Wed, 02 Mar 2016 16:00:09 -0800
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the Cowboys will not select a quarterback with their fourth overall pick in the NFL Draft. Head coach Jason Garrett has already said they would like to draft a quarterback, though, whenever that may be.
Fantasy Tip: Tony Romo is expected to make a full recovery from his broken clavicle and subsequent surgery this offseason, so it makes sense that Dallas passes on a quarterback with their first pick. If Romo is fully healthy before the regular season starts, he should be drafted as a fringe QB1.
Sun, 28 Feb 2016 13:20:01 -0800
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is confident the team will add a running back this offseason to work in tandem with RB Darren McFadden.
Fantasy Tip: Some are suggesting the Cowboys could even target Ohio State's Ezekiel Elliott as high as No. 4 overall, but a more likely scenario has them addressing their defense and/or quarterback-in-waiting over the first two days of the draft. Either way, McFadden is highly unlikely to repeat the voluminous workload he did after supplanting Joseph Randle last season and may be no better than a flex option going forward.
Thu, 14 May 2015 16:41:17 -0700
Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones expressed confidence in the team's overall run game Thursday, May 14. "You say the entire running game, and that would be including our tight ends, including our fullback – the entire game – we're better," Jones said. The Cowboys have yet to determine roles for their running backs. As it stands, RB Darren McFadden is at the top of the depth chart, with RBs Joseph Randle, Lance Dunbar and Ryan Williams in the mix.
Fantasy Tip: With McFadden's extensive injury history he'll represent too much uncertainty come draft time. If Joseph Randle remains buried on the depth chart, he'll make for an excellent source of value after he rushed for 6.7 yards per carry on 51 attempts last season.
Fri, 08 May 2015 15:41:47 -0700
Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said the team may be willing to trade their 2016 first round draft choice if they were able to improve their team now.
Tue, 28 Apr 2015 12:47:58 -0700
Dallas Cowboys general manager Jerry Jones said a running back isn't a necessity in this year's draft.
Fantasy Tip: Darren McFadden figures to be the backfield starter as of now as it seems the Cowboys won't be pursuing Adrian Peterson. McFadden would be one of the least reliable starting running backs in the league and should be considered no more than a RB2 at best.

Dallas Cowboys general manager Jerry Jones said it's highly unlikely the team will trade for a player at this point in the year.

Fri, 23 Jan 2015 15:29:30 -0800
Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray is getting support from QB Tony Romo to stay with the team long term. Romo said he is consistently talking to owner Jerry Jones about bringing him back in 2015.
Fantasy Tip: Murray may be the odd man out if the team chooses to re-sign or franchise tag Dez Bryant this offseason. If Murray does indeed land somewhere else, his fantasy value could dip running behind a different offensive line.
Fri, 23 Jan 2015 14:48:34 -0800
Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant is getting support from QB Tony Romo to stay with the team long term. Romo said he is consistently talking to owner Jerry Jones about bringing him back in 2015.

Wed, 07 Jan 2015 15:06:05 -0800
Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett got an endorsement from owner Jerry Jones. Jones said the team will extend the contract of their head coach when the time is right. "I just didn't do it and didn't want to — that is, extend the contract," Jones said. "Jason's been coaching under the same contract actually for about seven years. I've got tremendous confidence in Jason Garrett's growth and how he has evolved as head coach. And so that I felt when the time is right — I didn't think it was right to start the season. And so I felt when the time is right we'll sit down and extend his contract."

Thu, 06 Nov 2014 10:23:09 -0800
Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo could play for another five years, according to owner Jerry Jones. "I think it's realistic for him to play five more years," Jones said. "I'm aware of his back. Only God knows what is in store for his back. I've seen backs out there that you wouldn't believe how they look on the MRIs and how they look on X-rays.
"If you're concerned about his future, then look at his age, and you might say, boy, you need to be thinking about a time when he doesn't play. I don't look at it much differently than that with his back, because there have been three very different types of injuries that have caused him to miss games with his back."
Fantasy Tip: Obviously the big question with Romo will be his back moving forward, but it may be optimistic to think that Romo would be able to last that long with the injury history he has had.

Dallas Cowboys CB Morris Claiborne received praise from owner Jerry Jones for having his heart in the right place. "He's in the right place with his heart," Jones said. "He's an outstanding talent, outstanding athlete. Has got a lot of work to do and has missed the evolving that you'd expect a young player in the NFL to have because of various injuries, various reasons.
"We think, I think, that if he can get in the groove, get his repetition, get in the same groove he was in in the early part of our two-a-days out in California, then I think he can become the player that we expect him to be."
Tue, 23 Sep 2014 10:15:39 -0700
Dallas Cowboys CB Morris Claiborne has not lived up to expectations since being drafted with the sixth overall draft pick in 2012, according to general manager Jerry Jones. "Is he what we had hoped for at this point when we drafted him with the sixth overall pick, giving up the [second-round] pick to go up to the sixth pick to get him? No," Jones said. "But he's going to be a good player."
Fri, 19 Sep 2014 10:30:35 -0700
Dallas Cowboys LB Rolando McClain (groin) may not play in Week 3, according to general manager Jerry Jones. "Well, you'll miss him," Jones said. "On the other hand, I think you can expect him probably not to play, but he won't tell you that. We're not sure when he had this injury – he might have had it early in the game. If you listen to him, he wants to play and thinks he might play, but we have him as doubtful, of course."

The Cowboys finishes last in the league in yards allowed last season. "I can say it this year, we are better right now," Jones said. "And I think better on the field. We're certainly better on paper than we were at the end of the season last year. Not on paper at the beginning of the season last year, but on paper right now relative to how we ended up last year."
Sat, 07 Jun 2014 07:06:04 -0700
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones admits it was tough to pass on QB Johnny Manziel in the NFL Draft. "Well, it was," Jones said. "Yes, it was. First of all, I couldn't believe he had fallen there. And secondly, we had spent a lot of time, I'd spent a lot of time. He's the kind of player that can be that kind of difference-maker. There's no doubt in my mind that he'll be a successful player. We have in Romo what I consider to be the better quarterback. But there's also the future, there's also insurance if you don't have him. If anybody could have adjusted to Manziel's style, we could have because we're a lot like that with Romo."

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said Monday, Feb. 24, that DE DeMarcus Ware is not guaranteed to return to the team for the 2014 season. Ware will have a salary cap charge of $16 million.
"There's no question when you are where we are on the cap, even though we've had some new cap space added, and you have a defensive player that's your highest paid defensive player, and he hasn't been on the field much the last two years, that has to be considered," Jones said. Then-Cowboys owner H.R. Bum Bright offered to fire Landry before Jones took over, but Jones insisted he would be the one and wanted to look Landry in the eyes.
"If I had a chance to do it over again I would've waited a year and just got my feet on the ground a little bit more and probably just gone with the staff that we had and then later made the ultimate change that I made," Jones said.

He was not what I wold call an older man. Having said that, it tore his world up so he immediately left to be with his family. We knew he wasn't going to play this week and that's besides the point.
