Giants | Buster Posey survives injury scare

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 05:23:17 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey (foot) was hit on the outside of his left foot by a bunted foul ball in the fifth inning Sunday, June 26, against the Philadelphia Phillies. Posey was checked by head athletic trainer Dave Groeschner but remained in the game.

Fantasy Tip: Keep an eye on Posey in the next couple contests. This should not be a factor but sometimes it takes a bit for complications to arise. However, it's a pretty safe bet this isn't a serious problem.

Giants | Buster Posey not starting

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 16:14:33 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Zach Eflin Friday, June 24. C Trevor Brown will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Brown is hitting .308 with two doubles and one RBI over the last seven days. He is not a great fantasy option but should have value in two-catcher leagues.

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey (hamstring) grabbed his right hamstring while running up the first-base line on a double-play ball Monday, June 20, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Posey said he was fine after the game.

Fantasy Tip: Chances are Posey will be just fine, but you never know. Keep an eye on his health in the next game, and if he shows signs of more hamstring issues then you may want to be cautious. Otherwise, no worries.

Giants | Trevor Brown catching Saturday

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 10:15:33 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Trevor Brown is batting eighth and starting behind the plate versus Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore Saturday, June 18. C Buster Posey will bat cleanup and serve as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: The Giants are expected to use Brown behind the plate and Posey at DH again Sunday, as a way of keeping the latter's bat in the lineup. Brown is hitting just .213 this year but has four home runs and 10 RBI in 75 at-bats, making him a possible source of productive cap relief for daily fantasy lineups this afternoon.

Giants | Buster Posey expected to be used as DH

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 17:24:50 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is expected to serve as the designated hitter during the final two games of this weekend's series versus the Tampa Bay Rays.

Fantasy Tip: Thanks to an interleague series in an American League stadium, the Giants will be able to keep Posey's bat in the lineup without exposing him to the rigors of catching. He should be viewed as a must-start option in all fantasy formats. Trevor Brown will start behind the plate Saturday, June 18, and Sunday, June 19, and should be viewed as an inexpensive flier option in daily fantasy games.

Giants | Buster Posey keeps up recent tear

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 16:52:19 -0700

San Francisco Giants C/1B Buster Posey recorded his third straight multi-hit game Wednesday, June 15, against the Milwaukee Brewers. The former NL MVP went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI.

Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately for the Brewers, they ran into a red-hot Posey, as the 29-year-old went 8-for-12 in the three-game series. In the process, Posey brought his average up from .251 to .274, so hopefully this is an early indication of a big run ahead. He's still a must-start option every time he's in the lineup no matter what.

Giants | Buster Posey back in the lineup

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 16:05:59 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey (thumb) is starting behind the plate and batting fourth against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw Friday, June 10.

Fantasy Tip: Posey is in a class of his own atop the catcher rankings, but his thumb injury has potential to linger, and he faces Kershaw Friday. If you've got an alternative, it isn't out of the question to keep Posey benched Friday.

Giants | Buster Posey recieved cortisone shot

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 13:06:59 -0700

San Francisco Giants C/1B Buster Posey (thumb) received a cortisone shot in his right thumb during the series against the St. Louis Cardinals that ended Sunday, June 5.

Fantasy Tip: The news explains why Posey missed three games, but given the nature of the injury, it could linger and limit Posey's upside going forward. Still, even at less than full health, Posey is likely the best backstop option in fantasy. Stay tuned for further updates and monitor Posey's progress in the near future.
