Patriots | Brandon LaFell the top option outside

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 15:23:27 -0700

New England Patriots WR Brandon LaFell played a team-high 77 out of 84 offensive snaps in Week 5 against the Cincinnati Bengals, and he's clearly now the top outside receiving option for the team. WR Danny Amendola (20 out of 84 snaps) wasn't used much because the Patriots didn't use many three-receiver sets.

Fantasy Tip: After a 119-yard, one-touchdown performance in Week 4, LaFell disappointed with just one catch on four targets against the Bengals. However, the fact that he played the most snaps of all receivers is a big positive. It's time to start giving him a look on the waiver wire if he's out there in your league.

Patriots | Danny Amendola had offseason repair

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 07:49:18 -0700

New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola (groin) disclosed that he had offseason surgery to repair his adductor muscle. Amendola has had trouble gaining separation from defenders, but he declined to use the operation as an excuse.

Fantasy Tip: Amendola is still worth rostering in deeper leagues, but it's clear QB Tom Brady doesn't have a lot of faith in him right now. He'll cost you $3,000 (6% of your cap) on FantasyScore this week. However, it would be nice to see progress before making that cheap gamble.

Patriots | Danny Amendola has quiet game

Mon, 08 Sep 2014 05:46:16 -0700

New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola had three catches for 16 yards in Week 1. He played 71 percent of the snaps in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Amendola could be at a solid price point for a WR3 on FantasyScore for Week 2 against the Vikings.

Patriots | Josh Boyce well behind others

Fri, 22 Aug 2014 22:41:55 -0700

New England Patriots WR Josh Boyce did not play an offensive snap until there was 1:26 remaining in the third quarter of the preseason game Friday, Aug. 22, against the Carolina Panthers. He is considered to be decisively behind WRs Kenbrell Thompkins, Aaron Dobson (foot), Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola and Brandon LaFell on the depth chart.

Patriots | Danny Amendola working with Tom Brady's trainer

Mon, 28 Jul 2014 18:33:17 -0700

New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola has spent the offseason working with trainer Alex Guerrero. Guerrero is also QB Tom Brady's trainer, and he helped WR Julian Edelman prior to last season.

Fantasy Tip: Amendola has usually produced solid numbers when healthy, especially in PPR formats, but he has battled a variety of injuries throughout his career. He has WR2 potential in PPR formats, but because of his injury history, he should be drafted as a WR3.

Patriots | Danny Amendola and Tom Brady building chemistry

Fri, 20 Jun 2014 12:17:58 -0700

New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola and QB Tom Brady have developed a nice rapport this offseason, according to a source. WR Kenbrell Thompkins also impressed during drills, beating new CB Brandon Browner frequently.

Fantasy Tip: Now the trick will be for Amendola to develop a rapport with good health, as he has missed 11 games the past two seasons. If Amendola can stay healthy and further his connection with Brady, he could be an under-the-radar sleeper in 2014.

Patriots | Danny Amendola impressing

Mon, 09 Jun 2014 05:30:39 -0700

New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola looks like the player that impressed the team in practice last year early on in OTAs.

Fantasy Tip: Amendola still has a lot of value and doesn't seem to have the hype leading up to drafts. He makes for a great WR2 in PPR and standard leagues.

Patriots | Danny Amendola no longer the go-to guy

Wed, 04 Jun 2014 16:09:19 -0700

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is looking forward to a more productive season from WR Danny Amendola in his second year with the team. "Danny's not dissimilar to the rookies," McDaniels said. "He wasn't here before, and he had an opportunity to get a foundation and a system last year. And now it's his second year, and it will be exciting to see Danny's growth. Any time you're in your second year in a system, you're more comfortable. We're excited to see what he does." However, after the team expected him to be a big part of the offense in 2013, they aren't trusting him to be a featured piece in 2014.

Fantasy Tip: Julian Edelman, Shane Vereen, Rob Gronkowski and possibly even Brandon LaFell, Aaron Dobson or Kenbrell Thompkins could be in line to see more targets from Tom Brady this year. Amendola, mainly thanks to his injury history, may struggle to scratch his way into the top-50 wide receivers.
