Chargers | Stevie Johnson goes on IR

Mon, 15 Aug 2016 14:39:57 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Aug. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Dontrelle Inman and Tyrell Williams likely will compete for the No. 3 receiver job during the preseason. Inman posted decent numbers last season and would be a late-round option in deeper leagues if he wins the job. Williams probably can be avoided during drafts but could be a waiver wire option.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson going on IR

Thu, 11 Aug 2016 11:22:39 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (knee) will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list because of his knee injury.

Fantasy Tip: Dontrelle Inman, James Jones and Tyrell Williams are all candidates to receive a bigger role with Johnson out for the season. Inman probably has the most fantasy value among the three players and could be a late-round option in deeper leagues if he is the No. 3 receiver for the Chargers.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson out for the season

Wed, 10 Aug 2016 17:29:43 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (knee) has learned he will miss the entire 2016 season following surgery to repair his torn meniscus.

Fantasy Tip: Tough blow for the Chargers, as Johnson surprisingly re-emerged last year in his first season with the team when he hauled in 45 receptions for 497 yards in 10 games, to go along with three touchdowns. With him out, that should undoubtedly provide boosts for the likes of Keenan Allen, Travis Benjamin and Antonio Gates. The biggest beneficiary of this news, however, looks like it will be Dontrelle Inman, who should pop up on more radars as a result of this news.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson has surgery

Tue, 09 Aug 2016 15:51:09 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (knee) underwent surgery on his torn meniscus Tuesday, Aug. 9, according to a source. The surgery went well but there is currently no timetable for his return.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson will probably miss a good chunk of regular season time. With Johnson sidelined a while, Keenan Allen will be counted on even more, while Travis Benjamin, Danny Woodhead and Antonio Gates should also benefit from Johnson's loss. View Allen and Benjamin as a WR1 and WR4, respectively, while Woodhead is an RB1 in PPR formats and Gates borders the TE1 line.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson nearing surgery

Tue, 02 Aug 2016 09:14:15 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (knee) will undergo surgery in the "next couple days," according to Chargers head coach Mike McCoy. Johnson's prognosis is expected to be determined following the procedure.

Fantasy Tip: Until more is known, Johnson's injury really doesn't matter too much for his already non-existent value. A season-long setback would pave the way for San Diego to bring in a veteran or give Dontrelle Inman more action.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson to receive second option

Mon, 01 Aug 2016 11:07:55 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (knee) will receive a second option on his torn meniscus before he undergoes surgery. Johnson's timetable will be known after the surgery.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see if Johnson will only miss a few weeks or if he will be sidelined for several months. Johnson was expected to be the No. 3 receiver for the Chargers this season, but he is now a risky option for owners. Dontrelle Inman could receive a bigger role in the passing game if Johnson misses significant time but may not be a great option if he does not receive the targets.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson tears cartilage

Mon, 01 Aug 2016 09:41:31 -0700

Updating a previous story, San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (knee) suffered a torn meniscus Sunday, July 31, and will undergo surgery soon, according to a source. Johnson's season may be in jeopardy.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson was in line to be the No. 3 receiver and work out of the slot. Third-year wideout Dontrelle Inman should have the inroad to the job, coming off a 34-486-3 line. At 6-3, 205 pounds, he creates a mismatch against most defenders. Unfortunately, Inman may not see enough targets to matter on a regular basis. Avoid him on draft day.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson injures knee

Sun, 31 Jul 2016 17:22:16 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (knee) was carried off the practice field Sunday, July 31, after injuring his right knee during a passing drill.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson had been working with the first-team offense and was in line to be the No. 3 receiver. If the injury turns out to be serious, Dontrelle Inman could slide into the same role and would be worth keeping an eye on.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson inactive

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 12:09:45 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (groin) is officially inactive for Week 17 against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't be a big surprise with the Chargers having nothing to play for in their last game of the season. Dontrelle Inman, Javontee Herndon and Malcom Floyd should see more targets with Johnson out, but they have a really tough matchup against an elite Denver Broncos pass defense.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson questionable

Fri, 01 Jan 2016 13:23:22 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (groin) was limited during practice Friday, Jan. 1, and is listed as questionable for the Week 17 game against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check the inactive list to see if Johnson ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) will be able to play in Week 17. He has missed the last few games but had a solid role in the passing game before he suffered his injury. Owners n FantasyScore should look for other options to use in their lineups.
