Rockies | Gerardo Parra set for starting job

Thu, 28 Jan 2016 14:23:12 -0800

Colorado Rockies OF Gerardo Parra will be left with a starting spot to win in the outfield after the Rockies traded OF Corey Dickerson to the Tampa Bay Rays Thursday, Jan. 28. Parra can play left with OF Charlie Blackmon in center field and OF Carlos Gonzalez in right. OF Brandon Barnes will be the fourth outfielder and fill in everywhere.

Fantasy Tip: Parra had career highs in batting average (.291), home runs (14) and runs (83) last year with the Milwaukee Brewers and Baltimore Orioles. Coors Field was the best possible landing spot for him, and now he's in a starting role. He could improve on his solid 2015 season with the Rockies, and he should be a target in the later rounds of all mixed leagues.

Rays | Tampa eyeing Corey Dickerson

Tue, 26 Jan 2016 11:45:13 -0800

Colorado Rockies OF Corey Dickerson may be the most likely trade option for the Rockies, as he'd require less of a return than OF Charlie Blackmon, according to sources. The Tampa Bay Rays are involved with Dickerson.

Fantasy Tip: Dickerson was a disappointment because of his injury last year. However, when healthy he has plenty of power, but a move away from Coors Field would limit his upside considerably.

Rockies | Charlie Blackmon avoids arbitration

Mon, 25 Jan 2016 12:58:04 -0800

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon re-signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract to avoid arbitration Monday, Jan. 25.

Fantasy Tip: With the fantasy boost Coors Field provides next to Blackmon's own hitting ability, he is a serious fantasy force to target after the top talents come off the board on draft day. He is a rare five-category contributor, and even if his power numbers drop a touch, his speed will pay the fantasy bills, and there is upside for a 20-40 season.

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon has filed for salary arbitration. He is seeking a one-year deal worth $3.9 million while the team has countered with a $2.7 million offer.

Fantasy Tip: Blackmon hit .287 with 17 home runs, 58 RBIs and 43 steals in 157 games last season. His combination of power and speed, along with the ability to hit for a high average, means he should be drafted in the early rounds of all fantasy formats.

MLB | Gerardo Parra seeking three-year deal

Mon, 11 Jan 2016 11:10:38 -0800

Free-agent OF Gerardo Parra (Orioles) is speculated to be seeking a three-year deal in the neighborhood of $24 million, but Parra's agent, Jose Mijares, only is saying that his client wants a three-year contract. The Colorado Rockies are one of three teams pursuing Parra, and a deal could be agreed on soon. The Rockies would be more likely to trade OFs Carlos Gonzalez or Charlie Blackmon if they were to sign Parra.

Fantasy Tip: Parra faded after his trade to the Baltimore Orioles last year, but he can still be useful for stretches of time in all fantasy leagues. A rebound is entirely possible, and he would be that much more attractive as a late-round sleeper if he signed with the Rockies.

Rockies | Colorado sought Rays starter

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 10:16:21 -0800

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon or OF Corey Dickerson were potentially dangled to the Tampa Bay Rays as the Rockies were seeking starting pitching. The Rays are well-stocked in outfielders and are likely looking for prospects for their starters.

Fantasy Tip: If either player finds himself on a different team next season, the fantasy impact could be pretty big. Neither player has a long track record pre-Coors Field. As it stands, they're midrange outfielders. That could depreciate if they're dealt.

Royals | Kansas City eyeing Colorado outfielders?

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 14:37:27 -0800

Colorado Rockies OFs Carlos Gonzalez, Corey Dickerson and Charlie Blackmon could be of trade interest to the Kansas City Royals, in the opinion of's Jerry Crasnick.

Fantasy Tip: The Royals have holes in each of their corner outfield positions. One is expected to be filled by Jarred Dyson, but trading for one of the outfielders from Colorado could work, too. It all depends on how willing Kansas City is to open up their prospect wallet. Stay tuned for updates.

Rockies | Colorado outfielders are popular

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 12:13:38 -0800

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez is primarily being discussed in trade talks, but OFs Charlie Blackmon and Corey Dickerson are also receiving calls from other teams.

Fantasy Tip: The free-agent market for outfielders is unfolding, and some teams would rather not pay the high prices for the likes of Yoenis Cespedes and Jason Heyward. All three Rockies outfielders are heavily coveted in all fantasy leagues, with Dickerson being the biggest risk because of injuries.

Rockies | Charlie Blackmon resting Saturday

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 10:57:08 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon is not in the starting lineup against San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy Saturday, Oct. 3. OF Corey Dickerson will play center field and bat second Saturday, while OF Ben Paulsen will play left field and hit seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Dickerson ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is batting .286 with four home runs and 10 RBIs since Sept. 1, and is hitting .304 against San Francisco this year, making him a decent FantasyScore option today. Paulsen ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is batting just .224 over the same time period, and isn't a great choice for daily lineups.

Rockies | Charlie Blackmon returns to lineup

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 16:29:52 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon (neck) is back in the starting lineup hitting leadoff against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Mike Bolsinger Friday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Blackmon ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) is in the lineup, he's a solid choice for FantasyScore owners, especially when taking hacks at hitter-friendly Coors Field.
