Rockies | Charlie Blackmon on a tear

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 02:02:12 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon continued his recent offensive surge against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday, June 28, going 3-for-5 with three RBI.

Fantasy Tip: Blackmon has seven multi-hit efforts over his last nine contests and 17-for-41 with five home runs, 12 RBI and 12 runs scored over that same stretch. While playing half of his games at Coors Field helps, the 29-year-old's home-road splits aren't dramatically different like some other Rockies' hitters. While he only has six steals this year after a career-high 43 last year, Blackmon is still checking four of the five boxes in fantasy and makes for a solid second or third fantasy outfielder.

Rockies | Charlie Blackmon smacks two homers

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 22:08:10 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon hit a pair of solo home runs against the New York Yankees on Tuesday, June 21. He finished 2-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI.

Fantasy Tip: After a brief slump (0-for-12 during the previous three-game stretch), Blackmon has gone 5-for-10 with three home runs in his last two. While his lack of activity on the base paths has been disappointing this season, Blackmon does enough with the bat to be a viable starting outfielder in all leagues.

Rockies | Sluggers firing blanks against Miami

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 13:49:50 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon is 0-for-12 in the Miami Marlins series. Also, 2B DJ LeMahieu is 1-for-11, 1B Mark Reynolds is 0-for-8 and SS Trevor Story is 1-for-9.

Fantasy Tip: The Miami Marlins pitchers have been strong against the Rockies, which makes it more likely you should bench these sluggers in future matchups. These are likely slumps that will be reversed once Colorado moves on to the next opponent.

Rockies | Charlie Blackmon's on-base streak ends

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 23:52:00 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon struck out in his only at-bat against Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday, June 7. He had successfully reached base in each of the previous 32 games.

Fantasy Tip: Blackmon, who entered the game in the bottom of the seventh, put together a .331-6-23 line with 19 runs scored during his 32-game streak. The day off was not injury related, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he started another streak tomorrow. Blackmon is a solid option in all leagues.

Rockies | Charlie Blackmon, Nick Hundley out

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 15:57:54 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon and C Nick Hundley are not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Julio Urias Tuesday, June 7. OF Gerardo Parra will start in center field, while OF Ryan Raburn will start in left field and is batting second. C Dustin Garneau will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Both Raburn and Garneau have struggled at the plate over the last seven days, but Raburn has had success against left-handed pitchers and is a decent option in daily fantasy leagues. Owners can avoid Garneau in all leagues.

Rockies | Charlie Blackmon continues heating up

Mon, 23 May 2016 14:18:48 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two doubles Monday, May 23, against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Fantasy Tip: Blackmon got out to a woeful start this year, but he's picked it up considerably since then to lift his batting average up over .300. He's been especially efficient as of late, hitting .364 over his last five ballgames. As long as he remains the leadoff man in Colorado's dangerous batting order, he's someone that should always be on starting rosters in fantasy.

Rockies | Charlie Blackmon has best game in '16

Wed, 11 May 2016 17:24:23 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon enjoyed his best performance of the season thus far Wednesday, May 11, opposite the Arizona Diamondbacks. He finished the contest 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI, also adding his second home run of the campaign.

Fantasy Tip: Blackmon struggled mightily out of the gate, and it certainly did him no favors when he missed a couple of weeks in April with an injury. However, the 29-year-old appears to be over all of that, as he now has a nine-game hitting streak. As long as he continues to bat leadoff in Colorado, he's a must-start option in all fantasy leagues.

Rockies | Charlie Blackmon returns to lineup

Sat, 07 May 2016 12:32:08 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon is back in the starting lineup against San Francisco Giants SP Johnny Cueto Saturday, May 7, leading off and playing center field. In addition, C Tony Wolters is starting behind the plate and batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Blackmon is 3-for-12 with one RBI in his career versus Cueto and is batting .310 in 29 at-bats over the last two weeks, so he merits consideration for daily lineups. Wolters is 7-for-44 this season and is not a great fantasy option.

Rockies | Charlie Blackmon takes a seat

Fri, 06 May 2016 16:02:33 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon is not in the starting lineup against San Francisco Giants left-handed SP Madison Bumgarner Friday, May 6. OF Ryan Raburn is starting in left field and hitting sixth, with OF Gerardo Parra shifting over to center field. Also, 2B DJ LeMahieu moves up to the leadoff spot.

Fantasy Tip: Raburn is a notorious lefty killer, but MadBum isn't your typical southpaw on the hill tonight. It could prove difficult for Raburn to turn a profit in daily affairs. Parra becomes one to avoid in the tough lefty-lefty matchup. LeMahieu gains value with the move all the way up the order, but he should be seen as a contrarian play because of the matchup.
