Kansas City Royals 1B Eric Hosmer extended his hitting streak to 18 games Friday, April 29, against the Seattle Mariner with an infield single in the second inning.

Fantasy Tip: It wasn't a pretty hit to extend his streak, but a hit is a hit. He remains a must-start fantasy option in all formats and a DFS steal as his career-high streak continues.

Royals | Eric Hosmer extends to 17

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 23:44:52 -0700

Kansas City Royals 1B Eric Hosmer extended his hitting streak to a career-best 17 games with a two-run homer Wednesday, April 27.

Fantasy Tip: Hosmer has a .333-3-8 line on the season, so the damage was good for his otherwise unspectacular production during the streak. Keep him in your lineups.

Kansas City Royals 1B Eric Hosmer extended his hitting streak to a career-high tying 16 games Tuesday, April 26, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Royals | Eric Hosmer open to extension

Mon, 29 Feb 2016 15:21:06 -0800

Kansas City Royals 1B Eric Hosmer said he is open to a contract extension with the team. Hosmer also said he's not worried about Kansas City's market size.

Fantasy Tip: He's only 26, so he could improve his power and reach the 20-homer mark entering his prime, but a steady ground-ball rate shouldn't have you extremely optimistic. He's money in leagues that count on-base percentage, but don't overpay for last year's numbers in traditional formats. All things considered, he's a strong starting option once the elite names have been selected at first base.

Royals | Eric Hosmer's hot streak continues

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 04:57:01 -0700

Kansas City Royals 1B Eric Hosmer had two RBIs Wednesday, Oct. 28, in a 7-1 win over the New York Mets in Game 2 of the World Series. Hosmer has 15 RBIs in 13 postseason games this year.

Fantasy Tip: Hosmer's error in Game 1 reminded many of the Bill Buckner play in the 1986 World Series, but he has largely redeemed himself with the bat. He will be a solid choice in all formats come spring drafting.

Mets | Matt Harvey has struggled against lefties

Tue, 27 Oct 2015 11:49:04 -0700

New York Mets SP Matt Harvey has particularly liked to throw his fastball to left-handed hitters on the outside of the plate. He had a .676 OPS against lefties this year compared to .544 against righties, and 15 of the 18 home runs he allowed in 2015 were to lefty hitters. The Kansas City Royals are notoriously good fastball hitters, and their lefty hitters like fastballs away. 2B Ben Zobrist (.206/.372/.324), 1B Eric Hosmer (.379/.463/.707), 1B Kendrys Morales (.400/.494/.662), 3B Mike Moustakas (.300/.385/.500) and OF Alex Gordon (.340/.407/.698) all had success against right-handed fastballs away.

Fantasy Tip: Harvey is one of the better young fastball pitchers, but against the best fastball-hitting team in baseball this year, he'll need to effectively mix in his slider and changeup to keep them off balance and be successful, especially against the lefties. Harvey's high innings total after coming off Tommy John surgery will be a narrative in the World Series, as well.
