. Powell does possess the most upside.

Fantasy Tip: Forte rewarded owners who took a chance on him last week in their PPR matchups, catching 8 passes for 59 yards and gaining 22 yards on the ground. Forte's rushing effort left something to be desired, but he'll be a PPR flex candidate again if Bilal Powell misses another week.
