Dolphins | No contract for Arian Foster, Miami

Tue, 29 Mar 2016 14:37:18 -0700

Free-agent RB Arian Foster (Texans) left his visit with the Miami Dolphins without a contract.

Fantasy Tip: It has already been stated that Foster will not sign with anyone until he is fully healthy, so this should come as no surprise. Foster could still sign with the Dolphins once he deems himself to be at full health, but for now, it's a waiting game. As far as fantasy value, Foster is no longer a featured back and will be part of a committee wherever he goes. He's a decent-sized risk, too, with his injury history. He should not be viewed as more than a low-end RB2 to high-end RB3.

NFL | Arian Foster won't sign until healthy

Mon, 28 Mar 2016 13:18:14 -0700

Free-agent RB Arian Foster (Texans) wants to be completely healthy before he signs with anyone, which could be in late May or in June.

Fantasy Tip: Foster visited the Dolphins on Monday, but don't expect him to sign with them right away. Miami is in need of another running back after losing Lamar Miller and missing out on C.J. Anderson. Jay Ajayi is the main running back for now. He has RB2 potential as of now, but that potential will likely go down if/when the Dolphins add another running back.

Dolphins | Arian Foster visiting Miami

Mon, 28 Mar 2016 08:11:27 -0700

Free-agent RB Arian Foster (Texans) will visit the Miami Dolphins Tuesday, March 29. Foster, who is rehabbing from a torn Achilles', should be far enough in his rehab to pass a physical.

Fantasy Tip: Foster could still be worth a RB3 selection if he's healthy.

Dolphins | Miami open to trading for RB

Wed, 23 Mar 2016 12:00:47 -0700

The Miami Dolphins are exploring trade options for a running back to pair with RB Jay Ajayi, and they've had conversations with multiple teams, according to a league source at the NFL annual meetings this week. There are no specific names of running backs the Dolphins have asked about, though, and no trade appears imminent. A veteran player like free-agent RB Arian Foster (Texans) hasn't been ruled out, either.

Fantasy Tip: The new Miami coaching regime likes Ajayi, but they have their doubts that he can hold up to a full-time role in the backfield, and with good reason. In nine games last year he had 49 carries for 187 yards (3.8 average) and one touchdown. Depending on how Miami splits the carries, Ajayi could have low-end RB2 ability in this offense.

Texans | Arian Foster still passionate

Sun, 20 Mar 2016 10:40:56 -0700

Former Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (Achilles') still has a passion for football and is still motivated to play, despite the rigorous process of rehabilitating his ruptured Achilles' tendon, according to his brother, Abdul Foster.

Fantasy Tip: Foster seems determined to return to the gridiron. This recent injury and his extensive injury history could make teams hesitant to take a chance on him, though. Wherever he plays, he probably won't be the featured back anymore, so don't draft him as a RB1.

NFL | Arian Foster training twice a day

Sun, 20 Mar 2016 06:39:42 -0700

Free-agent RB Arian Foster (Achillies') is training twice a day at IX Innovations, an elite fitness and training facility in Southwest Houston. He is motivated and doing great, according to Abdul Foster, the running back's older brother, trainer and owner of IX Innovations.

Fantasy Tip: With so much uncertainty surrounding Foster's fantasy stock, it is important to focus on the known. He is entering his age-30 season, hasn't played a full campaign since 2012 and is likely to split carries in a backfield committee. His name value will likely make him too costly in the majority of drafts and auctions entering the 2016 season.

NFL | Arian Foster in no rush to sign

Fri, 11 Mar 2016 15:05:54 -0800

Free-agent RB Arian Foster (Achillies') plans to be patient in regards to choosing his next employer, according to a source. Foster suffered a torn Achilles' tendon last season but is expected to be back to 100% this summer.

Fantasy Tip: The injury-prone Foster will turn 30 over the summer and would probably prefer to be as healthy as possible before shopping his services. One team that makes a lot of sense is the Denver Broncos, who could lose restricted free agent C.J. Anderson to the Miami Dolphins. Just as importantly, the Broncos' head coach is Gary Kubiak, whose offensive system Foster flourished in during most of their five seasons together in Houston.

NFL | Other options for Arian Foster

Thu, 03 Mar 2016 16:33:36 -0800

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Arian Foster (Texans) may draw interest from the Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots and/or Atlanta Falcons, in the opinion of NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal.

Fantasy Tip: Wherever he ends up, Foster is over the hill from a football perspective and should no longer be viewed as a RB1. He has an extensive injury history, he hasn't played a full season since 2012 and he would probably be part of a backfield committee.

NFL | Arian Foster will have suitors

Thu, 03 Mar 2016 11:12:10 -0800

Free-agent RB Arian Foster (Achilles') started jogging last month and is expected to be ready in time for training camp, as he's ahead of schedule in his rehab from a torn Achilles'. The Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos, New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks are teams that would make sense to pursue Foster in free agency.

Fantasy Tip: Foster, who will be in his age-30 season in 2016, will no longer be an RB1 for fantasy owners. Wherever he lands next he'll likely share backfield duties as a pass-catcher, but he could be a solid RB3 in the right situation. Denver is intriguing because of Foster's familiarity with Gary Kubiak and the zone-blocking scheme, but will the Broncos be able to afford him?

Texans | Arian Foster officially released

Thu, 03 Mar 2016 09:52:26 -0800

Updating an earlier report, Houston Texans RB Arian Foster was officially released Thursday, March 3, the team announced. A source that has seen Foster (Achilles') rehab said that Foster is healthy enough to sign with a team right now, but he could wait until June so teams can see him run at full speed before he signs.

Fantasy Tip: Where Foster lands and what his role will be are the determining factors for his fantasy value. He could still be an RB3 or higher in fantasy.

Texans | Arian Foster released

Thu, 03 Mar 2016 07:01:59 -0800

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster has been informed Thursday, March 3, the team is releasing him, according to a source close to him.

Fantasy Tip: Foster has had two serious injuries in successive seasons, but he could still land in a place to be a quality fantasy back as an RB3.

Texans | Arian Foster may not be released

Tue, 01 Mar 2016 13:41:22 -0800

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster could at least practice this offseason at his current salary, which stands at $6.5 million for 2016.

Fantasy Tip: It was expected that Foster would be released this offseason, but that's not a guarantee anymore. He's 30 years old and will be a free agent next year, but the Texans may try to get one more injury-free, productive year out of him. The wear and tear on Foster has been evident, and he's too big of an injury risk to be considered a RB1 anymore.

Texans | Arian Foster motivated

Thu, 25 Feb 2016 09:13:04 -0800

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (Achilles') is motivated and is doing well in his recover. "His salary is not a reason why we will cut Arian," Texans general manager Rick Smith said.

Fantasy Tip: Foster is risky in fantasy drafts now because he hasn't been able to stay healthy -- he's played a full season just twice in seven years. But when he's healthy, he can be one of the more productive fantasy backs in the NFL, especially in point-per-reception leagues. If he's healthy entering 2016, consider him a low-end RB1.

Texans | Houston to run more in 2016?

Thu, 11 Feb 2016 13:55:40 -0800

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster may be utilized more next season after team owner Bob McNair said the Texans need to get the running game going again.

Fantasy Tip: Of course, Foster needs to be healthy in order to run the ball, and staying healthy is something he has struggled with throughout his career. There is also the possibility that Foster is released this offseason, which would give Chris Polk and Jonathan Grimes the reins at running back. Houston would also likely add to the position through the draft or free agency if Foster were released. The running back position is too cloudy right now, but McNair's words could bode well for whoever is in the backfield next season.

Texans | Arian Foster cleared to jog

Tue, 02 Feb 2016 07:19:18 -0800

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (Achilles') has been cleared to jog without pivoting, cutting or explosive activity.

Fantasy Tip: Foster may not be back with the Texans, but he's still quite valuable if he returns to full health in 2016. Keep an eye on his rehab.

Texans | Arian Foster working to return

Thu, 28 Jan 2016 20:57:31 -0800

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (Achilles') has been in the team's facilities working hard on his rehab, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

Fantasy Tip: There is a good chance Foster will be cut before next season, but assuming he lands elsewhere, he could still have legit fantasy value depending on the situation.

Texans | Arian Foster likely to be released

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 07:36:30 -0800

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (Achilles') is expected to be released before the new league year begins in March, according to multiple sources not authorized to speak publicly. Foster, 30, would have a cap hit of $8.925 million for the 2016 season. The sources also said they expect him to sign elsewhere.

Fantasy Tip: Foster is coming off a torn Achilles', but he still has a lot of name value. He should be able to land at least a timeshare spot next season. He'll be worth watching in the offseason for PPR leagues. The Texans may decide to run with Alfred Blue or draft another back. If Blue is their guy, he'd be an RB3 candidate in fantasy.

Texans | Alfred Blue part of committee?

Wed, 28 Oct 2015 01:34:02 -0700

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue (toe) is feeling better after battling a toe injury, and he is likely to lead a committee-based approach at running back with RB Chris Polk and RB Jonathan Grimes in the wake of the season-ending injury to Arian Foster (Achilles').

Fantasy Tip: When Foster missed the start of the season, Blue ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) delivered duds in Week 1 and Week 2 before tallying 139 yards in a score and Week 3. He isn't the type of back you start every week at FantasyScore, but he could be a solid source of cap relief against weaker opponents.

Texans | Houston not interested in Pierre Thomas

Wed, 28 Oct 2015 01:27:37 -0700

Free-agent RB Pierre Thomas (Saints), who was offered a contract by the Houston Texans in the preseason, has not been contacted by the team since RB Arian Foster (Achilles') was lost for the season, according to a source. The Texans plan to stick with the backs currently on their roster.

Texans | Arian Foster officially out for the year

Mon, 26 Oct 2015 13:57:53 -0700

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (Achilles') is officially out for the remainder of the season with a torn Achilles' tendon.

Fantasy Tip: Alfred Blue should be the lead running back going forward. Chris Polk and Jonathan Grimes will also have their roles and are usually more involved in the passing game. Unfortunately, the Texans face one of the better fantasy rush defenses in the NFL in the Tennessee Titans next week.

Texans | Arian Foster to have MRI

Mon, 26 Oct 2015 08:18:14 -0700

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (Achilles') is undergoing an MRI exam Monday, Oct. 26, to confirm a torn Achilles' tendon. Foster was using crutches after the Week 7 game. He finished the game against the Miami Dolphins with 125 total yards and two touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: You can now drop Foster in redraft leagues immediately and start looking for replacements on the waiver wire. Alfred Blue will likely see the majority of touches in the backfield now, and he should be picked up right away in all formats. Jonathan Grimes and Chris Polk are the consolation prizes in deeper leagues.

Texans | Tear confirmed for Arian Foster

Sun, 25 Oct 2015 15:34:45 -0700

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (Achilles') suffered a torn Achilles' tendon in the Week 7 game against the Miami Dolphins, a source said Sunday, Oct. 25. Foster is done for the season.

Fantasy Tip: With Foster on the shelf it is back to a hodgepodge of runners in Houston, with Alfred Blue ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) likely leading the charge. Chris Polk ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will also try to help shoulder some of the load.

Texans | Arian Foster may have torn Achilles'

Sun, 25 Oct 2015 13:54:26 -0700

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (Achilles') suffered an Achilles' injury late in the fourth quarter of Week 7's game against the Miami Dolphins. Doctors fear that he may have a torn Achilles'.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) had 59 rushing yards and 66 receiving yards with two touchdowns before sustaining the injury. If he has a torn Achilles', he could end up missing the rest of the season. Alfred Blue ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Chris Polk ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) stand to gain the most playing time if Foster is sidelined for an extended period of time. Check back regularly for updates on Foster's condition.

Texans | Arian Foster, Alfred Blue probable

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 11:52:48 -0700

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) and RB Alfred Blue (toe) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 23, and are probable for Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) faces a Dolphins defense that has been susceptible to RBs the last three weeks. He's an RB1 to consider on FantasyScore. Blue ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) isn't a real good start.

Texans | All Houston RBs practice in full

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 15:26:22 -0700

Houston Astros RBs Arian Foster (groin), Alfred Blue (toe), Jonathan Grimes (hamstring) and Chris Polk (knee) were all full participants in practice Thursday, Oct. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) is the only Houston runner worth considering on FantasyScore now that he appears to be back to full health. He had 18 carries and another five catches last week and should see another healthy workload against the Miami Dolphins this week. Foster is typically a safe running back pick in point-per-reception formats like FantasyScore.

Texans | Limited practice for Arian Foster

Wed, 21 Oct 2015 13:49:39 -0700

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Foster isn't downgraded this week he should be able to take the field. Foster's opponent this week, the Miami Dolphins, allow over 100 rushing yards per game to running backs, so Foster is worth a start on FantasyScore.

Texans | Arian Foster totals 112 yards, TD

Sun, 18 Oct 2015 21:45:29 -0700

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster carried 18 times for 53 yards in Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he added five receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) is looking more comfortable, as he is healthy and doing what he is capable of doing. He has re-emerged as an RB1 in FantasyScore, especially when the matchup is favorable.

Texans | Arian Foster, Cecil Shorts probable

Fri, 16 Oct 2015 15:06:00 -0700

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) and WR Cecil Shorts (shoulder) are both probable for Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Foster practiced in full Friday, Oct. 16, while Shorts was limited.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) is back close to full strength and is a solid choice on FantasyScore this weekend. The Jags allow 31.8 PPR points per week to runners (fifth-most) and Foster will likely have a heavy workload. Shorts ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is one to avoid with his last game coming Oct. 4 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Texans | Arian Foster fully practices

Thu, 15 Oct 2015 13:19:54 -0700

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) was limited Wednesday, so the upgraded status is obviously encouraging. He also has a really good matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars, so Foster is a recommended play on FantasyScore this week.

Texans | Arian Foster listed as limited

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 16:38:11 -0700

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) should see his normal workload against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6. Foster has struggled running the ball since returning from injury but has caught 12 passes for 102 yards in two games. Owners could consider Foster as a starting option this week.

Texans | Busy night for Arian Foster

Thu, 08 Oct 2015 21:05:37 -0700

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster had 19 carries for 41 yards and nine catches for 77 yards in a 27-20 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) didn't find much running room, but he did enough damage in the passing game to post a solid line. It looks like he will be used as a workhorse back as long as he is on the field, and his high volume of touches makes him a solid option at FantasyScore most weeks.

Texans | Arian Foster returns to game

Thu, 08 Oct 2015 19:51:31 -0700

Updating a previous story, Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (head) returned against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5 after being taken to the locker room for evaluation.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Foster ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) was able to pass concussion protocol, and he should resume his role as lead back for the Texans.

Texans | Arian Foster taken to locker room

Thu, 08 Oct 2015 18:54:58 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (head) was taken to the locker room by trainers after being hit in the head against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) is presumably being examined for a concussion. If the injury forces him to miss any time, Alfred Blue ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) could become relevant at FantasyScore with the right matchup.

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (head) exited against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5 after taking a hit to the head. He checked back in for one play before having his helmet taken away by trainers.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) will likely go through concussion protocol, but stay tuned for updates on his condition.

Texans | Arian Foster will play against Colts

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 15:57:04 -0700

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 7, but is probable for Week 5 against the Indianapolis Colts Thursday, Oct. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) was limited to eight carries for 10 yards and three catches for 25 yards in his season debut last week, and he also lost a fumble. Expect him to have a bigger role Thursday night, especially with Houston missing two starting receivers. He'll be an under-the-radar play in daily formats after a dud last weekend.

Texans | Arian Foster limited Tuesday

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 16:43:04 -0700

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) was limited in practice Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) is actually one of the more healthy running backs on Houston's roster right now. He didn't do anything to write home about in his return to action last week, but he's still Arian Foster, which means he could produce any given week. The Indianapolis Colts are allowing 92.5 yards and one touchdown per game to running backs this year, so Foster does have a favorable matchup on paper.

Mon, 05 Oct 2015 16:46:33 -0700

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) was limited during the team's walkthrough Monday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Foster recorded only 10 yards on eight carries and also lost a fumble during the game. He should be able to play against the Indianapolis Colts Thursday, Oct. 8, and could be a starting option.

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) had eight carries for 10 yards and three catches for 25 yards and lost a fumble in a 48-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) struggled in his season debut, but on the plus side, he led the team in carries. Foster should resume his role as the workhorse back as long as he stays healthy, and better days are in store for him.

Texans | Arian Foster will see limited time

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 08:06:14 -0700

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) will be active for the Week 4 game against the Atlanta Falcons but will see limited snaps during the game, according to a source. Foster is expected to receive a normal workload in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) will see his first game action of the season, so he will see a limited amount of snaps. Foster is a risky option for owners on FantasyScore and may be too expensive since he will not receive his normal workload.

Texans | Arian Foster expected to play

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 07:37:46 -0700

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) is expected to play in the Week 4 game against the Atlanta Falcons unless he suffers a setback, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) could see limited snaps since this would be his first game of the season but does have a favorable matchup this week. Owners could consider using Foster in their lineups, but they may want to lower their expectations.

Texans | Arian Foster is questionable

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 14:09:18 -0700

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) is listed as questionable for Week 4 against the Atlanta Falcons but will have to see how he feels Sunday, Oct. 4, before playing. Head coach Bill O'Brien said the team isn't worried that they will play again on a short week next Thursday against the Indianapolis Colts. Foster has yet to play with QB Ryan Mallett since he was injured for the quarterback's two starts in 2014. Foster likes the way his body is feeling.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) will be a game-time decision Sunday morning. If he plays, he could have his repetitions limited and share time with Alfred Blue and Jonathan Grimes. Even though the Falcons are giving up the most fantasy points to running backs through three weeks, Foster is a risky daily play if he makes his season debut. If he sits out again, both Blue ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) and Grimes ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) are attractive flex options.

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) said his surgeon told him the best rehab for his groin injury is getting out there and playing. Foster said he'll see how he feels Sunday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) is very likely to be limited if he goes, and his price tag is too high to risk it on FantasyScore against the Atlanta Falcons.

Texans | Arian Foster limited

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 15:36:42 -0700

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) may be a game-time decision for the Week 4 game against the Atlanta Falcons, so owners will have to check the inactive list. He probably would see limited playing time if he is active and would not be the best fantasy option.

Texans | Arian Foster looking good

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 11:40:02 -0700

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) looked good again in practice Thursday, Oct. 1, but head coach Bill O'Brien still is unsure if Foster will make his season debut in Week 4 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear if Foster ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) took part in a full practice today. Check back later for an update. The Texans want to see him practice in full before he's cleared to return, and he could be a game-time decision on Sunday. Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Head coach Bill O'Brien wants Foster to have a full practice before he is cleared to play. Foster ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) should be a game-time decision, so there is some risk involved. Stay tuned for updates on his status before making a decision.

Texans | Arian Foster must practice fully

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 15:07:08 -0700

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) must go through a full practice before he is cleared to play in a game, according to head coach Bill O'Brien. Foster practiced again Wednesday, Sept. 30, but it's unclear if it was in full or a limited session.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) is ahead of schedule and has been improving each time out on the practice field. However, he'll be very questionable as a game-time decision this week. He could also be limited if he starts against the Atlanta Falcons, making him an extremely risky FantasyScore option. It's probably best to wait one more week on him.

Texans | Arian Foster won't play this week

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 10:37:40 -0700

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) won't play this week but is making progress, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

Fantasy Tip: Foster has a realistic shot of returning next weekend, but keep in mind he will make sure he's 100% before coming back. Alfred Blue ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) should once again see most of the work in the backfield and could be worth a value selection against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
