White Sox | Tyler Flowers out Thursday

Thu, 03 Sep 2015 09:17:22 -0700

Chicago White Sox C Tyler Flowers is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Sept. 3. C Geovany Soto is starting and is hitting seventh against Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson.

Fantasy Tip: On a day with very few games to choose from on FantasyScore and when many starting catchers could be rested, you could certainly do worse than Soto ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) as your starting catcher.

White Sox | Tyler Flowers receives night off

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 15:54:07 -0700

Chicago White Sox C Tyler Flowers is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 25. C Geovany Soto is starting behind the plate and batting seventh against Boston Red Sox SP Wade Miley Tuesday.

Fantasy Tip: Flowers ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has really struggled down the stretch with a .205/.263/.273 slash line in the second half. He should be avoided everywhere but cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues. Soto ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) owns a .324/.410/.618 line over 39 plate appearances against lefties this season, and he checks out as a potential value play at FantasyScore Tuesday.

White Sox | Tyler Flowers sitting out

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 16:02:02 -0700

Chicago White Sox C Tyler Flowers is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Aug. 20. C Geovany Soto is behind the plate and is hitting eighth against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Nick Tropeano.

Fantasy Tip: Soto ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) does have eight home runs on the season, which isn't bad for a backup catcher, and he's facing a young pitcher making just his third major league start this year. Soto is a low-end catching target on FantasyScore that could be appealing if you're looking for salary cap relief.

White Sox | Tyler Flowers resting Friday

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 09:50:43 -0700

Chicago White Sox C Tyler Flowers is not in the starting lineup Friday, Aug. 14. C Geovany Soto is starting and hitting ninth against Chicago Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks.

Fantasy Tip: Soto ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) has decent power for a backup catcher, but he's hitting just .214 (22-for-103) with six home runs and 13 RBI against right-handers, and he won't generate much interest on FantasyScore hitting ninth.

White Sox | Tyler Flowers playing Monday

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 16:06:22 -0700

Chicago White Sox C Tyler Flowers (dehydration), who was pulled from the game because of dehydration Sunday, Aug. 9, is back in the starting lineup Monday, Aug. 10.

Fantasy Tip: With Flowers ($3,400, 6.8% of cap), there's not a ton of offensive upside, although he does have seven home runs and 28 RBI. He's facing Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim starter Matt Shoemaker, who has been vulnerable to the long ball this season. Flowers remains a sleeper pick for your catching spot.

White Sox | Tyler Flowers resting in day game

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 09:00:02 -0700

Chicago White Sox C Tyler Flowers is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 5. C Geovany Soto is behind the plate and is batting eighth against Tampa Bay Rays SP Erasmo Ramirez.

Fantasy Tip: Soto ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has six of his eight home runs against right-handed pitchers this year, but he's also hitting only .211 (20-for-95) against them. In all but one outing last month, Ramirez gave up just one earned run in four outings. Soto is a low-end catching option this afternoon.

White Sox | No Tyler Flowers Tuesday

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 15:01:29 -0700

Chicago White Sox C Tyler Flowers is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, July 28. C Geovany Soto is starting and is hitting sixth against Boston Red Sox SP Wade Miley.

Fantasy Tip: Soto ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has solid numbers in a small sample size against lefties (.300-1-3 in 30 at-bats), making him at least worth consideration as a deep sleeper pick for your catching spot Tuesday evening.
