Packers | Martellus Bennett connecting with Aaron Rodgers

Mon, 29 May 2017 13:25:18 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Martellus Bennett has made it a priority to get to know QB Aaron Rodgers this offseason. Bennett said he's had a lot of conversations with his new quarterback and has really made an effort to simply befriend Rodgers. "I'm just trying to do my job, make sure I can keep up with [my teammates], Bennett said. "They've been doing a good job for so long, I'm just trying to get in where I fit in right now."

Fantasy Tip: Bennett played well behind and in place of Rob Gronkowski last year, finishing as a TE1 when he wasn't even technically a starter. As the clear frontrunner to start at tight end with Rodgers throwing his way, Bennett is in a prime spot to make it to TE1 territory again.

Packers | Green Bay adding Martellus Bennett

Fri, 10 Mar 2017 15:13:55 -0800

Free-agent TE Martellus Bennett (Patriots) has agreed to terms with the Green Bay Packers Friday, March 10, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Bennett struggled with some injuries last season but still finished the season with 701 yards and seven touchdowns. He should have a major role in the Packers' passing game in 2017 and can be a No. 1 tight end in all fantasy leagues.

Patriots | Martellus Bennett closes door on return

Wed, 08 Mar 2017 20:20:22 -0800

New England Patriots impending free-agent TE Martellus Bennett announced on his Twitter account Wednesday, March 8, he will not return to the Patriots in 2017.

Fantasy Tip: This news became fait accompli the moment the Patriots' trade for Dwayne Allen was announced on Wednesday. Bennett is arguably the best free-agent tight end on the market and is expected to command a fairly sizable deal, so he doesn't figure to be out of work for long. The Jacksonville Jaguars, Oakland Raiders and New York Giants are reportedly the three teams pursuing him the hardest. Any of those situations should allow him to be a low-end fantasy TE1 in 2017.

Patriots | New England wants Martellus Bennett back

Sat, 04 Mar 2017 09:41:39 -0800

The New England Patriots remain interested in bringing back impending free-agent TE Martellus Bennett. The Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders are reportedly also interested in Bennett as well.

Fantasy Tip: Bennett would almost certainly have to accept less money to stay with the Patriots than he would get from the Jaguars and Raiders, if only because New England already has Rob Gronkowski and doesn’t usually get into free-agent bidding wars. Regardless of where he lands, Bennett should be considered a low-end TE1/high-end TE2 in fantasy this summer.

Patriots | Martellus Bennett will test free agency

Tue, 21 Feb 2017 16:49:47 -0800

New England Patriots impending free-agent TE Martellus Bennett will test the free-agent market. Based on his asking price, he could be with a different team next season, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Fantasy Tip: Bennett will likely be the most coveted free-agent tight end this offseason, so he's bound to receive some attractive offers from teams other than the Patriots. Bennett was hindered by Rob Gronkowski in 2016, when Gronk was healthy, but he has proven to be a capable starter. He scored three touchdowns in one game even with Gronk active. Wherever Bennett plays and/or starts, he has TE1 potential.

Patriots | Martellus Bennett may not re-sign

Mon, 13 Feb 2017 15:39:43 -0800

The New England Patriots are interested in re-signing impending free-agent TE Martellus Bennett but may not be willing to get into a bidding war for him if other teams are interested, in the opinion of ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss.

Fantasy Tip: Bennett should receive interest from teams as long as he recovers from the injuries he suffers during the season. He should be considered a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 fantasy tight end next season depending on his role.

There is speculation the New England Patriots may use the franchise tag on TE Martellus Bennett for 2017.

Fantasy Tip: The speculation, which comes from CBS Sports reporter Joel Corry, is centered around the health of TE Rob Gronkowski. The tag amount is projected at just under $10 million. Whatever the case, Bennett rates as a solid TE1 as long as he stays in the New England system.
