Tue, 13 Mar 2018 14:49:05 -0700

Free-agent RB Jonathan Stewart (Panthers) is expected to sign with the New York Giants, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart could receive a majority of the carries for the Giants but likely will be part of a committee at the position. He could be a No. 3 fantasy running back in standard leagues.

Giants | Jonathan Stewart will meet with Giants

Mon, 12 Mar 2018 13:04:04 -0700

Free-agent RB Jonathan Stewart (Panthers) is expected to visit the New York Giants Tuesday, March 13, according to a source. Stewart's old offensive coordinator in Carolina, Mike Shula, is the Giants' offensive coordinator.

Fantasy Tip: The Giants have a need at running back and the connection with Shula would make a reunion even more logical. Stewart is almost exclusively a short-yardage running back at this point in his career, though, and cannot be drafted as more than a flex wherever he ends up.

Mon, 12 Mar 2018 09:15:41 -0700

Free-agent RB Jonathan Stewart (Panthers) is scheduled to meet with the Detroit Lions Monday, March 12, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart probably will not be able to find a starting job in free agency but could be a solid contributor in running back committee. He can be considered a No. 3 or No. 4 in standard leagues next season.

Seahawks | Jonathan Stewart visiting Seahawks

Thu, 08 Mar 2018 08:32:05 -0800

Free-agent RB Jonathan Stewart (Panthers) is visiting the Seattle Seahawks Thursday, March 8.

Fantasy Tip: J-Stew still has some RB4 value. The Seahawks could be an option to bring him the most fantasy value as a short-yardage, goal line back.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart released

Wed, 28 Feb 2018 08:31:42 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart was released Wednesday, Feb. 28.

Fantasy Tip: J-Stew is extremely long in the tooth for a running back, but he could be a serviceable short-yardage back. He offers little upside in fantasy but could be an RB4 for depth.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart runs for 51 yards

Sun, 07 Jan 2018 17:14:07 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart ran 11 times for a game-high 51 yards in the NFC Wild Card Game on Sunday, Jan. 7, against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart rolled for 680 yards and six touchdowns on 198 attempts, sharing the load with rookie Christian McCaffrey this season. The future is McCaffrey, a high-round pick, and Stewart's future in Charlotte is certainly murky at this point.

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (back) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 5, and is not on the injury report for the Wild Card playoff game.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart practicing

Thu, 04 Jan 2018 08:38:00 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (back) is practicing Thursday, Jan. 4.

Fantasy Tip: J-Stew had 23 rushes for 102 yards and a score in two games against the New Orleans Saints this season. He wasn't used a lot down the stretch, and the Saints could keep the Panthers passing often. So Stewart is a meager flex option in playoff leagues.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart limited

Wed, 03 Jan 2018 14:55:24 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (back) was limited during practice Wednesday, Jan. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart was not able to play in Week 17, so owners should check on his status later in the week. He probably will receive most of the carries if he plays but should only be considered a flex option in standard leagues.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart expected to 'be fine'

Mon, 01 Jan 2018 10:03:08 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (back) sat out Week 17 against the Atlanta Falcons, but head coach Ron Rivera told reporters Stewart is expected to "be fine" for the team's wild-card weekend matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart had a nice little four-game run in fantasy from Week 10 to Week 14, but he was mostly bench fodder for most of the rest of the season. With Christian McCaffrey's role expected to grow next year, Stewart is even more likely to be less relevant. He can be avoided in most playoff leagues and DFS formats as well.

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 29, and is not on the injury report for Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart has struggled over the last two games but has received at least 10 carries in eight of his last nine games. He could be a flex option in standard leagues but is not a strong fantasy option this week.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart back on the field

Thu, 28 Dec 2017 12:14:49 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (non-injury) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

Fantasy Tip: The Panthers still have a chance to win the NFC South, so Stewart should receive a full workload against the Atlanta Falcons. He has struggled over the last few games but could still be a flex option in standard leagues.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart rests

Wed, 27 Dec 2017 14:29:21 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (rest) did not practice on Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart was getting the mid-week veteran's rest to keep him healthy for game day. He has been rather sporadic in terms of production and should be treated more as a low-end RB3 or flex option in most fantasy leagues for the finale.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart goes nowhere fast

Sun, 24 Dec 2017 13:51:42 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart ran seven times for 19 yards in Week 16 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and his one catch went for minus-1 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart is a headache for fantasy owners. Most likely gave up on him and then he went for 103 yards and three scores against a tough Vikings defense. Then, he has struggled over the past two weeks in favorable matchups.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart struggles in Week 15

Sun, 17 Dec 2017 15:35:04 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 11 times for just 27 yards in Week 15 against the Green Bay Packers and he added one grab for nine yards.

Fantasy Tip: After hitting the century mark with three touchdowns against the Vikings, he struggled in what was supposed to be a favorable matchup. He is just so inconsistent for fantasy owners. Next week against the Buccaneers should be a favorable matchup, but will good Jonathan or bad Jonathan show up?

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart ready to roll

Fri, 15 Dec 2017 14:51:38 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (rest) was able to practice in full Friday, Dec. 15, and he was removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 15 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart is coming off a 103-yard, three-touchdown performance against the Vikings last week, a surprise for sure. Temper expectations and treat him as a RB3 or flex fantasy option across the board against the Pack.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart back at practice

Thu, 14 Dec 2017 13:09:48 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (non-injury) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart is coming off one of his best games of the season in Week 14 and has five touchdowns in his last three games. He probably should be considered as at least a flex option in standard leagues this week against the Green Bay Packers.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart gets veteran's rest

Wed, 13 Dec 2017 15:34:49 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (rest) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 13, as he was resting.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart was getting the veteran's mid-week rest, and he certainly earned it going over 100 yards with three touchdowns against a stout Vikings defense last week. Despite the big game he should still be viewed as a RB3 or flex fantasy option against the Packers this week.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart goes bonkers in win

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 14:07:05 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 16 times for 103 yards and three touchdowns in Week 14 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: Not many people predicted this type of production against a stifling Vikings rush defense. Stewart certainly surprised and led many to playoff fantasy wins for those who rolled the dice on him. He'll look to keep it rolling in Week 15 against the visiting Packers.

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (foot) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 8, and is not on the injury report for Week 14.

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (foot) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart continues to receive a solid amount of carries during games and has a touchdown in each of his last two games. He has been held to under 50 yards in six of his last seven games and probably can be avoided in most leagues because of the tough matchup.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart a no-go Wednesday

Wed, 06 Dec 2017 11:33:49 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (foot) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Anytime Stewart's foot is a concern, there's reason to believe his absence from practice is more than just a veteran's day off. For now, however, owners should probably approach this news as a 30-year-old back getting a day of rest. If he cannot go, rookie Christian McCaffrey would be a solid bet for 20 touches against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart logs 45 yards

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 20:52:25 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 11 times for 45 yards and a touchdown in a 31-21 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart will provide an occasional touchdown, but he is averaging just 3.2 yards per carry and is a flex option, at best. You may want to avoid him all together against a stingy Minnesota Vikings defense in Week 14.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart struggles in victory

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 18:19:36 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 15 times for just 26 yards and a touchdown in Week 12 against the New York Jets and he did not have a catch.

Fantasy Tip: If not for the touchdown his fantasy owners would be really salty after this egg-laying. He continues to struggle while Christian McCaffrey has averaged 4.4 yards per carry or better over his past three outings.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart finally logs 100-yard game

Mon, 13 Nov 2017 21:23:36 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart recorded his first 100-yard game of the season, totaling 110 yards on 17 carries in the team's Week 10 triumph Monday, Nov. 13, opposite the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart didn't find the end zone, nor did he have any receiving stats, but his owners won't mind that after this long-awaited breakout performance that could save his season. Up to this point, the 10-year veteran has mostly been a disaster in 2017, but perhaps this huge outing will get him going for the stretch run. In the meantime, he's still just a FLEX option.

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (toe) fully participated in practice Saturday, Nov. 11, and is not on the injury report for Week 10. The Panthers did not hold a practice Saturday, so his practice designation is an estimation.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart likely will receive his normal workload this week and should lead the team in carries. He has struggled over the last five weeks and can be avoided in fantasy leagues if owners have better options available.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart puts in full practice

Fri, 10 Nov 2017 15:38:33 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (toe) was able to take part in a full practice session Friday, Nov. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart is likely champing at the bit to get out on the field Monday and show that last week's performance was an aberration. He coughed up two fumbles and coach Ron Rivera had the veteran grab some pine, using Christian McCaffrey more in the run game at J-Stew's expense. Rivera gave Stewart a vote of confidence this week, but he might have a short leash.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart takes part in practice

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 12:00:47 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (toe) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart has received at least 10 carries in all but one game this season but has been held to under 50 yards in each of the last five games. He also lost two fumbles in Week 9 but probably will receive a similar workload this week. Owners should be able to find better options and can avoid Stewart.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart receives vote of confidence

Tue, 07 Nov 2017 09:01:27 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart remains "a big part of our identity" despite losing two fumbles for the first time in his career in Week 9, according to offensive coordinator Mike Shula.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart hasn't rushed for more than 48 yards or averaged more than 3.4 yards per carry over the last five games, although it doesn't help when he is consistently getting hit in the backfield. Week 9 seem to single a changing of the guard with Christian McCaffrey, who played 82 percent of the snaps and ran for a career-high 66 yards. While Stewart will likely remain involved moving forward, it's difficult seeing him getting enough work behind a poor run-blocking line to be worth in keeping around in fantasy anymore.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart has forgettable day

Sun, 05 Nov 2017 14:19:54 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart ran 11 times for just 21 yards and he lost two fumbles in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: With Stewart struggling badly, head coach Ron Rivera leaned upon Christian McCaffrey a lot more with some success. It's uncertain if it's a changing of the guard in Charlotte, or just a temporary situation, but it's a worth monitoring very closely heading into Week 10 against the visiting Dolphins.

Fri, 03 Nov 2017 12:10:48 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (toe) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 3, and is not on the injury report for Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart still has an important role in the running game but has not posted great numbers in any game this season. He could be a low-end flex option in deeper leagues but is not a strong starting option.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart takes part in practice

Thu, 02 Nov 2017 11:52:48 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (toe) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart recorded his first touchdown of the season last week but was held to under 50 yards for the fourth straight game. He will continue to receive most of the work in the rushing game but should only be a flex option in deeper leagues at this point.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart also limited

Wed, 01 Nov 2017 13:54:06 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (toe) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart found the end zone for the first time this season last week, but he still only manage 34 yards on 11 carries. On the season he's right at 3.0 yards per carry and is a non-factor in the passing game. Stewart is merely a desperate flex play.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart gets into end zone

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 13:58:05 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 11 times for 34 yards and a touchdown in Week 8 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, but he was mostly contained outside of an 11-yard scamper in the first half. He'll look for better results in Week 9 against the visiting Atlanta Falcons, but treat him more as an RB3 or flex play in most fantasy leagues.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart limited Thursday

Thu, 26 Oct 2017 11:58:20 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (toe) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart appears to have a solid chance to play in Week 8 and could continue to receive a solid amount of carries if he plays. He has received at least 12 games in six of the seven games in 2017 but has not rushed for more than 68 yards in any game. He can be considered a flex option in deeper leagues because of the number of teams on bye.
