New York Giants RB Peyton Hillis has moved up to the No. 2 RB on the team's depth chart with RB Andre Williams as the No. 3 RB.

Giants | David Wilson's career likely over

Thu, 31 Jul 2014 07:48:17 -0700

New York Giants RB David Wilson (neck) "needs a miracle" from his surgeon's evaluation to be able to continue his playing career, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Wilson had some value as a RB4 or RB5. However, his career, and obviously his fantasy prospects for 2014, are in serious doubt. Andre Williams, Peyton Hillis or Michael Cox could elevate to RB5 status.

Giants | Andre Williams could be part of rotation to start the year

Mon, 07 Jul 2014 18:46:26 -0700

New York Giants RB Andre Williams could unseat RB Peyton Hillis as the power back by the start of the year and become a part of a three-man rotation with RB Rashad Jennings and RB David Wilson, according to Giants.com writers John Schmeelk and Dan Salomone.

Fantasy Tip: Jennings is the favorite to be the featured back, but with Wilson's injury history, there is a chance Williams could carve out a worthwhile role in the offense. He probably isn't worth drafting at this point, but he is worth keeping an eye on to see how his role develops.

Giants | RB roles clearer

Fri, 22 Nov 2013 14:57:58 -0800

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin doesn't expect to change things up when it comes to the roles of his running backs. Last week against the Green Bay Packers, RB Andre Brown was the lead back with RB Brandon Jacobs serving as the goal-line and short-yardage option. Brown had 18 carries for 75 percent of the workload, with Jacobs having five touches. RB Michael Cox will likely continue to be used on special teams, meaning RB Peyton Hillis would be inactive for the second straight week.

Fantasy Tip: Now that Jacobs has the lead role, he's basically a must-start, especially with a juicy matchup against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 12. Jacobs will be inconsistent in his production, making him a flex play in deep leagues.

Giants | Peyton Hillis likely to be big part of Week 10 plans

Wed, 06 Nov 2013 20:38:58 -0800

New York Giants RB Peyton Hillis is expected to be a big part of the team's plan for Week 10 against the Oakland Raiders. Hillis is expected to be the primary option, with RBs Andre Brown and Brandon Jacobs sprinkled into the equation. "I'm pretty sure they are going to switch us in, switch us out," Brown said Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Fantasy Tip: For fantasy purposes, Hillis is your best best as a low-end RB2 or flex play, followed by Jacobs. Brown isn't worth using in any fantasy format, as he makes his way back from injury. However, monitor the situation and be ready to grab him off the waiver wire if he plays better than expected. The job is likely an open competition right now, with the hot hand getting the bulk of the carries going forward.

Giants | David Wilson not cleared yet

Mon, 04 Nov 2013 13:24:26 -0800

Updating a previous report, an MRI showed RB David Wilson (neck) significant improvement in his recovery from a neck injury, but he has not been cleared to resume football activities at this point. Wilson will undergo another evaluation in a few weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Wilson will be out for a few more weeks, so Andre Brown, Peyton Hillis and Brandon Jacobs will handle the carries for now. Brown is expected to be activated this week and should be owned in all leagues. Hillis and Jacobs likely will see their fantasy value drop because of the return of Brown. If you've been stashing Wilson, this might be the time to give up if you're in need of the roster space.

Giants | Andre Brown fully healthy

Tue, 29 Oct 2013 16:25:24 -0700

New York Giants RB Andre Brown (leg) is 100 percent healthy and recovered from his fractured left leg, but he said he will wear a protective shin guard "for the rest of my career." Head coach Tom Coughlin said he's "going to have to wait and see" when Brown will return. It's unclear if RBs Peyton Hillis and Brandon Jacobs will have a roster spot when Brown returns.

Fantasy Tip: It appears as if Brown is much closer to returning than David Wilson (neck). Brown could return in Week 10. Grab him off the waiver wire now and stash him if he's still available.

Giants | Unlikely to release Peyton Hillis

Mon, 28 Oct 2013 14:03:06 -0700

The New York Giants likely will not release RB Peyton Hillis when RB Andre Brown (leg) is activated because he has been running the ball well and has been a good blocker and receiver in the passing game.

Giants | Brandon Jacobs inactive

Sun, 27 Oct 2013 08:21:41 -0700

New York Giants RB Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) has been declared inactive for Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Peyton Hillis and Michael Cox likely will share playing time at running back in the game. Hillis could be a starting option or a flex option while Cox should only be seen as a flex option.

Giants | Brandon Jacobs doubtful

Fri, 25 Oct 2013 10:45:27 -0700

New York Giants RB Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) is officially listed as doubtful for Week 8. RBs Peyton Hillis and Michael Cox will split repetitions for the second straight week.

Fantasy Tip: Hillis is worth a start, but Cox should only be a flex option, at best, in cavernous leagues. Jacobs' short-term value is dwindling by the day with the emergence of Hillis and the returns of David Wilson (neck) and Andre Brown (leg) looming.

Giants | Peyton Hillis ready for bigger role

Fri, 25 Oct 2013 09:51:19 -0700

New York Giants RB Peyton Hillis said he's ready to take on a bigger role in the running game after making his season debut in Week 7. "Most definitely," Hillis said. "I think it always takes a couple weeks to get back into shape when you're on the couch for five weeks. I'm thinking that, no matter what they ask me to do, my body is going to be in a lot better shape than it was last week, for sure."

Fantasy Tip: At least for another week, Hillis is a decent option for starting lineups as an RB2 or 3, especially with Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) ailing. Hillis is a short-term solution, however, with David Wilson (neck) and Andre Brown (leg) looming on the horizon.

Giants | Brandon Jacobs not committing to return

Thu, 24 Oct 2013 12:09:24 -0700

New York Giants RB Brandon Jacobs (hamstring), who missed practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 24, said it "feels good" but won't commit to returning in Week 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles because "hamstrings are tricky."

Fantasy Tip: Don't expect to rely on Jacobs this weekend. Peyton Hillis looked good in his debut in Week 7 and should receive the majority of touches again against the Eagles. Hillis is a flex play in deeper leagues.

Giants | Peyton Hillis finds end zone

Mon, 21 Oct 2013 21:05:15 -0700

New York Giants RB Peyton Hillis carried 18 times for just 36 yards in the Week 7 game against the Minnesota Vikings Monday, Oct. 21. However, he was able to score a rushing touchdown in his first game with the team.

Fantasy Tip: Hillis was just signed mid-week by the team, and he made an instant splash, also catching five balls for 45 yards. Hillis might be a decent short-term fantasy option as an RB3 or flex option in leagues of 12 or more teams if you're desperate for help at the RB position.

Giants | Michael Cox expected to start

Mon, 21 Oct 2013 15:12:09 -0700

New York Giants RB Michael Cox is expected to start at running back in the team's Week 7 game.

Fantasy Tip: Cox is expected to start but will be sharing playing time with Peyton Hillis during the game. Cox should only be considered a flex option in deeper leagues.

Giants | Peyton Hillis signs

Wed, 16 Oct 2013 07:55:30 -0700

The New York Giants signed free-agent RB Peyton Hillis (Buccaneers) to an undisclosed deal.
