Marlins | Dee Gordon suspended 80 games

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 23:07:35 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Dee Gordon has been suspended for 80 games by Major League Baseball for a positive PED test. Exogenous testosterone was found in Gordon's test.

Fantasy Tip: This is a major blow to the Marlins and his fantasy owners, as Gordon is one of the game's bigger stolen base threats. While Gordon is on the shelf, you’ll have to hang on to him on the bench in most leagues. For the Marlins, Martin Prado could move to second base. Even if he stays at third, look for Derek Dietrich or Miguel Rojas to earn more at-bats. Dietrich has more upside. His power potential and possible eligibility at first, second and third base and outfield make him a strong roster consideration in deep mixed leagues.

Marlins | Dee Gordon sitting out

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 07:25:26 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Dee Gordon is out of the lineup Thursday, April 21, with OF Ichiro Suzuki leading off.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki is hitting .333 on the season, but he's not a great DFS player as a singles hitter to begin with. Add in the fact he's facing Max Scherzer today, and he's worth passing on.

Marlins | Dee Gordon loves seeing orange

Mon, 11 Apr 2016 23:03:34 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Dee Gordon had a pair of hits with a run scored, RBI and his first stolen base of the season Monday, April 11, against the New York Mets. He is hitting .450 (36-for-80) with an 18-game hitting streak against the Mets, his longest against any opponent.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon led the majors with 58 steals last season, but he has just one so far. Don't worry, as he can pick them up in bunches. He remains a stud fantasy option in all formats.

Marlins | Dee Gordon terms

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 07:54:15 -0800

Fantasy Tip: Gordon had a dynamite season with a .333 average and 58 steals. He comes with a little buyer beware not to overdraft him this season expecting a repeat, but he's a top 2B option.

Marlins | Dee Gordon seeking seven years

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 10:13:11 -0800

Miami Marlins 2B Dee Gordon and the Marlins continue to discuss a long-term contract extension that would take him well into his free-agent years. The Marlins have offered a five-year deal, according to sources, but Gordon is looking for a seven-year extension. Talks have been moving slowly.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon displayed All-Star abilities in 2015 in his first season with Miami, hitting .333 with 58 stolen bases in 145 games. He'll cost you top dollar in fantasy drafts in 2016, and with good reason. It'll be hard for him to match his average next year, but his elite speed is what sets him apart and makes him an early rounds commodity.

Marlins | Dee Gordon having extension talks

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 16:31:58 -0800

Miami Marlins 2B Dee Gordon had talks with the team about a contract extension Monday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon had an incredible year in his first season with Miami, hitting .333 with 58 stolen bases. While Gordon's average is in line to come down next season, he'll continue to be one of the best sources of stolen bases despite basically zero power. Because of the speed, he'll command a high fantasy price in the early rounds.

Marlins | MIA to explore extending Dee Gordon

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 14:49:00 -0800

The Miami Marlins are open to an extension offer for 2B Dee Gordon, who is not due to hit free agency until 2019.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon has said he is receptive to an offer, which is a good starting place. He can help you in batting and speed categories, so expect Gordon to be one of the first 2B removed from draft boards.

Marlins | Dee Gordon wins NL batting title

Mon, 05 Oct 2015 09:05:27 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Dee Gordon collected three hits Sunday, Oct. 4, to edge Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper for the National League batting title this year. Gordon went 3-for-4 to raise his average to .333, while Harper fell to .330 after going 1-for-4. Gordon is the first player to lead the NL in both batting average and stolen bases (58) in the same season since Jackie Robinson in 1949.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon exceeded expectations in his first year with the Marlins and will be an expensive fantasy commodity in 2016 because of it. Be ready to overpay for his services.
