The Texas Rangers have announced that Steve Buechele will serve as the team's new bench coach, with Hector Ortiz coaching first base and Jayce Tingler acting as the new major-league field coordinator. Pitching coach Mike Maddux, bullpen coach Andy Hawkins, hitting coach Dave Magadan and assistant hitting coach Bobby Jones will be retained for the 2015 season. The club is still searching for a third-base coach.

The Baltimore Orioles are likely to name their new pitching coach early next week, with a decision possibly coming as soon as Monday, Oct. 28. The four leading candidates are from outside the organization: former Philadelphia Phillies pitching coach Rich Dubee, current Seattle Mariners pitching coach Carl Willis, Texas Rangers bullpen coach Andy Hawkins and Atlanta Braves minor league pitching coordinator Dave Wallace.

The Atlanta Braves have to give permission to the Baltimore Orioles to interview minor-league pitching coordinator Dave Wallace. The Orioles are expected to interview him starting next week, as well as former Philadelphia Phillies pitching coach Rich Dubee, Seattle Mariners pitching coach Carl Willis and Texas Rangers bullpen coach Andy Hawkins. Dubee's interview is set for Tuesday, Oct. 22. Manager Buck Showalter said Friday, Oct. 18, that the team will also consider bullpen coach Scott McGregor, interim pitching coach Bill Castro and Triple-A pitching coach Mike Griffin.

Texas Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux was away from the team Saturday, May 11, to attend his daughter's college graduation. Bullpen coach Andy Hawkins filled in for him, with minor league pitching coordinator Danny Clark serving as bullpen coach for the game.

The Associated Press reports Texas Rangers interim pitching coach Andy Hawkins will be a candidate to keep his job. General manager Jon Daniels said others will be interviewed, though. Daniels said Hawkins will remain in the organization in some capacity even if someone else is hired as pitching coach.
