Houston Astros 2B Jose Altuve is hitting fourth in the lineup for only the third time in his professional career Wednesday, April 2, because of the matchup against a right-handed pitcher. C Jason Castro is pegged to hit fourth against lefties. "Obviously, Altuve and Castro are arguably our two best hitters, and having Fowler and Grossman at the top, those two guys are switch hitters who can get on base," manager Bo Porter said. "When you hit Castro third and a right-hander is pitching, you're basically making sure the left-hander gets the extra at-bat given the matchup scenario."

Houston Astros C Jason Castro said Wednesday, March 19, that he wants to catch at least 100 games this season. He played a career-high 120 games last season, catching 98. "I was feel good all the way until the end of last year, when I kind of tweaked my knee stepping on a base," he said.
Fantasy Tip: Castro is a solid No. 2 catcher in mixed fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams, and a decent low-end No. 1 option in AL-only play. He has plenty of tools to be a good everyday player, and the fact he has can serve as the designated hitter in the American League gives him a chance at more at-bats with less chance for injury.
