Nationals | Stephen Strasburg running hot lately

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 22:38:19 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg allowed two earned runs, two hits and a walk with seven strikeouts over six innings in a win Tuesday, Aug. 25, against the San Diego Padres. Strasburg is 5-1 with a 1.51 ERA over his past seven starts, and he is 5-1 in his career against San Diego.

Fantasy Tip: Strasburg ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) has been pricy all season for FantasyScore players, but he is finally living up to salary expectations lately.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg dominating in August

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 14:25:40 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg ranks fifth in ERA (1.35), third in WHIP (0.70), third in strikeout percentage (34.2) and sixth in walk percentage (2.7) in the month of August.

Fantasy Tip: It sure does look like Strasburg ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) is finally healthy for the stretch run after dealing with several injuries and a DL stint this year. He's a strong FantasyScore pick tonight against the San Diego Padres, who strike out often.

Padres | Travis Jankowski hitting ninth on Tuesday

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 13:31:22 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Travis Jankowski is batting ninth in the lineup Tuesday, Aug. 25, against Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg.

Fantasy Tip: Jankowski ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) has a .556 mark with three RBIs in his first week of action, but he largely hits against right-handed pitching. This will likely stay the same even if Jankowski's bat stays hot, but it's worth keeping an eye on this to see how much time Jankowski takes away from OF Melvin Upton.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg likes pitching in SF

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 09:38:31 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg is 2-0 with a 1.89 ERA in three career starts against the San Francisco Giants on the road in his career, and he has never allowed more than two earned runs while striking out seven in each of his three outings there.

Fantasy Tip: Based on the results of Strasburg's ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) first start off the DL last week, it looks like he's completely healthy and ready to put up good numbers again for his fantasy owners. A start in San Fran, where the Giants don't hit nearly as well, is a good one on FantasyScore.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg dominant in return

Sat, 08 Aug 2015 20:05:44 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (oblique) allowed one run on three hits and struck out 12 in a win over the Colorado Rockies Saturday, Aug. 8, in his first start since returning from the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Strasburg ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) brought a 5.16 ERA into the start, but he looked as strong as he has all year. It remains to be seen if he can continue to pitch at a high level, but his strikeout potential makes him a high-upside play at FantasyScore whenever he takes the mound.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg starting Saturday

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 17:17:23 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (oblique) will come off the disabled list and start against the Colorado Rockies Saturday, Aug. 8. SP Doug Fister heads to the bullpen as a result, according to manager Matt Williams.

Fantasy Tip: As dangerous as the Rockies can be at home, they aren't the same formidable offense on the road (.685 OPS). Strasburg ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) is certainly attractive to FantasyScore gamers Saturday night in his first start back off the DL, since most owners will look to avoid him. Strasburg had been pitching very well before going on the DL.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg lined up for Saturday

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 12:49:35 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (oblique) is likely to be activated from the disabled list to start against the Colorado Rockies Saturday, Aug. 8. However, manager Matt Williams hasn't made it official yet. Strasburg has been out since July 4 with a strained left oblique muscle, and he's sporting a 5.16 ERA in 13 starts this season. However, he gave up just two runs in 15 2/3 innings while striking out 18 in his time in between DL stints. SP Doug Fister could be bumped out of the rotation when Strasburg returns. SP Joe Ross is a candidate to be sent back to the minors, too.

Fantasy Tip: The Nats are home against the Rockies Saturday night, which makes it more palatable to use Strasburg ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) on FantasyScore in his first start back from the DL.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg rehab update

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 17:10:05 -0700

Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (oblique) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Aug. 4. Manager Matt Williams is expected to determine if he will pitch in a major league game next week Thursday, Aug. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Strasburg ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) should be avoided in his first start back from the disabled list by FantasyScore owners, so he can prove that he is both healthy and effective.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg feeling good

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 13:40:08 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (oblique) will throw a bullpen in the next few days before a decision is made on whether he'll come off the disabled list, according to manager Matt Williams. Strasburg said he felt great during his rehab start with Class AAA Syracuse Monday, Aug. 3.

Fantasy Tip: It's expected that Strasburg ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) would come off the DL after his rehab start Monday night. However, the team is being cautious with him and is taking all the precautions to keep him healthy for the rest of the year. Avoiding him on FantasyScore in his first start back will be the safe approach. A juicy matchup could force your hand to use him as a contrarian play, though.

Nationals | Stephen Strasburg makes rehab start

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 18:17:50 -0700

Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (oblique) allowed two runs with five hits and no walks while striking out 11 batters in 5 2/3 innings in a minor-league rehab start with Class AAA Syracuse Monday, Aug. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Strasburg ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) is likely to be ready to return to the big league rotation this weekend sometime against the Colorado Rockies, but FantasyScore players might want to err on the side of caution and wait to see him make it through a full outing without any restrictions before pulling the trigger on him.
