Oakland Athletics 1B Ike Davis hit his first home run of spring training Wednesday, March 25, and he is currently batting .543 (13-for-24).
Fantasy Tip: Davis ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) hit 58 home runs through the first 1171 at-bats of his career, but the 28-year-old has fallen out of favor with two organizations in two years since. Oakland has a knack for getting the most of their players, and Davis has upside. His spring should have him on your radar as a late-round flier in deep leagues, and he is a must-own player in AL-only formats. His FantasyScore price leaves a lot of room for profit if his recent surge continues into the season.

Oakland Athletics 1B Ike Davis (back) said he's hoping to serve as the designated hitter in the spring game Wednesday, March 18.
Fantasy Tip: Davis is nothing more than a late-round gamble in deeper mixed leagues for some power. The move to Oakland and O.co Coliseum isn't ideal, and neither is the fact that there's a good chance he'll be in a platoon spot at first base. Davis becomes more attractive in AL-only leagues.

Oakland Athletics 1B Ike Davis (back) is dealing with a back issue that will keep him out of spring action until at least Sunday, March 15.
Fantasy Tip: Davis doesn't fall in our top-200 fantasy rankings for 2015, but he could be in a platoon at first base for the A's this year with Billy Butler or Mark Canha. Davis is unlikely to return to the 30-homer mark, especially in Oakland and with part-time at-bats, but he could be an under-the-radar source for power very late in deep mixed league drafts.

Oakland Athletics DH Billy Butler will serve as the designated hitter this year against right-handed pitchers, and he'll also play some first base against lefties. 1B Ike Davis will be the primary first baseman against righties, but 1B Mark Canha could also see some time at the position.
Fantasy Tip: Butler's move to O.co Coliseum likely won't be good for his power numbers after he clubbed only nine homers last year in KC in 151 games. Butler also saw a career low average of .271. He's not very intriguing for mixed league owners at a position that is ripe with power. Davis' platoon problems likely make him strictly an AL-only commodity.

Oakland Athletics 1B Ike Davis (illness) said he's feeling stronger this year than he has the last few years that he dealt with Valley Fever. "Valley fever is a nightmare," Davis said. "You have no energy, no nothing. It was definitely a weird one. It's supposed to go away on its own, but when I had an X-ray last year, it showed I still had it. I'm hoping that's over and done with." There's no guarantee that Davis will get 500-600 at-bats this year, though. Right now, Davis is slated to start against left-handed pitchers, with DH Billy Butler playing first against righties.
