Braves | Mallex Smith, Jace Peterson in lineup

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 07:52:44 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Mallex Smith and 2B Jace Peterson are back in the starting lineup against New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom Sunday, June 19. In addition, INF Chase d'Arnaud is starting at third base and batting seventh this afternoon. OF Jeff Francoeur is receiving the afternoon off.

Fantasy Tip: Smith is being used as the leadoff hitter today but he is just 5-for-45 (.111) in that role, so he should be avoided in all fantasy formats. Peterson is batting .360 in 25 at-bats over the last two weeks and makes an excellent source of cap relief in daily games.

Braves | Three Braves out Saturday

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 14:28:24 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Mallex Smith, 3B Adonis Garcia (ankle) and 2B Jace Peterson are out of the lineup Saturday, June 18, with 2B Chase d'Arnaud leading off, OF Jeff Francoeur cleaning up and 3B Brandon Snyder hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: With lefty Steven Matz on the hill, d'Arnaud and Frenchy are low-end options as both have success against lefties. Snyder has just nine at-bats on the year and isn't worth consideration.

Braves | Adonis Garcia out vs. Mets

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 12:23:24 -0700

Atlanta Braves 3B Adonis Garcia (ankle) is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 17. INF Chase d'Arnaud is starting at third base and batting sixth against New York Mets SP Matt Harvey Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Garcia is day-to-day with the ankle injury. He is nothing more than a low-end option in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues, and d'Arnaud is even lower on the totem pole in those deep setups. Don't fret fading d'Arnaud in daily contests Friday.

Braves | Erick Aybar sitting vs. Reds

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 09:00:23 -0700

Atlanta Braves SS Erick Aybar is not in the starting lineup Thursday, June 16. SS Chase d'Arnaud is starting at the 6 and is hitting eighth against Cincinnati Reds SP Dan Straily.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud has limited offensive upside but has been hot at the plate recently, hitting .283 this month with four RBI in 53 at-bats. He's yet to homer, though, in parts of five major league seasons, so he profiles as more of a desperation daily selection, especially while hitting low in the order.

Braves | Jace Peterson resting vs. southpaw

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 12:09:51 -0700

Atlanta Braves 2B Jace Peterson is not in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds left-handed SP Brandon Finnegan Tuesday, June 14. SS Chase d'Arnaud is starting at the keystone and is hitting second.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud has picked it up at the plate of late and is now up to a .309/.362/.402 slash line, but he still has no home runs and only three RBI. That shows how limited he is in the power department, so despite a nice lineup spot he's nothing more than a low-end daily pick at the shortstop position.

Braves | Adonis Garcia out vs. Padres

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 17:02:07 -0700

Atlanta Braves 3B Adonis Garcia is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, June 7. SS Chase d'Arnaud is starting at third base and is hitting second against San Diego Padres SP Colin Rea. Also, SS Daniel Castro draws into the lineup at the 6 and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud is on a nice little streak here, but his bat is limited for fantasy owners, and he's nothing more than a deep sleeper selection in daily games without much power to speak of. Castro is a similar defense-first player and should be avoided everywhere Tuesday.

Braves | Chase d'Arnaud effective of late

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 09:49:47 -0700

Atlanta Braves SS Chase d'Arnaud is 9-for-25 (.360) with two doubles in six games in June.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud isn't much of a hitter and possesses very little power, which makes him only attractive for playing time right now in NL-only leagues with Erick Aybar on the DL.

Braves | Chase d'Arnaud hot right now

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 15:34:12 -0700

Atlanta Braves SS Chase d'Arnaud is hitting .372 (16-for-43) in his last 13 games.

Fantasy Tip: He's raised his average to .351 on the year, but he has no home runs or RBI and has just 65 plate appearances. D'Arnaud is unlikely to keep the hot hitting up and won't see regular playing time throughout the season. He's strictly an NL-only candidate and remains a low-end play in daily formats even while hitting second Friday night.

Braves | Four players sitting for Atlanta

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 06:32:40 -0700

Atlanta Braves SS Gordon Beckham, OF Nick Markakis, 2B Kelly Johnson and C A.J. Pierzynski are not in the starting lineup against San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner Thursday, June 2. SS Chase d'Arnaud will start at second base and is batting second. OF Jeff Francoeur will start in right field and is batting fourth in the lineup. C Tyler Flowers will start at catcher and is batting sixth, while 2B Daniel Castro will start at shortstop and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: All four players in the lineup have received decent playing time against left-handed pitching this season. Francoeur and d'Arnaud have posted solid numbers over the last seven days and should be considered sleeper options in daily fantasy leagues. Flowers and Castro should be avoided in most leagues since they have struggled at the plate.

Braves | Tyler Flowers gets the day off

Sun, 29 May 2016 12:21:48 -0700

Atlanta Braves C Tyler Flowers is not in the lineup on Sunday, May 29, against Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler. C A.J. Pierzynski will draw his first start in four days behind the plate and bat sixth. INF Chase d'Arnaud will see his first action of the year at shortstop - the third different Atlanta player to start there in as many days - and hit eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Flowers has been one of the few bright spots on a dreadful Atlanta team this season, although he is only a consideration for those owners in NL-only or two-catcher formats. The 29-year-old d'Arnaud should start seeing more playing time with Erick Aybar on the disabled list and is batting .356, but he has yet to hit a home run or drive in a run in 45 at-bats.
