Dolphins | Arian Foster announces retirement

Mon, 24 Oct 2016 17:15:50 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) announced his retirement from football Monday, Oct. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Foster has been dealing with injuries once again this season and had clearly lost his starting job to Jay Ajayi. The 30-year-old's body just didn't have enough gas left in the tank to be sustainable for another full NFL season. Ajayi is a must-own player at this point after rushing for 200-plus yards in back-to-back games. Damien Williams is a viable handcuff, particularly in PPR leagues. Foster is obviously safe drop in all formats.

Dolphins | Arian Foster will play

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 09:19:38 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) is officially active for the team's Week 7 game.

Fantasy Tip: Foster will not be in the starting lineup but should receive some touches during the game. Foster could be a flex option in deeper leagues but probably can be avoided in most standard leagues.

Dolphins | Arian Foster listed as questionable

Fri, 21 Oct 2016 13:49:56 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 21, but is listed as questionable for Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Foster should be available to play in Week 7 but may be behind Jay Ajayi in terms of snaps during the game. He should still have a decent role in the offense and can be a flex option in fantasy leagues.

Dolphins | Arian Foster full go

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 15:49:17 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) participated fully in practice Thursday, Oct. 20.

Fantasy Tip: It will be interesting to see how Adam Gase utilizes all of his running backs. Jay Ajayi deserves more work after last week's performance. Foster's main role could be in the passing game. He's a flex at best in Miami's current backfield situation.

Dolphins | Arian Foster practices Wednesday

Wed, 19 Oct 2016 13:31:34 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Foster should be active for the team's Week 7 game but his role is uncertain since Jay Ajayi had a terrific game last week. Foster should see some touches during the game, but owners likely will have better options available.

Dolphins | Arian Foster not at full health

Mon, 17 Oct 2016 12:20:15 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) is still not at 100 percent, according to head coach Adam Gase. Gase did say that Foster "still brings something to the table," however.

Fantasy Tip: If there was a feast at the table in Week 6 then Foster must have brought the salad dressing. Jay Ajayi brought the entrees, the sides and the dessert. We could see more of an even split once Foster is fully ready, but Ajayi should continue to see most of the work after his Week 6 breakout. Ajayi is another top waiver wire pickup this week, especially for those who want to handcuff Foster.

Dolphins | Arian Foster limited in return

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 20:30:38 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) returned to action in Week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He ran three times for just three yards, and he added two catches for 12 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Foster did very little, and his role is likely to remains rather limited with Jay Ajayi going off in the victory. Foster is worth adding in fantasy leagues if he is available off the waiver wire, but keep him reserved until his role expands.

Dolphins | Arian Foster will play Sunday

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 08:37:54 -0700

Confirming a previous report, Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) will be active for Week 6's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: Foster is seeing his first action since Week 2 and should be considered a risky flex option at best versus the Steelers, especially since it is uncertain how many snaps he will receive. He is averaging just 2.9 yards per carry and doesn't have a rushing attempt longer than nine yards this year.

Dolphins | Arian Foster expected to play

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 07:46:37 -0700

Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) is expected to play in Week 6's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: Foster was listed as questionable on the injury report but was a full participant in practice Friday, Oct. 14. However, he hasn't played since Week 2 and wasn't very productive prior to getting hurt, making him a risky flex option versus Pittsburgh.

Dolphins | Arian Foster to test hamstring Sunday

Sat, 15 Oct 2016 22:03:12 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) will have his availability for the team's Week 6 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers determined by how he feels after participating in pregame warmups, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Fantasy Tip: Foster hasn't played since Week 2, and even if he's active it's hard to project how much of the load they'll ask him to carry. He's a risky flex option at best.

Dolphins | Arian Foster officially questionable

Fri, 14 Oct 2016 18:12:47 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) was a full participant in practice Friday, Oct. 14, and is listed as questionable for Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: He is expected to be a game-time decision, but even if Foster suits up, he is a risky flex play. He hasn't produced much when healthy, and he is just one hit away from his next injury.

Dolphins | Arian Foster to be a game-time decision

Fri, 14 Oct 2016 12:17:07 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) will be a game-time decision for the team's Week 6 game Sunday, Oct. 16, against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to head coach Adam Gase.

Fantasy Tip: Foster has been practicing on a limited basis throughout the week, so it appeared he was closer to making his return after missing the prior three games. Even if he does manage to suit up, he's a shaky option, given that he'd likely be playing at less than 100 percent, plus the Dolphins' offense has been messy in the early going. If has to sit once again, Jay Ajayi would be the biggest beneficiary, though he can be a mixed bag as a RB3.

Dolphins | Arian Foster still limited

Thu, 13 Oct 2016 13:11:44 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Even with the limited practices, it would be mildly surprising if Foster doesn't return this weekend. His status will need to be monitored heading into the weekend, but he's in RB3 territory against the Pittsburgh Steelers if he does play.

Dolphins | Arian Foster limited

Wed, 12 Oct 2016 17:52:14 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Foster has a good chance to play in Week 6 and probably will regain the starting job. He will be facing a solid Pittsburgh Steelers run defense but could still be a flex option.

Dolphins | Arian Foster expected to play

Wed, 12 Oct 2016 09:45:16 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (groin) is expected to play in Week 6 and will work more in practice Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Foster is a flex candidate against the Pittsburgh Steelers this week. However, the offensive line has been an issue, and it may take a week to kick off the rust.

Dolphins | Arian Foster out Sunday

Sun, 09 Oct 2016 08:27:09 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) has been declared out for Week 5's game against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Foster should remain stashed in seasonal leagues since he will serve as Miami's primary running back once he is healthy enough to return. RBs Jay Ajayi, Kenyan Drake and Damien Williams will split carries this week, with Ajayi likely to see the bulk of the action, but none of these players makes a great fantasy option.

Dolphins | Arian Foster listed as doubtful

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 19:21:09 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 7, and is listed as doubtful for Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Foster will miss another game, but continue to stash him if possible. He should be the lead back when he returns and a viable flex option.

Dolphins | Arian Foster likely to sit Week 5

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 13:37:21 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (groin) will "most likely" be held out Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans. While there is belief he can play, his status is expected to come down to a "coaching decision".

Fantasy Tip: It would probably be the prudent move given Foster's injury history. The Dolphins have had next to no running game since Foster got hurt early in Week 2, but all the blame doesn't necessarily fall on his replacements. Still, it is obvious head coach Adam Gase trusts Foster more than he does any other back on the roster. He'll be a midrange flex option when he does return.

Dolphins | Arian Foster limited

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 14:38:02 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 6. The Dolphins did not practice; Foster's status is an estimation of how active he would have been if Miami did practice.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear if Foster will be able to take the field. If he's sidelined again then the Dolphins would once again implement a committee of Jay Ajayi, Kenyan Drake and Damien Williams. None of them are worth writing home about, but Ajayi would be the better bet if Foster is out. That being said, Ajayi is a flex play at best, but he's been too inconsistent to expect much from.

Dolphins | Arian Foster will not be rushed

Wed, 05 Oct 2016 21:56:47 -0700

Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (groin, hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 5, but head coach Adam Gase said Foster will not be rushed. RBs Jay Ajayi and Kenyan Drake will shoulder the load against the Tennessee Titans in Week 5 if Foster cannot go.

Fantasy Tip: Foster is such a talented football player, but his propensity for injury is a major headache for fantasy owners. Avoid him if you have other alternatives and wait to see him prove his health in a game or two before relying upon him again.

Dolphins | Arian Foster listed as limited

Wed, 05 Oct 2016 17:47:59 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Foster could be a game-time decision for Week 5, so owners should continue to monitor the situation. Foster is a solid No. 2 running back when he is healthy, but owners will need other options ready in case Foster is ruled out.

Dolphins | Arian Foster unlikely to play

Wed, 05 Oct 2016 09:45:26 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (groin) is unlikely to play in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: The Dolphins are likely to trim down the running back committee in order to allow one or two of the backs to gain a rhythm. Jay Ajayi is likely to be in the lead, and Kenyan Drake in some form behind him. Both are worth owning, but neither are more than flex options against the Tennessee Titans.

Dolphins | Arian Foster a no-go in practice Tuesday

Tue, 04 Oct 2016 10:24:59 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (groin) did not participate in practice Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Foster has not practiced since suffering his injury in Week 2, so even if he is able to get in a couple of limited sessions later this week, it is unlikely he'll be of much use this weekend versus the Tennessee Titans. Jay Ajayi appeared to make a move to take over lead-back duties in Foster's absence last week and head coach Adam Gase has publicly stated he would like to let one runner get into a rhythm, but there's just not enough upside in this backfield to put up with the headaches it will cause in most weeks.

Dolphins | Arian Foster will not play

Wed, 28 Sep 2016 14:52:41 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 28, and has been ruled out for Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Jay Ajayi and Kenyan Drake will continue to share work at running back with Foster sidelined. None of the running back posted great numbers in the team's Week 3 game and they likely will not receive enough carries to have a big impact. Ajayi may be a flex option in deeper leagues, but most owners should be able to find better options.

Dolphins | Arian Foster misses practice again

Tue, 27 Sep 2016 14:58:08 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) did not practice Tuesday, Sept. 27. Foster's status is an estimate as the Dolphins did not conduct a practice.

Fantasy Tip: Foster is doubtful in a short week for the Dolphins. Jay Ajayi, Kenyan Drake and Damien Williams will comprise a committee backfield, but that backfield is too much of a crapshoot right now to seriously consider starting anyone. If push comes to shove, Ajayi is the better bet.

Dolphins | Arian Foster still sidelined

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 14:46:21 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) did not practice Monday, Sept. 26. Foster's status is an estimate as the Dolphins did not conduct a practice.

Fantasy Tip: The signs are pointing to Foster missing at least another week, especially since the Dolphins play on Thursday in Week 4. Jay Ajayi, Kenyan Drake and Damien Williams will comprise a committee backfield, but that backfield is too much of a crapshoot right now to seriously consider starting anyone. If hard pressed, though, Ajayi is the better bet.

Dolphins | Arian Foster doubtful for Week 4

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 08:08:59 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (groin) won't be rushed back, according to head coach Adam Gase, which casts him as doubtful for Week 4 Thursday, Sept. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Jay Ajayi had just seven rushes for 28 yards, but a touchdown saved his performance in Week 3. However, he lost a fumble in the game as well. He's a flex option against the Cincinnati Bengals this week.

Dolphins | Arian Foster ruled out

Fri, 23 Sep 2016 13:22:14 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (groin) will not play Week 3 versus the Cleveland Browns due to a groin strain.

Fantasy Tip: Given Foster's injury history, this was the expected outcome. The 30-year-old should be considered week-to-week at this point, although it's not as if he was getting much done on the ground anyway (16 carries for 47 yards). Head coach Adam Gase said Friday he doesn't know which running back will start in Foster's place, meaning not even Jay Ajayi can be considered a flex option in what should be a plus-matchup.

Dolphins | Arian Foster misses practice

Thu, 22 Sep 2016 12:16:53 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (groin) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 22. Head coach Adam Gase said the team is trying to figure out the severity of Foster's injury.

Fantasy Tip: Foster probably will not play in Week 3 and could miss more time depending on the injury. Jay Ajayi and Kenyan Drake will share snaps if Foster misses the game with Ajayi likely to receive most of the carries. Ajayi could be a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option in most leagues, while Drake may not be a great fantasy option.

Dolphins | Arian Foster not expected to play

Wed, 21 Sep 2016 11:22:14 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (groin) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Sept. 21, and appears to be a long shot to play in Week 3. He may have a chance to play in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation during the week to see if Foster has any chance to play this week. Jay Ajayi and Kenyan Drake would receive more playing time if Foster is inactive with Ajayi likely to receive a majority of the work. Ajayi should be considered a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option.

Dolphins | Miami optimistic about Arian Foster

Tue, 20 Sep 2016 16:37:18 -0700

The Miami Dolphins are "cautiously optimistic" regarding RB Arian Foster (groin). He has not yet been ruled out for Week 3. His status may not be better determined until later in the week, however.

Fantasy Tip: If Foster can't take the field against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday then Jay Ajayi and Kenyan Drake would be the primary beneficiaries in his stead. If Foster is out, Ajayi wouldn't be a bad start as a low-end RB2 or high-end RB3 against a lowly Cleveland defense.

Dolphins | Arian Foster has strained groin

Tue, 20 Sep 2016 11:57:55 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (groin) is dealing with a groin strain and his status for Week 3 is in question. He is not expected to miss more than one to two games.

Fantasy Tip: Don't be surprised if Foster sits this weekend. If he does, Jay Ajayi then takes the start in Miami's backfield, with Kenyan Drake also in the mix. Ajayi could achieve RB2 numbers in a favorable matchup against the Cleveland Browns, but it might be safer to start him as a flex.

Dolphins | Arian Foster day-to-day

Mon, 19 Sep 2016 11:53:37 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (groin) is considered day-to-day with a groin injury, according to head coach Adam Gase. Gase said he is unsure if Foster will practice Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Jay Ajayi and Kenyan Drake would take over Miami's backfield if Foster is unable to play this weekend. Close attention should be paid to Foster's practice participation throughout the week. Ajayi would be a decent flex start against a bad Cleveland Browns defense if Foster is ruled out.

Dolphins | Arian Foster to have MRI

Mon, 19 Sep 2016 05:18:23 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (groin) will have an MRI on his injured groin Monday, Sept. 19, but the team is concerned he'll miss at least Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Jay Ajayi and Kenyan Drake figure to see the most action in Foster's absence. Ajayi is probably owned in most leagues, but Drake had a seven-yard score in Week 2, which lends confidence for a pickup.

Dolphins | Arian Foster to miss time?

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 22:17:48 -0700

Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (groin) left the Week 2 game against the New England Patriots due to a groin injury, and beat writer Adam Beasley believes the injury might be more than a one-week issue. RB Jay Ajayi filled in, running five times for 14 yards while adding four receptions for 31 yards.

Fantasy Tip: If Foster is forced to miss time it would be Ajayi and rookie Kenyan Drake filling in. Ajayi would be the better fantasy option of the two.

Dolphins | Arian Foster leaves with injury

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 11:17:37 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (groin) suffered a groin injury in Week 2 and is considered questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Foster has dealt with injuries during his career, so owners will need to monitor the situation. Jay Ajayi may be the next in line for the starting job if Foster is dealing with a serious injury and could be a flex option for owners.

Dolphins | Arian Foster to play

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 09:27:06 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) is officially active for the team's Week 2 game.

Fantasy Tip: Foster should receive his normal workload even though he missed a day of practice this week. He recorded 100 yards in total offense in Week 1 and should be involved in the passing game again this week. Foster can be a No. 2 running back in a majority of leagues.

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 06:21:56 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) will be active for Week 2's game against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: Foster participated fully in practice Thursday, Sept. 15, and Friday, Sept. 16, and he is expected to receive the bulk of the work at running back this week. He should be viewed as a viable RB2 or flex option in all fantasy formats.

Dolphins | Arian Foster listed as questionable

Fri, 16 Sep 2016 13:05:13 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 16, but is listed as questionable for Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Foster should be able to play this week and likely will receive most of the work at the running back position. He was able to record 100 total yards last week and should be a decent No. 2 running back in most leagues. He will have more value in point-per-reception leagues since he will be involved in the passing game.

Thu, 15 Sep 2016 12:22:53 -0700

Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Foster likely will receive most of the work at running back his week and will also be involved in the passing game. He will be facing a tough New England Patriots defense but should be considered a No. 2 running back or a flex option in most fantasy leagues.

Dolphins | Arian Foster back at practice

Thu, 15 Sep 2016 11:08:31 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) is participating in practice Thursday, Sept. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Foster missed practice Wednesday, Sept. 14, but appears to be on track to play in Week 2 as long as he does not suffer a setback. He had a solid performance in Week 1 and should be considered a No. 2 running back or flex option in most fantasy leagues.

Dolphins | Arian Foster misses practice

Wed, 14 Sep 2016 13:57:17 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor Foster's status during the week to see if he will be able to play in Week 2. He posted 100 yards of total offense in the first game of the season and can be a No. 2 running back or flex option if he is active for the game.

Dolphins | Arian Foster totals 100 yards

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 22:22:31 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster ran 13 times for 38 yards in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks in his team debut, and he added three receptions for a team-best 62 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Foster was the top dog with Damien Williams only occasionally spelling him while Jay Ajayi was back in Miami. As long as he can stay healthy and carry the load almost exclusively, he is a solid RB2 in most fantasy formats.

Dolphins | Arian Foster officially starting

Mon, 05 Sep 2016 12:23:46 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster has officially been listed as Miami's starting running back.

Fantasy Tip: Not a big surprise. Foster is healthy and impressed in the preseason. Jay Ajayi should still see a decent workload this season, and he could definitely take over as starter if Foster gets injured. For those last-minute drafters, Foster is a low-end RB2 to high-end RB3 consideration, while Ajayi is more of a low-end RB3 to high-end RB4 option with Foster healthy.

Dolphins | Arian Foster could have most touches

Fri, 26 Aug 2016 12:03:01 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster "may end up with more touches this season" than the starter, RB Jay Ajayi.

Fantasy Tip: Foster has looked pretty good so far this preseason, including in the club's most recent contest on Thursday when he rushed for a touchdown and also logged two catches for 20 yards. It's hard to guess which of the two tailbacks will yield the most fantasy points this year, but Foster could be the safer option based on his proven track record. As a result, he's worth going after in the middle rounds, though owners also have to realize he's still injury-prone.

Fri, 19 Aug 2016 19:46:27 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster made his team debut Friday, Aug. 19, against the Dallas Cowboys, losing five yards on two carries.

Fantasy Tip: His age and recent injuries are concerns, but Foster's ability to catch the ball out of the backfield should ensure him a steady role in the offense. He is a RB3 candidate in PPR formats.

Tue, 16 Aug 2016 08:28:21 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Arian Foster (Achilles') will make his preseason debut Friday, Aug. 19, against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: Foster has missed a huge portion of the last couple of years due to serious injuries, and at 30, the time is ticking on his fantasy window. He's an RB3 with some upside in PPR leagues.
