Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Lovie Smith invited retired LB Brian Urlacher to visit training camp. "Brian is a family member for life," Smith said. "I've had the privilege to be around a lot of great players, any great player I've been around is always welcome wherever I am. We're trying to build something here football-wise, and I'm going to call on the Brian Urlachers of the world, and of course all our former Bucs around here. Derrick Brooks will tell you I've been in his ear quite a bit, got a chance to text with John Lynch yesterday... anytime you can have players around your current roster that have been through our system and know what it takes, it's a good thing. I will always be inviting any old player that I've been around."

ESPNChicago.com reports former NFL S John Lynch told a Chicago radio station that the Denver Broncos erred in trading QB Jay Cutler to the Chicago Bears this offseason. "This is a guy, in my mind, that's a once-in-every-15-year-type talent. He's got that kind of skill," Lynch said. "I think he'll grow into the other things. I sometimes think during this whole ordeal, they tried to paint him as a bad guy, but he's not a bad guy at all. He's got some growing up to do, but hopefully he learned something from this whole ordeal and offseason."

ESPNChicago.com reports former NFL S John Lynch said the Chicago Bears should take a long look before deciding whether they would want to pursue Denver Broncos WR Brandon Marshall. "Buyer beware," Lynch said during a Chicago radio interview. "I don't like saying (buyer beware), but you've got to call a spade a spade, and I think it's a dangerous proposition. I don't think you'll see the Broncos sign him to a long-term deal, because right now the behavior he's demonstrated off the field, I don't think you'd feel comfortable doing anything long term...I think at a certain point you've got to say this guy's got some issues that he's got to work out before you can trust him."
