Tigers | Three Detroit regulars out

Thu, 05 May 2016 11:25:35 -0700

Detroit Tigers C James McCann, SS Jose Iglesias and OF Anthony Gose are not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 5. C Jarrod Saltalamacchia is doing the catching and hitting seventh, 3B Mike Aviles is at the 6 and is batting eighth, and SS Andrew Romine is in center field and is hitting ninth against Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer.

Fantasy Tip: Salty got hot with regular playing time when McCann was on the DL, but has only four hits in his last 29 at-bats (.138). He's a low-end catching option if you're looking to save salary cap space. Aviles and Romine are desperation daily picks and should be avoided.

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 13:56:57 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Anthony Gose is not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics SP Kendall Graveman Monday, April 25. OF Tyler Collins will start in center field and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Collins has only two hits in 16 at-bats this season and should be avoided in all fantasy leagues.

Tigers | Anthony Gose, Saltalamacchia sitting

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 14:13:40 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Anthony Gose and C Jarrod Saltalamacchia are not in the starting lineup Friday, April 22. OF Tyler Collins is starting in center field and batting seventh, while C Bobby Wilson is behind the dish and is hitting eighth against Cleveland Indians SP Josh Tomlin.

Fantasy Tip: Collins and Wilson are at the bottom of the barrel in terms of daily options to consider Friday night. That's two straight games Gose has been on the bench against right-handers, so his playing time could be in jeopardy moving forward. After all, Gose is off to a .200 (8-for-40) start with no stolen bases in one attempt.

Tigers | No Anthony Gose Thursday

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 12:31:29 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Anthony Gose is not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 21. OF Tyler Collins draws the start in center field and is batting eighth against Kansas City Royals SP Edinson Volquez.

Fantasy Tip: Collins has only five career home runs in 241 plate appearances and doesn't move the fantasy needle at all, really, in any format. There are better low-priced daily options to choose from.

Tigers | Three Tigers take a seat

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 07:10:01 -0700

Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias, OF Anthony Gose and C Jarrod Saltalamacchia are out of the lineup Thursday, April 14. OF Tyler Collins is hitting sixth, C Bobby Wilson is hitting seventh and SS Andrew Romine is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: The trio is a combined 1-for-5 (.200) this season, and none of them provide enough upside for a DFS start. Furthermore, Jordan Zimmermann is hitting ninth in the National League park, which means the bottom of Detroit's order is even more questionable. That could affect Ian Kinsler in the leadoff spot. Kinsler is on a .355-3-8 tear and remains a daily consideration, but his RBI upside is minimal today.

Tigers | Anthony Gose out Monday

Mon, 11 Apr 2016 07:24:42 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Anthony Gose is out of the lineup Monday, April 11, with OF Tyler Collins hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Collins doesn't present a lot of upside against lefty Jonathon Niese.

Tigers | Anthony Gose the primary CF

Thu, 03 Mar 2016 14:22:53 -0800

Detroit Tigers OF Anthony Gose becomes Detroit's primary center fielder with OF Cameron Maybin (wrist) out four to six weeks with a non-displaced fracture of his left wrist. The Tigers would like Gose to share center field, but they don't have a lot of depth behind him at the position. OF Tyler Collins can play some center, but he also hits left-handed, like Gose. It's unlikely the Tigers would sign free-agent OF Austin Jackson (Cubs), because of his price tag.

Fantasy Tip: Gose hits a lot of ground balls, and speed is by far his best asset. However, he doesn't make much contact, so he won't help you in average, and he's bad against lefties, making him strictly a source of some steals in deep mixed leagues. Maybin's injury doesn't do a whole lot to help his value.

Tigers | Anthony Gose not playing in nightcap

Mon, 21 Sep 2015 13:41:44 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Anthony Gose is not in the lineup for Game 2 of the doubleheader against Chicago White Sox SP Erik Johnson Monday, Sept. 21. OF Rajai Davis draws the start in center field and is hitting leadoff.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is mainly valuable for his speed on FantasyScore, but he's hitting .256 (45-for-176) with 10 stolen bases and three home runs against right-handers this year, so there's not a ton of daily upside.

Tigers | Rajai Davis climbs up the lineup

Thu, 10 Sep 2015 14:50:54 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Rajai Davis is batting first and OF Anthony Gose is batting ninth against Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar Thursday, Sept. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) receives a nice fantasy boost setting the table for the Tigers. He is traditionally a better hitter against southpaws, though, and Salazar ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) is far from a cushy matchup. View both Gose ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) and Davis as fliers for FantasyScore contests Thursday, with Davis owning a higher ceiling.

Tigers | Anthony Gose sitting out

Sun, 06 Sep 2015 08:12:49 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Anthony Gose is not in the starting lineup against Cleveland Indians SP Cody Anderson Sunday, Sept. 6. OF Rajai Davis will start in center field and is batting first in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Gose ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) likely will return to the lineup in the near future. Davis ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has three hits in his last five games but is hitting only .240 this season and is not a great option on FantasyScore.
