Free-agent P Steven Shell (Braves) was suspended 50 games after testing positive for metabolites of Stanozolol. His suspension will begin once he signs with an organization. Free-agent P Michael Hart (Athletics) was given a 50-game suspension after a second violation for a drug of abuse.

The Oakland Tribune reports the Oakland Athletics signed P Michael Hart, the team's 19th-round draft selection in 2008, to a contract. No terms were disclosed.
