Ravens | Joe Flacco tosses pair of touchdowns

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 16:50:29 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco completed 25 of his 34 pass attempts for 217 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Week 2 against the Browns.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco looked a lot more comfortable in the offense this week after he was a bit rusty in Week 1 after missing time due to a disc issue in his back. He'll look to keep it going in Week 3 against the Jaguars, but keep in mind he has a long flight to London for that game and his back could lock up on the journey. He is a risky play for that one.

Ravens | Joe Flacco pleased with recovery

Wed, 13 Sep 2017 08:33:01 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) said he came out of the Week 1 game well, and he is pleased with his back's progress.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco had a very futile game statistically, and he has very little upside in fantasy at this point except as a backup. He does play the lowly Cleveland Browns, but there are greener pastures.

Ravens | Joe Flacco doesn't do much in win

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 18:24:24 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco completed nine of his 17 pass attempts for 121 yards, a touchdown and an interception in the Week 1 win in Cincinnati.

Fantasy Tip: It was Flacco's first game action since returning from a disc issue in his back. His stat line was rather pedestrian, and you can likely expect him to do very little until he starts to knock off the rust. He should be treated as more of a QB2 heading into Week 2 against the Browns.

Ravens | Joe Flacco off injury report

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 11:09:33 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco was a full participant in practice all week and did not appear on the team's final injury report of the week.

Fantasy Tip: He did not play in the preseason due to a back injury. Flacco is about as unexciting of fantasy quarterback option as there is, but at least his health should make it easier for Jeremy Maclin, Mike Wallace and Danny Woodhead to live up to their ADPs. Consider the 32-year-old signal-caller a QB2 for fantasy purposes.

Ravens | Joe Flacco practices Thursday

Thu, 07 Sep 2017 15:39:18 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco may be a little rusty in Week 1 since he did not play in the preseason but will have a solid group of pass catchers to work with on offense. Flacco should be a No. 2 quarterback in most leagues and probably can stay on the bench this week.

Ravens | Joe Flacco feeling good

Wed, 06 Sep 2017 08:31:04 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) said his back is feeling good Wednesday, Sept. 6, and he didn't receive an injection to assist with the recovery. Head coach John Harbaugh said Flacco has responded well to the first couple of days of practice.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco is little more than a depth QB in fantasy for now. If the weapons around him blossom, he could return to the low-end QB1 discussion.

Ravens | Joe Flacco on the field Saturday

Sat, 02 Sep 2017 12:09:44 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) participated in practice Saturday, Sept. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco appears to be on track to play in Week 1, but owners should check on his status during practice next week. Flacco will have a solid group of receivers to work with but should be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

Ravens | Joe Flacco nearing return to practice

Tue, 29 Aug 2017 09:35:07 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) has resumed throwing and will likely practice in the coming days, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco has established himself as a league-average quarterback, but he at least gives the Ravens' skill-position players a fighting chance, unlike Ryan Mallett. Considering Flacco has only missed six starts - all due to a 2015 torn ACL - since becoming Baltimore's quarterback in 2008, he should be counted on to be under center for Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Ravens | Joe Flacco to play Week 1?

Sat, 26 Aug 2017 20:54:00 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) will be ready to play in Week 1, head coach John Harbaugh said Saturday, Aug. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco is more important to Baltimore's success than the success of fantasy teams. Even if he is on the field in Week 1, he is no more than a midrange QB2.

Ravens | Baltimore to sit a few more Saturday

Sat, 26 Aug 2017 08:12:38 -0700

Ravens | Joe Flacco ruled out for another week

Sun, 20 Aug 2017 12:18:02 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) will not return until Sunday, Aug. 27, at the earliest, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley.

Fantasy Tip: Mike Wallace did not seem the least bit concerned about his quarterback's readiness for Week 1 in his interview with Hensley, so we'll have to take his word for it for now. Flacco is an established low-end veteran quarterback who shouldn't need much prep time, but back injuries are almost always tricky. Owners can avoid him in most non-two quarterback or superflex leagues.

Ravens | Joe Flacco will not practice yet

Thu, 17 Aug 2017 19:28:25 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) is not expected to practice this week because the team is sticking to their timeline for him, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco will not play in the preseason but could return to practice in a week or two. He is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season as long as he does not suffer a setback and should be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

Ravens | Joe Flacco to sit out preseason

Fri, 11 Aug 2017 13:22:02 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) is expected to return to practice at some point during the preseason but will not play in any of the preseason games. The team said that Flacco is making good progress in his rehab and should be ready to play in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco has about a month before the start of the season, so he should have a good amount of practice time before he plays in a game. He will have a decent receiving corps to work with this season and also has Danny Woodhead out of the backfield. He should be considered a low-end No. 2 quarterback in most fantasy leagues.

Mon, 07 Aug 2017 07:35:54 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) received a second opinion on his back last week, according to sources. The results were "positive for a slow return." There's no timetable for his return.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco is your run-of-the-mill quarterback to use on a bye week or good matchup in fantasy.

Ravens | No timetable for Joe Flacco

Sun, 06 Aug 2017 13:56:52 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) is feeling better every day but there is still no timetable for his return, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco probably will miss some preseason games but should be on the field for the start of the regular season. He has thrown for at least 3,900 yards in three of the last four seasons and will be working with a decent group of receivers this season. Flacco should only be considered a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

Ravens | No danger of Joe Flacco missing Week 1

Wed, 02 Aug 2017 18:37:01 -0700

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said QB Joe Flacco (back) will be back on the field long before the start of the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Flacco likely will receive snaps during the preseason as long as he does not suffer a setback. Flacco will have a solid receiver corps to work with this season but should only be a No. 2 quarterback in most fantasy leagues.

Ravens | Joe Flacco's health improving

Tue, 01 Aug 2017 15:40:42 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) is feeling better in regards to his ailing back, according to a source. It remains unclear when Flacco will return to action.

Fantasy Tip: The Ravens have already suffered more than their fair share of injuries this year, so it's nice to see Flacco progressing. That being said, Flacco is a perennial backup fantasy quarterback, even with a solid corps of weapons around him.

Ravens | Joe Flacco expected back soon

Tue, 01 Aug 2017 10:15:32 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) is likely due back "soon" and will "definitely" return at some point during the preseason, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds as though the Ravens have no concerns about Flacco's Week 1 status, although the team would be foolish not to address their quarterback situation considering Ryan Mallett is the next-best option on the team. At any rate, Flacco is an uninspiring QB2 choice in fantasy.

Ravens | BAL committing week of rest for Joe Flacco

Wed, 26 Jul 2017 19:09:51 -0700

Updating previous reports, the Baltimore Ravens are "committing to a week of rest" for QB Joe Flacco (back) in hopes that will calm the symptoms down. He'll be shut down during that time and then be re-evaluated.

Fantasy Tip: This latest development could point to an earlier-than-anticipated return for Baltimore's franchise quarterback, meaning he might only miss a couple of weeks of action during training camp. Either way, it looks like Flacco will be fine by the time the season kicks off in more than a month, though he shouldn't really be considered a QB1 option in standard leagues going into the new campaign.

Ravens | Joe Flacco may miss up to six weeks

Wed, 26 Jul 2017 17:59:01 -0700

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) is preparing to miss three to six weeks because of a disc issue in his back, according to sources. Flacco will miss at least a week or two because of the injury.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco could be questionable for the start of the regular season if his recovery is closer to six weeks, so owners will need to keep an eye on the situation. Flacco could be a No. 2 quarterback in some fantasy leagues, but owners may want to look for healthier options to use.

Wed, 26 Jul 2017 17:22:14 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) is dealing with back soreness and may be limited during the first few days of training camp, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: It appears like Flacco is dealing with a minor injury and should be a full participant in a week or two. He threw for 4,317 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2016 but also had 15 interceptions. He will have a solid group of pass catchers this season but should be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback in deeper leagues.

Ravens | Danny Woodhead being utilized

Thu, 01 Jun 2017 19:44:49 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Danny Woodhead was a frequent target of QB Joe Flacco during practice Thursday, June 1, and Woodhead was used in a variety of ways throughout the session.

Fantasy Tip: Woodhead is as dangerous as any back in the passing game, and he has been effective in the red zone throughout his career. He is a RB3 candidate in standard leagues and a potential RB2 in PPR formats.

Ravens | Joe Flacco will continue to wear brace

Wed, 19 Apr 2017 11:53:04 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco said he will continue to wear a knee brace in order to protect his surgically repaired knee.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco threw for a career-best 4,317 yards in 2016 with 20 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He will not have Steve Smith next season but should have a decent receiving corps and several options at tight end. Owners in all leagues should consider Flacco as a low-end No. 2 quarterback.

Ravens | Joe Flacco could have highest cap figure

Tue, 21 Feb 2017 22:53:19 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco would become the player with the highest salary cap figure in the NFL for 2017 should Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo get cut or traded this offseason. Flacco is scheduled to count $24.55 million against the cap.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco is coming off two straight unspectacular seasons, as while he did register a career high in passing yards (4,317) in 2016, the fact remains he had just 20 touchdowns versus 15 interceptions, while the year prior, he had 14 touchdowns compared to 12 picks in 10 games. Certainly, Flacco has to step up his game considerably if he wants to enter the QB1 discussion again.

Wed, 25 Jan 2017 15:15:26 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco threw for 2,193 yards, six touchdowns and nine interceptions on the road this season. He threw for 2,124 yards, 14 touchdowns and six interceptions at home.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco was able to play in all 16 game this season and posted a career-best 4,317 yards but will be losing at least one of his receivers this offseason. He has been able to post solid numbers in the past and should be considered a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

Ravens | Joe Flacco happy that OC will return

Thu, 19 Jan 2017 10:27:55 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco said he has a great working relationship with offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and is happy that Mornhinweg will return next season. Flacco threw for 3,035 yards, 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions under Mornhinweg in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Mornhinweg was named offensive coordinator during the season, so Flacco will have the entire offseason to have a better understanding of the offensive scheme. Flacco can have solid outings from time to time but should be considered a No. 2 quarterback in deeper leagues.

Ravens | Baltimore expects more from Joe Flacco

Tue, 10 Jan 2017 10:58:44 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco passed for a career-high 4,317 yards in 2016 but finished with only 20 touchdowns (versus 15 interceptions) despite a career-high 672 attempts.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco should not have been expected to set the world on fire coming off his 2015 ACL injury, but the Ravens need to realize sooner or later he is not an upper-echelon quarterback. Baltimore also isn't doing him any favors with its constant turnover at offensive coordinator. Flacco should be more efficient in 2017, but he will be hard-pressed to be anything more than a middling QB2.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco has been on a roll in the last month with nine touchdowns and four interceptions in the last four games. He will be facing the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 16 and could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues.

Mon, 12 Dec 2016 21:48:55 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco completed 37 of his 52 pass attempts for 324 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the Week 14 game against the New England Patriots Monday, Dec. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco had just two 300-yard performances in his first 11 games, and he has two over his past two outings. He isn't a bad streaming option in Week 15 against a Philadelphia Eagles defense which has been struggling of late.

Ravens | Joe Flacco effective in win

Sun, 27 Nov 2016 13:43:06 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco threw for 234 yards and a touchdown but was picked off once in a 19-14 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco won't get you flashy numbers like a Drew Brees or Matt Ryan would, but he is effective. Flacco has 2,877 passing yards but only 11 touchdowns, giving him an advantage in yardage leagues. There are better quarterbacks, but Flacco should be on a roster as a backup.

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 17:02:14 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco completed 23 of his 35 pass attempts for 269 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the Week 11 game against the Dallas Cowboys. He also rushed once for six yards.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco took care of the ball and limited his mistakes, but he also failed to carry over the momentum of his three-touchdown game last week against Cleveland. He remains more of a QB2 in most standard fantasy formats heading into Week 12 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Baltimore Ravens WR Mike Wallace caught four passes for 124 yards, including a 95-yard touchdown catch from QB Joe Flacco, in a 21-14 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Nov. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Take away the long score and Wallace's numbers plummet. Still, Wallace is establishing himself as one of Flacco's desired targets, so he should get consideration in fantasy leagues.

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 14:04:54 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco broke the protective brace on his left knee in the third quarter Sunday, Nov. 6, against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Flacco hopped off the field at the end of a play, and it first looked like Flacco had reinjured his left knee.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco missed just three plays and was 18-for-30 for 241 yards in the team's first win in six weeks. Flacco will have his weak games, but this was a strong performance that merits his QB1 status.

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (shoulder) had "good zip" and "good velocity" in practice Friday, Oct. 21, according to TE Dennis Pitta.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco has thrown for at least 250 yards in four of his six games this season but has only five touchdowns during that span. He likely will be with one of his best receivers against the New York Jets and probably should be avoided in most leagues.

Ravens | Joe Flacco returns to practice Friday

Fri, 21 Oct 2016 12:08:15 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (shoulder) returned to practice Friday, Oct. 21, getting in a full session. He's being considered questionable to play in the team's Week 7 game Sunday, Oct. 23, against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco sat out the last two days, so this news is definitely encouraging for his Week 7 status. He'll have a salivating matchup opposite New York's weak pass defense, and as long as the former Super Bowl MVP is in there under center, that should bode well for all of Baltimore's key offensive players in fantasy.
