Raiders | Michael Crabtree also limited

Thu, 05 Jan 2017 15:46:56 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree (ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Jan. 5.

Fantasy Tip: As is the case with Cooper, don't expect gaudy numbers from Crabtree with Derek Carr sidelined. Connor Cook was OK in his first NFL action last week, but he's no Carr. Plus, the Houston Texans were one of the best pass defenses in the NFL in 2016, and the Raiders will be away from home. Crabtree is a risky start for those in playoff contests.

Mon, 12 Dec 2016 16:43:08 -0800

Fantasy Tip: It remains to be seen if Crabtree's finger will affect his catching ability. If San Diego Chargers CB Casey Hayward shadows Amari Cooper next week, then Crabtree could see plenty of targets. Despite the injury, he's a low-end WR2 to high-end WR3 option this week.

He finished the contest with four receptions and 21 yards, after being targeted seven times. Barring a setback, Crabtree is expected to be available for the team's next game against the San Diego Chargers Dec. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree is coming off a highly disappointing game and struggled with drops in the Monday night win over the Houston Texans in Mexico City. He'll have his work cut out for him as he'll likely draw impressive rookie James Bradberry in coverage, but he's a trusted option for Derek Carr and should be a serviceable WR3 as a result.

Fantasy Tip: Last season was supposed to be star rookie receiver Amari Cooper's for the taking. Crabtree really flew under the radar throughout the season, and actually outperformed Cooper from a fantasy perspective. The key again for Crabtree next season will be to stay healthy, which he has done the last two years. If he can do that, he could end up as WR2 again, with added value in PPR leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) has been quiet in recent weeks with the Raiders facing some strong defenses, but with Amari Cooper ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) playing through a foot injury, Crabtree could be the main beneficiary of Green Bay's banged-up secondary.
