Nationals | Wilson Ramos not starting Saturday

Sat, 28 May 2016 15:47:19 -0700

Washington Nationals C Wilson Ramos is not starting Saturday, May 28, against the St. Louis Cardinals. Ramos' replacement is C Jose Lobaton, who will bat eighth against Cardinals SP Adam Wainwright.

Fantasy Tip: This is simply a day off for Ramos, who has been in the lineup the entire week and managed at least one hit per game. Lobaton has a few hits but no extra-base power, and that should be a red flag for your DFS lineup. Leave him on the bench.

Nationals | Three Nats on the bench

Sat, 21 May 2016 13:58:36 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth, 1B Ryan Zimmerman and C Wilson Ramos are out of the lineup Saturday, May 21. OF Chris Heisey is hitting second, 1B Clint Robinson hits fifth and C Jose Lobaton hits eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Heisey has rather pedestrian numbers on the year, but he has two homers in 15 at-bats this month. He has a tough draw against Jose Fernandez, but he has upside ahead of Bryce Harper. Robinson has a .294-2-6 line in 17 at-bats this month and has taken Fernandez deep before. He's a fringe option worth consideration today. Lobaton doesn't have the offensive potential for the stream today.

Nationals | Wilson Ramos resting Wednesday

Wed, 18 May 2016 12:55:21 -0700

Washington Nationals C Wilson Ramos is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 18. C Jose Lobaton is behind the plate and is hitting eighth against New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon.

Fantasy Tip: Lobaton is a low-end catcher selection in DFS action. He's batting just .216 with no home runs and three RBI in 37 at-bats this year.

Nationals | Wilson Ramos takes a seat

Fri, 13 May 2016 12:05:51 -0700

Washington Nationals C Wilson Ramos is not in the starting lineup Friday, May 13. C Jose Lobaton is doing the catching and is hitting eighth against Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler.

Fantasy Tip: Lobaton is a very risky low-end catcher in daily formats tonight. The backstop has six hits in 34 at-bats (.176) and sports a career average of .223 in seven seasons. Look elsewhere.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy, Wilson Ramos resting

Sat, 07 May 2016 10:48:58 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy and C Wilson Ramos are not in the starting lineup against Chicago Cubs SP Jason Hammel Saturday, May 7. INF Stephen Drew will play second base and bat seventh, while C Jose Lobaton starts behind the plate and bats eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Neither Drew nor Lobaton should be viewed as a viable fantasy option this afternoon. Drew is just 3-for-30 at the plate this season with 11 strikeouts, while Lobaton is 6-for-33 with three RBI.

Nationals | Wilson Ramos takes a seat

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 12:05:44 -0700

Washington Nationals C Wilson Ramos is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 26. C Jose Lobaton is doing the catching and is batting eighth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Vincent Velasquez.

Fantasy Tip: Lobaton isn't much of a hitter (career-high seven home runs), so he's a low-end catching option in DFS action, especially against up-and-coming pitching prospect Velasquez.

Nationals | Three RBI for Jose Lobaton

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 19:19:06 -0700

Washington Nationals C Jose Lobaton went 2-for-3 with three RBI, a run scored and a walk in an 8-4 win over the Minnesota Twins Friday, April 22.

Fantasy Tip: Lobaton entered the game 1-for-7, so between his limited playing time and typical numbers, he is nothing more than a shot-in-the-dark play in DFS formats.

Nationals | Wilson Ramos resting

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 11:54:03 -0700

Washington Nationals C Wilson Ramos is not in the starting lineup Friday, April 22. C Jose Lobaton gets the call and is hitting eighth against Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson.

Fantasy Tip: Lobaton hit under .200 in 136 at-bats as the backup catcher for Washington last year and doesn't carry much value at all in any fantasy leagues. You can do better at the position if you're looking to go cheap in daily contests Friday.

Nationals | Washington sitting four starters

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 10:13:32 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Michael Taylor, 1B Ryan Zimmerman, C Wilson Ramos and SS Danny Espinosa are not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Charlie Morton Sunday, April 17. OF Chris Heisey will start in center field and is batting first. 1B Clint Robinson will start at first base and is batting sixth. SS Stephen Drew will start at shortstop and is batting seventh, while C Jose Lobaton will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: All four players in the starting lineup have not received a lot of playing time this season, but Heisey, Drew and Lobaton have posted decent batting averages so far. Owners probably should be able to find better options for their starting lineups and can avoid the players.

Nationals | Day off for Wilson Ramos

Tue, 12 Apr 2016 12:09:25 -0700

Washington Nationals C Wilson Ramos is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 12. C Jose Lobaton is behind the dish and is batting eighth against Atlanta Braves SP Jhoulys Chacin.

Fantasy Tip: Lobaton has a favorable matchup, but remember the backup backstop hit only .199 with three home runs and 20 RBI in 2015. This is his first action of 2016, and he's a low-end daily catching option.
