The San Diego Padres have had five games in the regular season, and SP Andrew Cashner is the only starter in the rotation to get an out in the sixth inning.
Fantasy Tip: So far, it has been Cashner every five days and pray for rain. Pitching is not expected to be a problem for this team, however, and guys like Ian Kennedy, Tyson Ross and the injured Josh Johnson will be valuable fantasy options sooner rather than later.

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw (back) is expected to be out at least for a month, but San Diego Padres SP Andrew Cashner (back) had a similar injury, and did not return to full strength for seven months. Cashner spent two months on the 15-day disabled list, and said his injury also involved a strained latissimus muscle. "There's nothing you can do," Cashner said. "There's no rehab. It's just rest. It's a very frustrating injury."
Fantasy Tip: Kershaw and his fantasy owners hope that Cashner's assessment that his injury is more serious is right, and that he regains his Cy Young Award form sooner rather than later. However, Kershaw's terrible spring stats and injury is worrisome.

San Diego Padres SP Andrew Cashner became the first pitcher in franchise history to face the minimum 27 hitters in a nine-inning complete game during his one-hit shutout Monday, Sept. 16, against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Fantasy Tip: Cashner was cash money in what could very well be one of his final starts, as the team wants to play it safe with his workload. He is really building fantasy value heading into 2014.
