Chargers | Stevie Johnson inactive

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 12:09:45 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (groin) is officially inactive for Week 17 against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't be a big surprise with the Chargers having nothing to play for in their last game of the season. Dontrelle Inman, Javontee Herndon and Malcom Floyd should see more targets with Johnson out, but they have a really tough matchup against an elite Denver Broncos pass defense.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson questionable

Fri, 01 Jan 2016 13:23:22 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (groin) was limited during practice Friday, Jan. 1, and is listed as questionable for the Week 17 game against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check the inactive list to see if Johnson ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) will be able to play in Week 17. He has missed the last few games but had a solid role in the passing game before he suffered his injury. Owners n FantasyScore should look for other options to use in their lineups.

Thu, 31 Dec 2015 14:54:04 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Javontee Herndon (chest) and WR Stevie Johnson (groin) were limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Herndon ($2,000, 4.4% of cap) and Johnson ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) appear to have a decent chance to play against the Denver Broncos this week, but owners should keep an eye on the situation. Johnson likely has more value between the two, but neither is a great starting option because of the tough matchup.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson will not play

Thu, 24 Dec 2015 16:18:43 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (groin) has been declared inactive for the Week 16 game against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Dontrelle Inman ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) and Javontee Herndon ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should continue to be involved in the passing game with Johnson still sidelined. Both players have posted decent numbers over the last several weeks and could be cheaper options on FantasyScore if owners want to save some money.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson, Ladarius Green questionable

Wed, 23 Dec 2015 12:37:25 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (groin) and TE Ladarius Green (ankle) are listed as questionable for Week 16 against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) would give the Chargers some much needed receiving depth if he's able to play tomorrow night. He has missed the last two games, though, so he could be a little rusty. Green ($2,000, 4.0%) has been a non-factor since Antonio Gates returned. Keep an eye on Johnson over the next couple days as he might provide at least a flex spot on FantasyScore, but Green can be avoided altogether.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson still limited

Tue, 22 Dec 2015 13:57:18 -0800

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) has now been limited the last two days, but he could still play Thursday night against the Oakland Raiders. Johnson has more value in PPR scoring formats like FantasyScore, so he would be worth a look at least for your flex spot.

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 11:48:09 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (groin) is listed as doubtful for Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Dontrelle Inman's ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) stock rises even more in a great matchup against the Miami Dolphins. He's a basement option on FantasyScore.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson out again

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 16:15:04 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (groin) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) was not able to play in the last game, and it looks like he may miss the Week 15 against the Miami Dolphins if he does not return to practice. Johnson has played well this season, but owners should look for other options to use this week.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson misses practice

Wed, 16 Dec 2015 14:24:28 -0800

Updating a previous report, San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (groin) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 16. WR Dontrelle Inman (neck) is ahead of Johnson in his recovery and is doing position drills.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like it may be tough for Johnson ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) to return this weekend. Inman ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) and Javontee Herndon ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) are attractive as deep sleepers if Johnson sits out. The Miami Dolphins are a top-10 fantasy matchup for receivers in 2015.

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (groin) and WR Dontrelle Inman (neck) returned to practice Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson, Dontrelle Inman out

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 11:43:35 -0800

San Diego Chargers WRs Stevie Johnson (groin) and Dontrelle Inman (neck) have both been ruled out for Week 14 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: It seems Philip Rivers loses a weapon on offense every week. Malcom Floyd ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) and Javontee Herndon ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will be his two main receivers. The Chiefs are one of the best matchups for wide receivers, so both Floyd and Herndon are worth looks as deep sleepers in this one.

Chargers | Two Chargers sitting out

Thu, 10 Dec 2015 11:25:10 -0800

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) and Inman ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) have a tough matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs this week. They'll probably have to practice Friday to play Sunday.

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 15:51:35 -0800

San Diego Chargers WRs Dontrelle Inman (neck) and Stevie Johnson (groin) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 9.

Fantasy Tip: If Inman ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) and Johnson ($5,100, 10.2%) continue to miss practice, the Chargers could be pretty thin at wide receiver this week. If either Inman or Johnson are sidelined, Javontee Herndon ($2,000, 4.0%) and Malcom Floyd ($2,300, 4.6%) could see more targets, but Floyd is a more promising FantasyScore flier.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson sits

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 11:56:29 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (groin) is out of practice Wednesday, Dec. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) has a tough draw against the Kansas City Chiefs this week if he's able to go. There are probably better midrange options on FantasyScore.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson's status uncertain

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 15:19:39 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson's (groin) status for the Week 14 game against the Kansas City Chiefs is uncertain at this point because of the groin injury he suffered in Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson's status will be known later in the week, so owners will need to check on his practice participation during the week. Johnson has played well in the last few games prior to the injury and could be a solid starting option if he is cleared to play against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14.

Sun, 06 Dec 2015 16:26:53 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (groin) left the Week 13 game against the Denver Broncos due to a groin injury and he was unable to return.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson stays hot

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 17:48:46 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson finished with seven catches for 92 yards and a touchdown in a 31-25 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has been on a roll since Keenan Allen went down, compiling 214 yards over the last three games and catching seven passes in all three. He should be a steady performer going forward as the de facto No. 1 receiver for San Diego.

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 17:13:14 -0800

Mon, 09 Nov 2015 21:20:20 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson posted a team-high seven catches for 68 yards in the Week 9 game against the Chicago Bears Monday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) has the most experience of any San Diego receiver right now after Keenan Allen was lost for the season and Malcom Floyd left with a shoulder injury. After the bye Johnson is worth remembering in FantasyScore.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson to be busier

Mon, 02 Nov 2015 21:05:39 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson is likely to see more targets with WR Keenan Allen (kidney) out for "some time" due to an injury to his kidney sustained in the Week 8 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) isn't quite as attractive as Malcom Floyd ($4,400, 8.8% of cap), but he could be a nice mid-tier FantasyScore option in the next week or two.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson will be in uniform

Sun, 25 Oct 2015 11:48:10 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (hamstring) is officially active for the Week 7 game against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) likely will fill the role as the slot receiver and could see more targets with Antonio Gates out of the lineup. Johnson is a risky option since he is coming off a hamstring injury but could be a solid option for fantasy owners.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson should play in Week 7

Sun, 25 Oct 2015 07:34:12 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (hamstring) is expected to play in the Week 7 game against the Oakland Raiders even though he is questionable for the game.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) was able to practice all week and should regain his role as the slot receiver. He could see additional targets if Antonio Gates is not able to play. Owners could consider using Johnson in their lineups because of the favorable matchup.

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 23, and is listed as questionable for the Week 7 game against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) was able to practice all week, so he appears to be on track to play in Week 7. Johnson will be a risky option because of the injury but could be the starting option for owners since he could see more targets if Keenan Allen or Antonio Gates is ruled out.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson listed as limited

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 16:55:03 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) appears to have a chance to play in Week 7 against the Oakland Raiders if he does not suffer a setback. Johnson could be a risky option for owners if he is active this week because of his injury but could also miss more targets during the game if Keenan Allen or Antonio Gates is not able to play.

Wed, 21 Oct 2015 12:14:10 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (hamstring) is practicing Wednesday, Oct. 21, for the first time since exiting San Diego's Week 4 contest.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is an underrated wide receiver when he's at full health. He'll need to be monitored as the week continues, but if he continues to practice and is able to play, he's not a bad investment on FantasyScore this week against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Malcom Floyd ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) and Antonio Gates ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) should see more targets in the game. Gates should be a starting option in most leagues, but owners probably will able to find better options than Floyd.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson doubtful

Fri, 16 Oct 2015 11:47:24 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Antonio Gates' ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) return kind of nullifies Johnson's impact anyway. Gates is a high-end tight end to consider on FantasyScore.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson doesn't practice

Thu, 15 Oct 2015 14:49:31 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 15.

Fantasy Tip: That marks two in a row Johnson hasn't practiced, so he could be sitting this weekend. Keenan Allen ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) and Antonio Gates ($5,500, 11.0%) would be the two main benefactors of Johnson's absence. Gates is a strong play again especially at a relatively cheap price on FantasyScore.

Sat, 10 Oct 2015 12:19:00 -0700

Fantasy Tip: With Johnson out, Keenan Allen ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) and Antonio Gates ($5,400, 10.8%) probably benefit the most. Both are worth starting on FantasyScore this week.

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 10:41:19 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (hamstring) is out of practice Friday, Oct. 9, and hasn't practiced all week.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) looks iffy for Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Antonio Gates' ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) return should pick up the slack. He's a midrange TE on FantasyScore.

Chargers | No Stevie Johnson Thursday

Thu, 08 Oct 2015 14:46:38 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (hamstring) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has an extra day to recover with the Chargers playing the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night in Week 5. However, it's not looking good so far. Keenan Allen ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) and Antonio Gates ($5,400, 10.8% of cap), who is making his season debut after a suspension, will be fine pick on FantasyScore, especially if Johnson doesn't play.

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (hamstring) limped off the field in the third quarter of the Week 4 game against the Cleveland Browns due to an apparent right hamstring injury. As he walked to the sidelines he appeared to be grabbing the back of his right leg.

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 09:42:04 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson and RB Danny Woodhead are candidates to catch passes between the numbers for the team against the Detroit Lions in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is expected to be the team's slot receiver this season and should have chances to catch passes. Woodhead ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) likely will be used as a receiver out of the backfield and could create mismatches for the offense. Woodhead likely has more value in fantasy leagues and could be a flex option. Johnson could be a cheaper option on FantasyScore but is not a must-start option.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson working well with QB

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 11:19:23 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson has shown a good chemistry with QB Philip Rivers during offseason workouts and training camp. "Even in OTAs and especially in the first 10 days of camp we've had a lot of things come that are trust-building plays and things that happen where he made a great catch and I threw it in a spot where it's got to be you or nobody, or something where we both felt it in the red zone and felt a void and knew I would do that," Rivers said. "Those kinds of things give you confidence, and he's been really good."

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is expected to work as a slot receiver this season, which could give him some favorable matchups in coverages. Johnson could be a late-round option in deeper leagues since he could receive some targets early in the season.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson to play outside, in slot

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 12:08:49 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson will be used on the outside as well as in the slot this season.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has already said it doesn't matter where he lines up on the field, but the Chargers are expected to use him in a variety of ways. It remains to be seen who will stay healthy and how involved they'll be, but Johnson could very well end up being the No. 3 wide receiver behind Keenan Allen and Malcom Floyd. View him as a WR5 for now.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson likely to be used in slot

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 11:06:30 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson is expected to be used as the slot receiver this season and could see increased targets early in the season because of the suspension to TE Antonio Gates. Johnson said he does not care about where he lines up on offense.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has had a couple of down years in the last two seasons but will look to be more involved in the Chargers' passing game. Johnson could be a late-round option in deeper leagues and could be a waiver wire option if he has a solid start to the season and is available in leagues.

Chargers | Stevie Johnson has chemistry with QB

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 10:16:35 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson showed good chemistry with QB Philip Rivers during offseason workouts.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson should have a solid role in the offense since he signed a three-year deal with the team this offseason. It is a good sign that he is building chemistry with Rivers, and he could be a late-round option in fantasy leagues this season.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson will likely be the No. 3 receiver on the Chargers this year behind Keenan Allen and Malcom Floyd. He was a big red-zone threat with the Buffalo Bills, so if he makes that his calling card again, he could hold some fantasy value this season.
