Nationals | Wilson Ramos takes a seat

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 12:05:44 -0700

Washington Nationals C Wilson Ramos is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 26. C Jose Lobaton is doing the catching and is batting eighth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Vincent Velasquez.

Fantasy Tip: Lobaton isn't much of a hitter (career-high seven home runs), so he's a low-end catching option in DFS action, especially against up-and-coming pitching prospect Velasquez.

Nationals | Three RBI for Jose Lobaton

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 19:19:06 -0700

Washington Nationals C Jose Lobaton went 2-for-3 with three RBI, a run scored and a walk in an 8-4 win over the Minnesota Twins Friday, April 22.

Fantasy Tip: Lobaton entered the game 1-for-7, so between his limited playing time and typical numbers, he is nothing more than a shot-in-the-dark play in DFS formats.

Nationals | Wilson Ramos resting

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 11:54:03 -0700

Washington Nationals C Wilson Ramos is not in the starting lineup Friday, April 22. C Jose Lobaton gets the call and is hitting eighth against Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson.

Fantasy Tip: Lobaton hit under .200 in 136 at-bats as the backup catcher for Washington last year and doesn't carry much value at all in any fantasy leagues. You can do better at the position if you're looking to go cheap in daily contests Friday.

Nationals | Washington sitting four starters

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 10:13:32 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Michael Taylor, 1B Ryan Zimmerman, C Wilson Ramos and SS Danny Espinosa are not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Charlie Morton Sunday, April 17. OF Chris Heisey will start in center field and is batting first. 1B Clint Robinson will start at first base and is batting sixth. SS Stephen Drew will start at shortstop and is batting seventh, while C Jose Lobaton will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: All four players in the starting lineup have not received a lot of playing time this season, but Heisey, Drew and Lobaton have posted decent batting averages so far. Owners probably should be able to find better options for their starting lineups and can avoid the players.

Nationals | Day off for Wilson Ramos

Tue, 12 Apr 2016 12:09:25 -0700

Washington Nationals C Wilson Ramos is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 12. C Jose Lobaton is behind the dish and is batting eighth against Atlanta Braves SP Jhoulys Chacin.

Fantasy Tip: Lobaton has a favorable matchup, but remember the backup backstop hit only .199 with three home runs and 20 RBI in 2015. This is his first action of 2016, and he's a low-end daily catching option.

Nationals | Jose Lobaton to start Tuesday

Mon, 11 Apr 2016 20:37:47 -0700

Washington Nationals C Jose Lobaton will make the start behind the plate Tuesday, April 12, against the Atlanta Braves.

Fantasy Tip: Lobaton will give Wilson Ramos a rest. Lobaton might be a solid low-priced DFS option if you want to save salary to spread across other positions.

Nationals | Wilson Ramos sitting out

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 07:58:36 -0700

Washington Nationals C Wilson Ramos is not in the starting lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the New York Mets Saturday, Oct. 3. C Jose Lobaton will start at catcher against SP Noah Syndergaard and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Ramos ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) should be in the lineup for the second game of the doubleheader. Lobaton ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting only .203 this season and is not a great option for owners.

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth and C Wilson Ramos are not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Harang Sunday, Sept. 27. OF Matt den Dekker will start in left field and is batting seventh, while C Jose Lobaton is starting at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: den Dekker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) and Lobaton ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) have not posted great batting averages in their limited playing time this season and should be avoided by owners.

Nationals | Wilson Ramos out again

Tue, 22 Sep 2015 13:18:08 -0700

Washington Nationals C Wilson Ramos is not in the starting lineup for the second straight day Tuesday, Sept. 22. C Jose Lobaton is behind the plate and is batting eighth against Baltimore Orioles SP Ubaldo Jimenez.

Fantasy Tip: The odds are not in your favor of getting a good game out of Lobaton ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) if you take him for salary cap relief at the catching position.

Nationals | Wilson Ramos out against Baltimore

Mon, 21 Sep 2015 12:39:38 -0700

Washington Nationals C Wilson Ramos is not in the starting lineup Monday, Sept. 21. C Jose Lobaton is starting behind the plate and batting eighth against Baltimore Orioles SP Ubaldo Jimenez Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Ramos ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) in all formats Monday. He is struggling lately with a .559 OPS over his past 24 games and isn't worth a roster spot in the majority of seasonal leagues. Lobaton ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) owns a .200/.270/.236 slash line since the All-Star break and is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief at FantasyScore Monday.
