Redskins | DeSean Jackson may not play Saturday

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 14:06:58 -0700

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson's (shoulder) chances of playing Saturday, Aug. 29, against the Baltimore Ravens are pretty slim, according to head coach Jay Gruden. Jackson has been dealing with a shoulder sprain.

Fantasy Tip: It's important for players, especially key players like Jackson, not to take any risks so close to the regular season. Washington needs Jackson at full health for Week 1. It's encouraging that he is able to at least do individual drills, however. Consider him a WR2 in standard leagues.

Redskins | DeSean Jackson limited

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 22:07:27 -0700

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (shoulder) returned to practice for individual drills Sunday, Aug. 23.

Fantasy Tip: D-Jax is a solid WR3 with big-play ability in fantasy.

Redskins | DeSean Jackson probably sitting

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 15:19:34 -0700

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (shoulder) is not expected to play against the Detroit Lions Thursday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson suffered a shoulder sprain a couple weeks ago, so it makes sense for the Redskins to take it easy with him before the regular season. As long as he's healthy for Week 1, he could be in WR2 territory at the end of the season in standard leagues.

Redskins | DeSean Jackson a big deep threat

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 15:08:20 -0700

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson amassed 13 plays of at least 40 yards last year.

Fantasy Tip: No other wide receiver had more than eight such plays. Jackson is arguably the biggest deep threat in the league; it's just a matter of Robert Griffin III getting the ball to him. The downside to Jackson is that he doesn't catch a lot of passes -- he only had 56 in 2014. He'll have more value in standard leagues and should be drafted as a WR2.

Redskins | DeSean Jackson sidelined

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 12:52:11 -0700

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (hamstring) is not participating in practice Monday, Aug. 10.

Fantasy Tip: The team likely will take things easy with Jackson, so he probably will not see much time on the field for the next week or two. Jackson should see plenty of targets this season and could be an early- to middle-round option in most fantasy drafts.

Redskins | DeSean Jackson to miss a few weeks

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 10:19:02 -0700

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (shoulder) is expected to miss a few weeks because of Grade 2 shoulder sprain, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson should have enough time to prepare for the regular season if he does not have any setbacks. Jackson posted 1,169 yards and six touchdowns last season and could do better with more consistent quarterback play from the Redskins. Jackson could be an early- to middle-round option in most leagues if he is healthy.

Redskins | DeSean Jackson confident in abilities

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 09:56:38 -0700

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson is confident in his abilities and doesn't think there is a cornerback in the league that can shut him down. "I don't think no one can guard me," Jackson said. "It's how I feel about myself. I don't feel no one can stop me. You can get Darrelle Revis, Richard Sherman -- whoever you want to get." Jackson led the league last year with 13 catches for 40 yards or more, which was five catches more than any other receiver. He also averaged an NFL-best 20.88 yards per catch, which was almost three yards more than the next receiver. Jackson has averaged an NFL-best 17.68 yards per catch since entering the league in 2008, and he has 48 catches of 40 yards or more in his career, 11 more than any other receiver. Washington quarterbacks were encouraged to throw deep to Jackson more often last year, and the team wants to focus more heavily on the run this year and use more play-action setups, which could benefit Jackson.

Fantasy Tip: Beware putting too much stock in Jackson and these numbers. For fantasy owners, he's ideal in standard formats. He caught just 56 passes a year ago but managed to save face with over 1,000 receiving yards because of his deep-ball prowess. D-Jax is a WR2 commodity but can frustrate owners often.

Redskins | DeSean Jackson the best at big plays?

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 18:49:07 -0700

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson has 48 catches of 40-plus yards over seven seasons, and he led the NFL with 13 such catches in 2014.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson managed to amass 1,169 receiving yards last year despite just 56 catches, and while his overall production warrants WR2 consideration, he can be a boom-or-bust option from one game to the next.

Redskins | DeSean Jackson owns NFC East

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 17:59:48 -0700

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson caught nine passes for 243 yards and a score in two games against the Philadelphia Eagles last season, continuing a trend of big performances against NFC East opponents. "I'm called a Cowboy killer," Jackson said. "They call me the Cowboy killer. I'm a Giants killer, I'm a Cowboys killer, now I'm an Eagles killer, too."

Fantasy Tip: Jackson is a big-play receiver, and while he can occasionally be a boom-or-bust option, he should produce WR2 numbers when all is said and done.

Redskins | Pierre Garcon switches sides

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 07:00:57 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Pierre Garcon ran routes as the "Z" receiver instead of the "X" receiver Wednesday, June 3. This means Garcon lines up split out on the right instead of the left. WR DeSean Jackson was the "X" receiver, and WRs Andre Roberts and Jamison Crowder rotated as the slot receiver.

Fantasy Tip: D-Jax is a midrange WR2 in fantasy, but he loses some appeal in PPR leagues. He came back to his normal 56-catch range after busting out with 82 receptions in 2013. Garcon should be more involved this season, but it's hard to take him as anything more than a low-end WR3 in PPR formats.
