Pirates | Josh Harrison back in the lineup

Mon, 30 May 2016 13:33:34 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Josh Harrison (illness) is leading off against Miami Marlins SP Justin Nicolino Monday, May 30.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison has missed the past two games, but you can return him to your fantasy lineups with confidence Monday. He has a solid .321/.356/.426 slash line with 19 runs, two home runs, 25 RBI and seven stolen bases. Hitting atop the lineup also helps his upside, especially in daily contests.

Pirates | Josh Harrison still out

Sun, 29 May 2016 09:43:34 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Josh Harrison (illness) is not in the starting lineup against Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez Sunday, May 29. 2B Sean Rodriguez will start at second base and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez has received several starts in the past week but is hitting only .200 over the last seven days. Owners in most leagues should be able to find better options to use in their lineups.

Pirates | Josh Harrison out of Saturday lineup

Sat, 28 May 2016 14:09:39 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Josh Harrison is not starting Saturday, May 28, against the Texas Rangers. 2B Cole Figueroa is batting ninth against Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison was sick earlier in the week, but this appears to be a normal night off. Harrison has a .538 average in the last week and is tearing the cover off the ball. Figueroa doesn't have a broad sample size to merit fantasy consideration and should be left off your lineup.

Pirates | Josh Harrison returns as pinch-hitter

Thu, 26 May 2016 16:30:07 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Josh Harrison (illness) returned to action in a pinch-hitting role Thursday, May 26, against the Arizona Diamondbacks and delivered a two-run double in his only at-bat.

Fantasy Tip: This should indicate Harrison is very close to returning to the starting lineup, and perhaps he'll be back in there for the club's next game, if not by the end of the weekend. He's been having a strong season, batting .319 with 25 RBI -- his most runs driven in this early in the season.

Pirates | Two Pirates sitting Thursday

Thu, 26 May 2016 07:41:23 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 1B John Jaso and 2B Josh Harrison are out of the lineup Thursday, May 26, with 1B David Freese hitting third and 2B Sean Rodriguez hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Freese homered yesterday and is hitting .350 against lefties this year. He's a solid option against Patrick Corbin. Rodriguez is hitting just .258 this month after a fast start. He hits lefties much better than righties, though, and he's a low-end option.

Pirates | Josh Harrison scratched with illness

Wed, 25 May 2016 14:56:36 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Josh Harrison (illness) was scratched from the starting lineup with an illness Wednesday, May 25. 1B Sean Rodriguez is replacing Harrison at second base and is batting sixth against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Rubby De La Rosa.

Fantasy Tip: S-Rod isn't a bad replacement, as he's hitting .298 with four home runs and 14 RBI. De La Rosa has improved this season but isn't exactly a daunting matchup, making Rodriguez worth a look as a midrange flier in daily contests.

Pirates | John Jaso, Josh Harrison out again

Wed, 11 May 2016 11:12:59 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 1B John Jaso and 2B Josh Harrison are out of the lineup again Wednesday, May 11, after the game the previous day was postponed. 3B David Freese is leading off, and 2B Sean Rodriguez is hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Freese has a .282-1-10 line with a decent matchup against Alfredo Simon. It's questionable how well Freese translates to the leadoff spot, but Andrew McCutchen is behind him. He should see plenty of fastballs when the order turns over. Rodriguez still has a ridiculous .341-4-14 line, and both are worthy considerations today.

Pirates | John Jaso, Josh Harrison sitting

Tue, 10 May 2016 11:30:57 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 1B John Jaso and 2B Josh Harrison are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 10. 3B David Freese is starting at first base and hitting leadoff, while 1B Sean Rodriguez is at the keystone and is batting seventh against Cincinnati Reds SP Alfredo Simon.

Fantasy Tip: Leadoff is an odd spot for Freese, but the positioning atop the order gives him mild intrigue as a daily sleeper against the hittable Simon tonight. Rodriguez has four homers, 14 RBI and a .341 average in just 44 at-bats this year and also profiles as a sleeper to target in DFS action tonight.

Pirates | Starling Marte, Josh Harrison out

Tue, 03 May 2016 11:50:39 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Starling Marte and 2B Josh Harrison are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 3. OF Matt Joyce is starting in right field and hitting cleanup, while 1B Sean Rodriguez is at the keystone and is batting seventh against Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta.

Fantasy Tip: Joyce and Rodriguez have been very productive as role players for the Bucs to start the year, but their daily fantasy stock is down tonight while facing the almighty Arrieta.

Pirates | Josh Harrison's streak ends at 10

Mon, 02 May 2016 23:37:37 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Josh Harrison's hitting streak ended at 10 games Monday, May 2.

Fantasy Tip: J-Hay is hitting .313 with 15 RBI and five steals. He should be owned just about everywhere and is a daily consideration in the upper-middle second basemen.
