Rockies | Charlie Blackmon activated, in lineup

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 15:23:48 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon (toe) was activated from the 15-day disabled list and is back in the leadoff spot against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Robbie Ray Friday, April 29. As a result, OF Gerardo Parra drops back down to the No. 6 spot in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: You'll want to return Blackmon to starting lineups in all traditional leagues. Against a lefty in his first game back, though, you'll likely want to avoid him in daily formats and allow him to shake off some rust. Parra's daily value drops slightly with the move out of the leadoff spot, but he should remain a solid starter in all other fantasy formats.

Rockies | Gerardo Parra leading off

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 15:10:47 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Gerardo Parra is batting first in the lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Locke Monday, April 25.

Fantasy Tip: Parra is coming off a 4-for-5 performance with four RBI in the last game and has at least one hit in four of his last five games. He is hitting .279 this season and should be a fine starting option in most leagues.

Rockies | Four hits, four RBI for Gerardo Parra

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 18:21:42 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Gerardo Parra went 4-for-5 with a double, four RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in a 12-10 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers Sunday, April 24.

Fantasy Tip: Parra has been bouncing all over the Colorado lineup, but he has just enough power and speed to be a useful option in most mixed leagues.

Rockies | Colorado sitting two starters

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 12:38:36 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Ben Paulsen and C Tony Wolters are not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Alex Wood Sunday, April 24. OF Gerardo Parra will start in left field, while OF Brandon Barnes will start in center field and is batting first. C Dustin Garneau will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Barnes is hitting .286 so far this season with three of his six hits being extra base hits. Barnes could be a cheap sleeper option in some daily fantasy leagues. Garneau has gone 2-for-7 at the plate this season but is not a great fantasy option.

Rockies | Colorado has lineup overhaul

Sat, 23 Apr 2016 14:50:49 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story, OF Carlos Gonzalez, 3B Nolan Arenado and OF Gerardo Parra all moved up one spot to hit in the first four spots in the lineup. 2B DJ LeMahieu was dropped to No. 9.

Fantasy Tip: All five are worth daily considerations at their respective positions. LeMahieu is just 2-for-16 (.125) the last seven days, and he loses some luster hitting ninth. He's still worth starting at the right price against Kenta Maeda.

Rockies | DJ LeMahieu nursing groin injury

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 13:07:31 -0700

Colorado Rockies 2B DJ LeMahieu (groin) tweaked his groin during the game against the Chicago Cubs Friday, April 15, and he is sitting out against the Cincinnati Reds Monday, April 18, in hopes the injury does not become chronic. OF Gerardo Parra is leading off, and INF Cristhian Adames is playing second base and batting seventh against Reds SP Dan Straily Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Stay tuned for updates on LeMahieu. He is a serviceable fantasy contributor at the keystone who chips in across all categories, and calling Coors Field home also helps. Parra receives a slight uptick in value setting the table for Colorado, especially in the stolen base column, whereas Adames is nothing more than a desperation flier in all fantasy formats.

Rockies | Ben Paulsen will not start

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 11:04:30 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Ben Paulsen is not in the starting lineup against Chicago Cubs SP Jon Lester Sunday, April 17. OF Gerardo Parra will start in left field and is batting fifth, while OF Brandon Barnes will start in center field and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Barnes has gone 4-for-12 so far this season but does not have any RBI at this point. Owners probably will be able to find better options to use in their lineups.

Rockies | Gerardo Parra owns Matt Cain

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 09:46:08 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Gerardo Parra is hitting .341 with two RBI in 44 career at-bats against San Francisco Giants SP Matt Cain, who he is facing Thursday, April 14.

Fantasy Tip: Parra facing a right-hander, one that has declined rapidly in recent seasons, at Coors Field should have you licking your chops in all fantasy formats. Start him with confidence today.

Rockies | Charlie Blackmon, Nick Hundley out

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 09:35:16 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon and C Nick Hundley are not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 14. 1B Ben Paulsen draws a start in left field and is hitting seventh with OF Gerardo Parra moving to center field. Also, 2B DJ LeMahieu is moved to the leadoff spot. C Tony Wolters is behind the plate and batting eighth against San Francisco Giants SP Matt Cain.

Fantasy Tip: Most everyone from the Rockies lineup today is desirable in daily formats facing Cain at Coors Field. LeMahieu gains significant value in the leadoff spot, and Paulsen and Wolters are worth looks as cheap sleeper picks against the declining right-hander.

Rockies | Two Rockies take a seat

Sat, 09 Apr 2016 15:18:47 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon and OF Gerardo Parra are out of the lineup Saturday, April 9, with OF Ryan Raburn hitting sixth and OF Brandon Barnes hits eighth. 2B DJ LeMahieu bumps up to the leadoff spot against left-handed San Diego Padres SP Drew Pomeranz.

Fantasy Tip: Raburn and Barnes aren't worth the start. LeMahieu hit lefties at a .294 clip the last three years, and he's worth the upper-echelon start.
