Arizona Diamondbacks P Daniel Hudson will make his first major league start in nearly two years Sunday, May 10, against the San Diego Padres. Manager Chip Hale said he will only throw 50-60 pitches before exiting the game and giving way to several relievers, including J.C. Ramirez.
Fantasy Tip: Hudson has made 12 relief appearances since his last start in June 2012, which ended prematurely when he tore his ulnar collateral ligament. He is not available in FantasyScore and will head back to the bullpen after today's outing, with Archie Bradley (head) expected to return later this week.

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Daniel Hudson (elbow) is able to fully participate in spring training this year after recovering from his second Tommy John surgery. Hudson had three outings in relief at the end of last season. The Diamondbacks are trying to find a role that can keep Hudson healthy, but for now he's being stretched out as a starter.
Fantasy Tip: Keep an eye on Hudson this spring and the progress he makes. If he stays as a starter and wins a spot in the rotation, he could be worth an final-round flier in deeper mixed leagues. If the D-backs determine that he's better used as a reliever, he can be ignored in all fantasy leagues.

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Daniel Hudson will initially get a look as a starter, according to MLB.com's Steve Gilbert.
Fantasy Tip: Hudson is in an open competition for one of three rotation spots behind likely No. 1 and No. 2 SPs Josh Collmenter and Jeremy Hellickson, respectively. Hudson totaled three appearances out of the Diamondbacks' bullpen in 2014 after successfully returning from his second Tommy John surgery. An innings limit should be expected if he captures a rotation spot, but that wouldn't prevent him from being a worthwhile late-round pick in NL-only leagues.

As many as 10 pitchers could be competing for the final three spots in the Arizona Diamondbacks' starting rotation. SPs Josh Collmenter and Jeremy Hellickson are expected to win the first two spots in the rotation, although nothing is etched in stone. SPs Chase Anderson, Archie Bradley, Trevor Cahill, Andrew Chafin, Rubby De La Rosa, Randall Delgado, Daniel Hudson, Vidal Nuno, Robbie Ray and Allen Webster are vying for the other spots, although several of these pitchers could wind up in the bullpen or the minor leagues.

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Josh Collmenter and SP Jeremy Hellickson will likely open the season in the starting rotation, but a wide variety of pitchers are in contention for the final three spots. SP Trevor Cahill and SP Vidal Nuno have the most major league experience. SP's Chase Anderson, Rubby De La Rosa, Allen Webster, and Robbie Ray received looks last season. Top SP prospect Archie Bradley will probably open the year in the minors. Other candidates include P's Andrew Chafin, Randall Delgado, and Daniel Hudson.
