Ravens | Ray Rice suspended two games

Thu, 24 Jul 2014 07:24:17 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice will be suspended for the first two games of the season, according to sources. The announcement is expected Thursday, July 24.

Fantasy Tip: Rice rates as a mid-to-low RB2 after he misses the first two games. Bernard Pierce will likely take over in Rice's stead and should continue to see looks when he returns. Pierce is a low-end RB3 or a good RB4.

Ravens | Ray Rice could be suspended two games

Thu, 24 Jul 2014 07:06:22 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice could just be suspended two games for his off-the-field conduct this offseason, according to Yahoo! Sports' Rand Getlin.

Fantasy Tip: That would be a moderate surprise and would moderately elevate his draft stock. He'd be promoted from a RB3 that was expected to miss four games to a mid-rate RB2.

Ravens | Ray Rice lighter, quicker

Fri, 04 Jul 2014 05:36:11 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice has lost 20 pounds since last season and has regained much of his old quickness. Last season, he lost the ability to run away from defenders because he was too heavy while struggling with hip and quadriceps injuries.

Fantasy Tip: Rice is in the RB3 range due to his likely suspension.

Ravens | Pending Ray Rice suspension may force RBBC

Mon, 30 Jun 2014 10:58:12 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice's pending suspension may cause the Ravens to take a running back-by-committee approach. RB Bernard Pierce would be the likely front runner, with RBs Justin Forsett , Lorenzo Taliaferro, Cierre Wood and Fitzgerald Toussaint in the mix.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to gauge these players' values because we don't know how long Rice will be suspended, if he is suspended. Assuming Rice does receive a three- or four-game suspension, Pierce would fall in high-end RB3 to low-end RB2 range for that period of time, while Rice's season-long value would take a big blow and spiral him into RB3 or flex territory.

Ravens | No timetable for decision on Ray Rice

Thu, 19 Jun 2014 11:19:36 -0700

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said the team has no timetable on when a decision will be announced on a possible suspension for RB Ray Rice.

Fantasy Tip: Rice, for obvious reasons, is a tough running back to rank this year until we have a better idea of how much time, if any, he'll be forced to sit out. He's also coming off the worst statistical season of his career. Rice remains a huge risk.

Ravens | Ray Rice could face lengthy suspension

Mon, 16 Jun 2014 13:57:55 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice could face a significant punishment from the NFL due to a physical altercation with his then-fiance in an Atlantic City, N.J. casino this offseason. According to sources, there is potential for more than a four- to six-game suspension.

Fantasy Tip: Rice is a midrange RB2 at this time, even without the potential of a looming suspension. The number of games docked will dictate his fantasy worth.

Ravens | Ray Rice bracing for suspension

Sat, 24 May 2014 20:40:22 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice and the team are bracing for a potential multiple-game suspension from the NFL due to a physical altercation with his wife an Atlantic City, N.J. casino this offseason. No discipline has been determined yet, but Rice is expected to meet soon with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Fantasy Tip: In similar cases, first-time offenders in domestic violence incidents such as Rice were given suspensions of one or two games. Fantasy owners will want to drop Rice a few notches on their cheat sheets once it is determined what kind of punishment is meted out.
