Marlins | Giancarlo Stanton out Thursday

Thu, 26 May 2016 08:09:53 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton (side) is out of the lineup again Thursday, May 26, after missing the previous game with soreness in his right side. OF Cole Gillespie is hitting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: It's a tough break for Stanton because he broke a slump with a home run the night before the soreness pulled him from the lineup. It's pretty telling that he has been held out two days in a row when the team has the designated hitter available in Tampa. Gillespie is hitting .154 with seven K's in 13 at-bats. He isn't a good option against Drew Smyly.

Marlins | Giancarlo Stanton out with soreness

Wed, 25 May 2016 14:39:55 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton (side) is out of the starting lineup with "a little soreness" in his right side Wednesday, May 25, according to manager Don Mattingly. OF Ichiro Suzuki is starting in right field and batting leadoff against Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Andriese.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton did hit a home run last night, but he's been struggling big time in recent weeks. He's hitting just .173 with four home runs and 31 strikeouts in 75 at-bats in May. Despite the slump, Stanton should continue to be started in all formats when he's in the lineup. Perhaps the rest day will help him get back on track. Suzuki went hitless yesterday but has been red-hot at the plate and isn't a bad flier to take in daily games tonight.

Marlins | Giancarlo Stanton goes deep

Tue, 24 May 2016 20:09:36 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton went 1-for-4 with one home run and one RBI against the Tampa Bay Rays Tuesday, May 24. His home run snapped a 6-for-57 drought.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton hit his first home run in seven games Tuesday but still has only three games during that span. Stanton should still be in starting lineups because of his power potential, but owners in daily fantasy leagues may want to look at other options.

Marlins | Giancarlo Stanton struggling

Sun, 22 May 2016 01:09:16 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts Saturday, May 21, against the Washington Nationals. Stanton has 15 strikeouts in his last five games.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton was .265-27-67 last season and had 95 strikeouts in 74 games. Stanton is still worth playing because he could break out of that slump and go on a tear at any time. Still, it is very frustrating because Stanton could have problems at the plate that are difficult to overcome.

Marlins | Giancarlo Stanton working with coaches

Wed, 18 May 2016 15:32:16 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton is working with hitting coaches Barry Bonds and Frank Menechino regarding his current slump. With the club's loss Wednesday, May 18, versus the Philadelphia Phillies, Stanton finished the series 0-for-10 with nine strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: There's no doubt Stanton is in an ugly slump right now, but given his monstrous talents, there's every reason to believe he'll break out of his funk sooner than later. Just keep starting him and hope his inevitable resurgence is close.

Marlins | Giancarlo Stanton in rare offensive funk

Wed, 18 May 2016 12:42:28 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts during the game against the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday, May 18. He is now just 4-for-41 (.098 batting average) since Saturday, May 7, which is the second-lowest batting average among 197 qualified hitters during the span.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton's slash line has dropped from .274/.391/.632 to .227/.334/.515 during the slump, and he has just a single home run. His track record is too solid to even consider benching the slugger, though, and you should expect Stanton to kick his current skid sooner than later. Non-owners shouldn't hesitate pitching a buy-low offer, either.

Marlins | Giancarlo Stanton muscles up

Sun, 15 May 2016 14:52:07 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton left the yard for the first time in nine games Sunday, May 15, and finished 1-for-4 in a win over the Washington Nationals.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton collided with Marcell Ozuna on an inside-the-park home run in the fourth inning and received medical attention for a short time following the incident, but the oft-injured 26-year-old showed no ill effects when he sent Joe Ross' first-pitch slider over the fence for his first homer since May 6. He should be fine for tomorrow's series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies and should remain in all fantasy lineups.

Marlins | Giancarlo Stanton resting Sunday

Sun, 08 May 2016 07:30:15 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton is not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Nola Sunday, May 8. OF Ichiro Suzuki will lead off and play right field.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki is batting at a .353 clip versus right-handers this season and is hitting .429 at home, so he should be strongly considered by daily fantasy players looking for a means of productive cap relief.

Marlins | Giancarlo Stanton sitting vs. Dodgers

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 13:43:34 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton is not in the lineup Friday, April 29. OF Ichiro Suzuki is starting in right field and batting first against Milwaukee Brewers SP Zach Davies Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to replace Stanton where you can in your seasonal leagues and avoid him in daily contests. He already has seven home runs through 88 plate appearances for the year. Suzuki is 8-for-25 to start the season with a .370 on-base percentage, which makes him a potential low-priced option in DFS.
