Yankees | Rob Refsnyder coming up for Yanks

Tue, 17 May 2016 15:29:42 -0700

New York Yankees SP Chad Green and P Conor Mullee were optioned to the minors Tuesday, May 17. Ps Luis Cessa and James Pazos and 2B Rob Refsnyder were recalled from the minors. Also, RP Phil Coke was designated for assignment.

Fantasy Tip: Refsnyder is likely to provide middle infield depth for the Yanks and might not be up in the bigs for long with Alex Rodriguez slated to come off the DL Thursday. Stay tuned, but unless Refsnyder is scheduled to see regular at-bats, he can likely be ignored everywhere.

Yankees | CC Sabathia lands on DL

Fri, 06 May 2016 11:20:03 -0700

New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia (groin) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left groin strain Friday, May 6. RP Phil Coke had his contract selected from Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Sabathia had been mediocre in each of his first four starts (three earned runs in each outing) before tossing seven shutout innings against the Orioles last time out. He's only worth stashing in AL-only formats. Ivan Nova is the most likely candidate to jump into the rotation, but he's sporting a 5.14 ERA and has only seven strikeouts in 14 innings of relief.

Braves | Phil Coke agrees to deal with Atlanta

Tue, 08 Mar 2016 14:58:05 -0800

Free-agent RP Phil Coke (Cubs) agreed to a minor-league deal with the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday, March 8, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: The Braves needed another southpaw in the bullpen after losing Andrew McKirahan to Tommy John surgery earlier in the week. Coke posted a 5.68 ERA in 18 appearances with the Chicago Cubs and Toronto Blue Jays last season, and is obviously well off the fantasy radar.

Cubs | Phil Coke lands job on north side

Mon, 30 Mar 2015 18:12:43 -0700

Chicago Cubs RP Phil Coke has made the opening day roster, according to a source. Coke had opted out of his contract Friday, March 27, because the team had not put him on the major league roster.

Fantasy Tip: Coke will work in late-inning situations, and he can help NL-only rotisserie owners in the ERA and WHIP categories, as well as those fantasy owners in leagues which reward holds.
