Penske Championship Racing | A.J. Allmendinger could be rehired

Mon, 17 Sep 2012 09:09:40 -0700

Penske Championship Racing owner Roger Penske said he would reconsider rehiring driver A.J. Allmendinger after he was suspended and released following a failed drug test in July. NASCAR | A.J. Allmendinger's defense disputed

Thu, 16 Aug 2012 08:53:40 -0700

It's highly unlikely that former Penske Championship Racing driver A.J. Allmendinger's positive test for amphetamines was the result of a pill that he took one time, according to a source close to the situation. Also, it's unlikely that Allmendinger will complete his Road to Recovery program by the end of August.

Penske Championship Racing | A.J. Allmendinger released

Wed, 01 Aug 2012 08:47:23 -0700

Penske Championship Racing driver A.J. Allmendinger was released Wednesday, Aug. 1, following his suspension last week after a second urine test confirmed that he tested positive for amphetamines.

Fantasy Tip: Sam Hornish Jr. will likely sub in Allmendinger's car for the remainder of the Sprint Cup schedule, but he shouldn't be considered for more than a weak third or fourth driver most weeks. There's a chance Allmendinger will be signed by another team, but the odds aren't great, and the chances it'll be for a team that'll make him remotely fantasy valuable are even worse.
