White Sox | David Robertson hit hard

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 19:21:42 -0700

Chicago White Sox RP David Robertson blew a save but picked up the win against the Detroit Tigers Sunday, July 24, allowing three solo home runs in the top of the ninth inning.

Fantasy Tip: Robertson has endured a few awful outings recently, but he has been good enough as the closer to retain the job for the foreseeable future.

White Sox | David Robertson to resume Sunday

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 23:51:06 -0700

Chicago White Sox RP David Robertson came on to get the final out before the tarpaulin came out Saturday, July 23, against the Detroit Tigers. The game was suspended in the ninth inning with the score tied 3-3, and manager Robin Ventura said Robertson will be on the mound when the game resumes Sunday, July 24.

Fantasy Tip: The appearance will only count as one game, and he is working in a non-save situation. He remains a must-start fantasy option across all formats.

White Sox | David Robertson blows save

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 00:45:31 -0700

Chicago White Sox RP David Robertson took the loss Monday, July 18, in a 4-3 defeat to the Seattle Mariners. Robertson had converted 13 straight saves prior to this loss.

Fantasy Tip: This falls under the category of every closer having an off-game now and then. Unless he repeats this feat a couple more times in the next week, this is nothing to worry about.

White Sox | David Robertson will not pitch Sunday

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 15:12:50 -0700

Chicago White Sox RP David Robertson (leg) has been ruled out Sunday, July 10, against the Atlanta Braves to a left leg strain. Robertson told reporters Saturday, July 9, he had been dealing with the injury for a couple of days.

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't sound too serious, although a stint on the disabled list hasn't been ruled out. Nate Jones came on to get a four-out save on Saturday and will be the best bet for saves for as long as Robertson is out.

White Sox | David Robertson earns save

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 00:32:25 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP David Robertson netted his 13th save in 15 chances Tuesday, May 31, in a 6-4 win over the New York Mets. Chicago's bullpen was battered for 18 earned runs, 25 hits and 12 walks in the previous eight games.

Fantasy Tip: Every bullpen takes a hit once in a while, but Chicago was getting battered at every turn. Robertson turned his fortunes around against a solid Mets squad. The job is still Robertson's to lose, so keep him active in all formats.

White Sox | David Robertson earns save

Mon, 23 May 2016 20:07:13 -0700

Chicago White Sox RP David Robertson pitched a scoreless ninth inning in the first game of a doubleheader against the Cleveland Indians Monday, May 23, to pick up his 12th save of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Robertson has pitched very well this season and has allowed only two earned runs in 17 appearances. Robertson is one of the better closers in the league and should be starting in all leagues.

White Sox | David Robertson expected back Sunday

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 14:52:12 -0700

Updating a previous report, Chicago White Sox RP David Robertson is expected to return to the team Sunday, May 1. RP Nate Jones will be the primary closer with Robertson unavailable, but RPs Matt Albers and Zach Duke are possibilities, too, according to manager Robin Ventura.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is worth a flier if you're desperate for saves, but otherwise, Jones, Albers and Duke are fantasy afterthoughts in the majority of leagues. It is nice to know that Jones is next in line, though, so saves vultures could potentially hang onto him. Robertson's job is one of the most secure in the majors, though.

White Sox | David Robertson out at least three days

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 11:09:38 -0700

Chicago White Sox RP David Robertson will be out for at least three days while on the bereavement list. 2B Carlos Sanchez will be recalled from the minors in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Nate Jones, who has a 0.84 ERA and nine K's in 10 2/3 innings this year, should take over the closing duties with Robertson out. Jones' short-term value sees a huge boost in the ninth-inning role, and those in daily transaction leagues in need of saves should add him immediately.

White Sox | David Robertson makes it 2-for-2

Tue, 05 Apr 2016 23:35:19 -0700

Chicago White Sox RP David Robertson converted on his second save opportunity of the year Tuesday, April 5, versus the Oakland Athletics, registering a perfect ninth inning with one strikeout.

Fantasy Tip: Robertson is out to a quick start in 2016. It shouldn't be a surprise either, as the former Yankee has always had dominant stuff, and these first two games could be an indication that he's on track towards becoming one of the best closers in baseball this season. Continue to lock him in lineups with confidence every time he gets the ball in the ninth.
