Hendrick Motorsports driver Jimmie Johnson had the penalties that were levied against him for the Daytona 500 overturned Tuesday, March 20. NASCAR lifted the six-race suspension against crew chief Chad Knaus and car chief Ron Malec, and they also returned 25 points to Johnson. The $100,000 fine for Knaus was upheld.

Hendrick Motorsports driver Jimmie Johnson was docked 25 driver points Wednesday, Feb. 29, and crew chief Chad Knaus was suspended six races by NASCAR after the No. 48 car failed an inspection Feb. 17 before the Budweiser Shootout. Car owner Jeff Gordon was docked 25 owner points, and Knaus was also fined $100,000.

Hendrick Motorsports crew chief Chad Knaus, the crew chief for driver Jimmie Johnson, said the team will have mostly a new pit crew this year, according to ESPN.com's David Newton. Knaus and crew chief Steve Letarte, the crew chief for driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., will take three pit crews to the track every week. "We've always tried to work on the depth of our crew, but we've never been able to successfully pull that off," Knaus said. "We think we've got it going in the right direction. It may take a little bit, let's be honest, to get everything gelling in the right direction."

Hendrick Motorsports extended the contracts of crew chiefs Alan Gustafson and Chad Knaus Friday, April 30, according to The Associated Press. Gustafson is the crew chief for driver Mark Martin, and it is believed that he received a four-year deal through the 2014 season. He will likely be paired with Richard Petty Motorsports driver Kasey Kahne when he joins the team. Knaus is the crew chief for driver Jimmie Johnson, and his extension is for five years and will run through 2015. Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Contrary to a previous report, CBSSports.com reports Hendrick Motorsports crew chief Chad Knaus, the crew chief for driver Jimmie Johnson, has denied an ESPN report that he has signed a contract extension through the 2015 Sprint Cup season. "We've only started very light conversations," Knaus said. "I don't have a new contract, and we've barely had enough conversation for me to agree to anything."
