Marlins | Dee Gordon hitless in return

Thu, 28 Jul 2016 19:10:44 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Dee Gordon went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in his return from an 80-game suspension Thursday, July 28.

Fantasy Tip: Some rust is to be expected, but the 2015 NL batting champ has too much upside to leave on your bench.

Marlins | Dee Gordon returns from 80-game ban

Thu, 28 Jul 2016 11:47:37 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Dee Gordon has been reinstated from his 80-game suspension and is leading off against St. Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha Thursday, July 28.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon paced the National League in hits, batting average and stolen bases last season, so fantasy owners should view him as an elite option at the keystone going forward. He should be owned and started in all fantasy formats. Just note, he might not be the best daily option Thursday, though.

Marlins | Dee Gordon hitting in rehab

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 23:10:55 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Dee Gordon is 8-for-24 (.364) in his last five games at Class AAA New Orleans. He's eligible to return Thursday, July 28.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon should return to your lineups as soon as he's reinstated. In a season where 36 steals leads the majors, Gordon could have a huge impact in the fantasy stretch run.

Marlins | Dee Gordon 2-for-13 with New Orleans

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 06:53:34 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Dee Gordon has gone 2-for-13 through his first four games of his rehab assignment with Class AAA New Orleans, and manager Don Mattingly has been encouraged with Gordon's progress.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon is eligible to return from his 80-game suspension Thursday, July 28, and he should be owned in all fantasy leagues at this point. He could easily provide a top-tier return at the keystone over the final stretch of the season, especially in the stolen base department.

Marlins | No new deal yet for Martin Prado

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 23:25:20 -0700

Miami Marlins 3B Martin Prado has not been contacted regarding a new contract yet, but they could delay that decision until the offseason. Miami Herald sportswriter Barry Jackson speculates if the Marlins re-sign Prado, then 2B Derek Dietrich or 2B Dee Gordon could be dealt for pitching.

Fantasy Tip: Prado is one of Miami's better hitters, so it is likely the team would make an effort to keep him. For now, don't worry about Prado's status and keep him in your fantasy lineups.

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 19:26:45 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Dee Gordon (leg) left a rehab game for Class AAA New Orleans due to cramping, although he is doing fine now, according to manager Don Mattingly.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon's 80-game suspension for a positive drug test is winding down and he is eligible to rejoin the parent club July 28. He should remain stashed in all fantasy formats.

Marlins | Dee Gordon to begin rehab stint

Fri, 15 Jul 2016 07:01:54 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Dee Gordon will begin a 10-day rehab assignment at Class AAA New Orleans Monday, July 18. He's eligible to return from suspension July 28.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon should be able to get around 40 at-bats before returning and could hit the ground running. Keep him stashed in all formats because that running keeps him in the upper echelon of his position in fantasy.

Marlins | Derek Dietrich to keep playing regularly

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 17:03:37 -0700

Miami Marlins INF/OF Derek Dietrich is expected to continue seeing regular playing time even after 2B Dee Gordon returns from his suspension at the end of next month, according to president of baseball operations Michael Hill. "We always felt (confident in Dietrich) because of his offensive potential, his knowledge of the strike zone, his ability to get on base," Hill said. "Those are all things that make him an everyday player and now he's just been given the opportunity to do it. We've been creative in finding at bats for him in the past."

Fantasy Tip: Dietrich is batting .361 (13-for-36) over the past two weeks and is hitting .306 overall this season through 68 games. His positional versatility makes him a useful player to own in NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues and he's also worth using in daily fantasy contests as a productive source of cap relief.

Marlins | Dee Gordon a month away

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 14:52:01 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Dee Gordon is eligible to return from his 80-game suspension July 28.

Fantasy Tip: Keep him stashed in all formats. With stolen bases so hard to come by, he could provide a nice boost in the second half.

Marlins | Dee Gordon suspended 80 games

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 23:07:35 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Dee Gordon has been suspended for 80 games by Major League Baseball for a positive PED test. Exogenous testosterone was found in Gordon's test.

Fantasy Tip: This is a major blow to the Marlins and his fantasy owners, as Gordon is one of the game's bigger stolen base threats. While Gordon is on the shelf, you’ll have to hang on to him on the bench in most leagues. For the Marlins, Martin Prado could move to second base. Even if he stays at third, look for Derek Dietrich or Miguel Rojas to earn more at-bats. Dietrich has more upside. His power potential and possible eligibility at first, second and third base and outfield make him a strong roster consideration in deep mixed leagues.
