Padres | Justin Upton sitting against Brewers

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 12:56:57 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Justin Upton (neck) is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Oct. 1. 1B Brett Wallace draws into the lineup and is batting fifth against Milwaukee Brewers SP Taylor Jungmann Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Upton ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) left the game because of a neck strain Wednesday, Sept. 30, and his status for the weekend is unknown at this point. It isn't out of the question to add a healthy replacement in seasonal leagues, especially if your in need of counting stats. Wallace ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) owns a 1.019 OPS against righties this season, so he is a viable low-priced target for FantasyScore players Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Wallace ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is batting .297 with two home runs and four RBIs this month and is hitting .319 at Petco Park this year. FantasyScore owners looking for a value option at first base should consider him for their lineups.

Padres | Justin Upton receiving a breather

Wed, 16 Sep 2015 15:27:03 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Justin Upton is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Sept. 16. OF Wil Myers moves back to the outfield, while 1B Brett Wallace draws the start at first base and is hitting cleanup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Robbie Ray.

Fantasy Tip: Wallace ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) surprisingly has been good against lefties this year mainly in a pinch-hitting role. You shouldn't test that any further with him on FantasyScore tonight, though. Avoid him.

Padres | Yonder Alonso remains sidelined

Thu, 03 Sep 2015 16:03:31 -0700

San Diego Padres 1B Yonder Alonso (back) remains out of the lineup Thursday, Sept. 3. 1B Brett Wallace is starting again at first base and is hitting sixth against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Mat Latos.

Fantasy Tip: Wallace ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has hit righties well in limited at-bats this year (.395-3-9 in 38 at-bats). Still, he's more of a low-end first base option at Petco Park tonight.

Padres | No Yonder Alonso vs. Texas

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 15:34:45 -0700

San Diego Padres 1B Yonder Alonso is not in the lineup against Texas Rangers left-handed SP Cole Hamels Wednesday, Sept. 2. 1B Brett Wallace is starting at first base and is batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Choosing Wallace ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) on FantasyScore is usually a sketchy proposition, let alone when he's facing a left-hander. Avoid him against Hamels this evening.

San Diego Padres 1B Brett Wallace gets the start Thursday, Aug. 6, in one of his favorite places to play, Miller Park in Milwaukee. He is a career .313/.377/.625 hitter there.

Fantasy Tip: Wallace ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) faces SP Matt Garza, who has allowed nine home runs and a .310 batting average against left-handed hitters. Wallace is an affordable, deep sleeper with a good history at Miller Park.

Fantasy Tip: Wallace ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is batting .346 with two home runs and a double in 26 at-bats against right-handed pitching. Wallace is a bargain basement price if you are looking for a way to manage a tight budget in daily today. Padres | Brett Wallace hits solo shot

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 05:17:35 -0700

San Diego Padres 1B Brett Wallace went 2-for-3 with a solo home run during San Diego's 3-1 win over the Miami Marlins Friday, July 24.

Fantasy Tip: Wallace ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) sits at 9-for-28 with two doubles and a home run for the season, and if he can maintain some consistency at the dish, there is an outside shot for semi-regular at-bats. The Padres' lineup could look extremely different next week, so NL-only owners could have a nice find. FantasyScore players should view Wallace as a low-end source of cap relief at his point.

Padres | Brett Wallace slots into five-hole

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 15:22:25 -0700

San Diego Padres 1B Brett Wallace is playing third base and batting fifth against Miami Marlins SP Dan Haren Friday, July 24.

Fantasy Tip: While he may be a tempting source of cap relief at FantasyScore, Wallace ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has just 27 plate appearances this season, and it is likely wise to aim higher. After all, you would be passing up a lot of offensive upside at the first base position. Wallace could be worth a desperation flier in NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues, but you'll want to keep your expectations in check.
