The Associated Press reports Bill Davis Racing driver Jacques Villeneuve has lured former IndyCar owner Barry Green out of retirement. Green owned teams that Villeneuve won championships with in the 1990s. Villeneuve and Green will work together to help find Villeneuve sponsors and a full-time ride.

Bill Davis Racing announced the team continues to support driver Jacques Villeneuve and his NASCAR career despite announcing other drivers will be stepping behind the No. 27 Toyota Camry in the coming races. "We know that Jacques has the talent and the desire to be in NASCAR, and are diligently working on a long term relationship with him," commented team owner Bill Davis.

David Newton, of ESPN.com, reports Bill Davis Racing driver Jacques Villeneuve 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season is at a stand still until BDR finds a sponsor for the driver and his car. Villeneuve will be replaced by driver Mike Skinner to compete at the California Speedway race unless a sponsor is found within 24 hours for Villeneuve. Mike Brown, the general manager at Bill Davis Racing, said there are no plans to use Villeneuve unless they find a sponsor.

Bob Pockrass, of SceneDaily.com, reports Bill Davis Racing team is trying to find a sponsor for driver Jacques Villeneuve and the No. 27 car to determine whether he will attempt to qualify for the Auto Club 500 at California Speedway next week. Villeneuve failed to qualify for the Daytona 500 after crashing during the 150-mile qualifying race Thursday, Feb. 14. Bill Davis said the team absolutely has to find a sponsor and that there are companies in Canada that are interested.

Roush Fenway Racing driver Jamie McMurray, SKI Motorsports driver Stanton Barrett, Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates driver Dario Franchitti and Bill Davis Racing driver Jacques Villeneuve all crashed during the second Gatorade Duel Thursday, Feb. 14. Franchitti and McMurray are in the top 35 in owner's points and will race in the Daytona 500.
