Indians | Lonnie Chisenhall drives in two

Wed, 25 May 2016 20:23:46 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Lonnie Chisenhall went 2-for-4 with two RBI against the Chicago White Sox Wednesday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Chisenhall has recorded four hits in his last three games after going hitless in his previous five games. Owners in most leagues probably can avoid Chisenhall since he is hitting .256 with zero home runs so far this season.

Indians | Three Indians regulars sitting

Thu, 19 May 2016 14:43:42 -0700

Cleveland Indians 1B Mike Napoli (rest), OF Marlon Byrd (rest) and C Yan Gomes (rest) are all out of the lineup Thursday, May 19. 1B Carlos Santana is batting cleanup in place of Napoli, OF Lonnie Chisenhall is in right field batting sixth replacing Byrd, and C Chris Gimenez is behind the plate with Gomes out and batting eighth versus Cincinnati Reds SP Tim Adleman.

Fantasy Tip: Napoli is only out of the lineup because it's under National League rules, so Santana will take over first base duties this evening after sitting in last night's contest. His value goes up a notch due to his power potential. Meanwhile, Chisenhall and Gimenez are both inconsistent at the plate and probably not worth deploying in daily leagues.

Indians | Lonnie Chisenhall back in lineup

Tue, 17 May 2016 11:15:44 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Lonnie Chisenhall is back in the starting lineup and is hitting seventh against Cincinnati Reds SP Alfredo Simon Tuesday, May 17. OF Marlon Byrd moves to left field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Chisenhall contributes very average stats across the board and is a lukewarm fantasy option everywhere. He figures to play right field against right-handers. Byrd figures to move around between the corner outfield spots with Michael Brantley back on the DL, but he, too, is more of a low-end sleeper play in daily formats.

Indians | Lonnie Chisenhall back, Cody Anderson down

Tue, 17 May 2016 10:40:00 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Lonnie Chisenhall was activated from the bereavement list Tuesday, May 17, and SP Cody Anderson was optioned to Class AAA Columbus in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Chisenhall has a mediocre .255/.296/.333 slash line with no home runs and three RBI this year, and he won't contribute considerably in any one category. Save him for cavernous mixed and AL leagues for depth. Anderson (7.99 ERA, 1.77 WHIP) was miserably bad in his six starts and can be dropped anywhere he was owned. The return of Chisenhall could hurt Marlon Byrd the most, with the two probably entering into a platoon in right field.

Indians | Lonnie Chisenhall returning Tuesday

Mon, 16 May 2016 15:24:43 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Lonnie Chisenhall is expected to be activated from the bereavement list prior to the game against the Cincinnati Reds Tuesday, May 17.

Fantasy Tip: Through his past 416 plate appearances dating back to the beginning of last season, Chisenhall has an underwhelming .247/.295/.367 slash line. He is nothing more than a mediocre option in cavernous mixed and AL-only formats.

Indians | Lonnie Chisenhall to bereavement list

Fri, 13 May 2016 11:36:51 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Lonnie Chisenhall was placed on the bereavement list Friday, May 13, and OF Tyler Naquin was recalled from Class AAA Columbus.

Fantasy Tip: Marlon Byrd will benefit the most from Chisenhall's vacancy in right field. He hasn't done much this year with a .239-2-9 line. He's a low-end outfielder worth considering in good matchups. Naquin could snag some time from Rajai Davis in center, and he hit .315 in his previous stint. He doesn't do much elsewhere, but he's a basement flyer worth consideration.

Indians | Michael Brantley returns to lineup Sunday

Sun, 08 May 2016 07:09:16 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Michael Brantley is back in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Edinson Volquez Sunday, May 8, batting cleanup and playing left field. OF Lonnie Chisenhall is batting seventh and playing center field, with OF Rajai Davis receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Brantley is batting .258 with six RBI in nine games since coming off the disabled list and is hitting .429 at home this season. Chisenhall is making his first career MLB appearance in center field but gained experience playing the position during a rehab assignment earlier this year. He is batting .316 over the past two weeks and is worth considering as an inexpensive flier in daily fantasy games this afternoon.

Indians | Michael Brantley likely to be backup CF

Sat, 07 May 2016 10:10:16 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Michael Brantley, who serves as the team's everyday left fielder, is expected to serve as the backup in center field to OF Rajai Davis, as a result of OF Tyler Naquin being demoted to Class AAA Columbus. OF Lonnie Chisenhall and INF/OF Jose Ramirez have also seen reps at the position, with Chisenhall gaining experience there during his recent rehab assignment and Ramirez playing center field in spring training.

Fantasy Tip: Brantley has played 356 career games in center field, while Chisenhall and Ramirez have yet to play the position during an MLB regular-season game, so it's unlikely that the latter two players will see time there except in an emergency. Marlon Byrd has played 849 career games in center but is being used strictly as a corner outfielder and designated hitter by Cleveland.

Indians | Carlos Santana leading off again

Wed, 04 May 2016 11:14:51 -0700

Cleveland Indians 1B Carlos Santana is leading off for the second straight day Wednesday, May 4. OF Marlon Byrd is sitting out with OF Lonnie Chisenhall hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Santana isn't your typical leadoff hitter, and it trumps a lot of his fantasy value. He has a .238-4-12 line on the season, and he's really not a great DFS start in this spot. Chisenhall is hitting .200 in 25 at-bats and doesn't possess a ton of upside against Anibal Sanchez.

Indians | Rajai Davis, Lonnie Chisenhall sitting

Tue, 03 May 2016 11:26:49 -0700

Cleveland Indians OFs Rajai Davis and Lonnie Chisenhall are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 3. OF Marlon Byrd is in right field and hitting seventh, while OF Tyler Naquin is starting in center field and batting ninth against Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander.

Fantasy Tip: Neither Byrd nor Naquin are outstanding picks for daily rosters, but Byrd does have six hits in 13 at-bats against Verlander with a home run. Naquin has handled his own in 48 at-bats (.333 average). Both should be considered midrange outfield options as sleepers.
