White Sox | Brett Lawrie remains out

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 07:41:33 -0700

Chicago White Sox 2B Brett Lawrie (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup Sunday, July 24. INF Tyler Saladino is starting at second base and batting sixth against Detroit Tigers SP Matt Boyd Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Lawrie is missing his third consecutive game Sunday, but he's not expected to require a stint on the disabled list. Saladino is a potential low-priced flier in daily contests and a depth option in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues. Stay tuned for updates on Lawrie's status.

Chicago White Sox 2B Brett Lawrie (hamstring) missed his second straight game Saturday, July 23, against the Detroit Tigers due to a hamstring injury. However, he is not expected to land on the 15-day disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Avoid Lawrie in all fantasy leagues until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any lingering effects of his injury.

White Sox | Brett Lawrie set for MRI exam

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 14:56:49 -0700

Updating a previous report, Chicago White Sox 2B Brett Lawrie (hamstring) will undergo an MRI exam after arriving at the park still nursing a left hamstring injury Friday, July 22, according to manager Robin Ventura.

Fantasy Tip: Lawrie has respectable counting stats (35 runs, 12 home runs, 36 RBI and seven stolen bases), but his .248/.310/.413 slash line leaves a little to be desired. It sounds like Lawrie is set to miss some time, so scouting replacements isn't encouraged. Stay tuned for updates.

White Sox | Brett Lawrie sitting vs. Tigers

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 13:12:52 -0700

Chicago White Sox 2B Brett Lawrie (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 22. INF Tyler Saladino is starting at second base and batting eighth against Detroit Tigers SP Michael Fulmer Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Lawrie injured his hamstring Thursday, July 21, and he's currently considered day-to-day. He sits with a decent stat line of 35 runs, 12 home runs, 36 RBI and seven stolen bases. However, sitting with a .248/.310/.413 slash line leaves owners wishing for more. Saladino isn't much of a fantasy priority facing Fulmer Friday.

White Sox | Brett Lawrie injures hamstring

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 23:50:30 -0700

Chicago White Sox 2B Brett Lawrie (hamstring) is day-to-day following tightness in his left hamstring that forced him to leave the game Thursday, July 21, against the Detroit Tigers.

Fantasy Tip: Keep an eye on Lawrie and whether that injury will force him to miss any time. Tyler Saladino would likely benefit from a Lawrie injury or trip to the disabled list.

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 16:18:07 -0700

Chicago White Sox 2B Brett Lawrie is hitting .426 with seven RBI in his last 12 games.

Fantasy Tip: With full health this year so far and in a great hitting environment, Lawrie is on pace to set career highs in multiple categories. He currently has 11 home runs, 34 RBI and a .256 average and is a middle-tier fantasy second baseman in all formats.

White Sox | Brett Lawrie continues recent tear

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 14:47:14 -0700

Chicago White Sox 2B Brett Lawrie went 3-for-4 with two home runs - including one inside-the-park - and three RBI in a losing cause against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday, June 25. After hitting .160 (12-for-75) through the first 19 games of June, Lawrie is 8-for-12 over his last three contests.

Fantasy Tip: Both homers came with the bases empty. Lawrie ranks among the top 10 in the majors with 88 strikeouts, which is a big part of the reason he can run so hot-and-cold. His power potential makes him an intriguing option in a middle infield spot in fantasy, but his mediocre contributions in runs (30) and steals (four) - along with his .245 average - make him a bit of a fringe starting option otherwise.

White Sox | Avisail Garcia, Alex Avila starting

Sun, 05 Jun 2016 08:46:31 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Avisail Garcia and C Alex Avila are back in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander Sunday, June 5. In addition, OF Jason Coats (face) is back in left field and hitting second, while INF Leury Garcia is batting fifth and playing second base. 2B Brett Lawrie and OF J.B. Shuck are receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Avisail Garcia is batting .265 with three home runs and 14 RBI in 98 at-bats on the road this season and should be viewed as a viable outfield option in most fantasy formats. Leury Garcia and Avila should only be viewed as sources of desperation cap relief in DFS contests.
