Indians | Chris Johnson activated

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 09:55:28 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Chris Johnson (hand) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) could work his way back into a regular role for the Tribe in the final month of the season after he went 9-for-21 (.429) after being traded from Atlanta. He's worth a look in deep mixed leagues if he's still available and you need corner infield help.

Indians | Chris Johnson rehab update

Fri, 28 Aug 2015 18:27:14 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Chris Johnson (hand) began a minor league rehab assignment with Class AA Akron Friday, Aug. 28.

Fantasy Tip: No timetable has been established for Johnson's ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) return. Although he is not expected to be an everyday player once he comes back, he should see ample playing time at first base, third base and in the outfield, so he's worth rostering in deep mixed fantasy formats.

Indians | Jason Kipnis activated

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 13:25:49 -0700

Cleveland Indians 2B Jason Kipnis (shoulder) was activated from the disabled list Tuesday, Aug. 18, and 3B Chris Johnson (hand) was placed on the DL in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Get Kipnis ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) back into lineups in all formats immediately. He's been a force to be reckoned with offensively this season. Johnson ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) was hitting well since being traded to Cleveland and was playing every day. He is worth hanging onto if you have the room in deep mixed formats.

Indians | Chris Johnson out from spider bite

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 08:18:02 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Chris Johnson (hand) missed two games over the weekend because of a potential spider bite on his left hand. Johnson is on antibiotics and could miss a few more days.

Fantasy Tip: Jerry Sands ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is seeing time at first base in Johnson's place and could be a matchup play on FantasyScore.

Indians | Chris Johnson has solid start

Sun, 09 Aug 2015 15:13:51 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Chris Johnson made his first start Sunday, Aug. 9, against the Minnesota Twins and ended up going 4-for-4.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is showing early signs that the change of scenery may have done him some good, but as always wait and see for a few games before you put him in the lineup regularly.

Indians | Chris Johnson starting at first base

Sun, 09 Aug 2015 07:33:38 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Chris Johnson is starting at first base and batting eighth against Minnesota Twins SP Phil Hughes Sunday, Aug. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) owns a .235/.270/.318 slash line this season and has lost his seasonal value in the majority of formats. FantasyScore players should wait until he shows signs of life at the dish before investing. He has been much better against lefties this season, though, with a .323 batting average. So he is a viable value play when the Indians draw a southpaw.

Indians | Chris Johnson could move around

Sun, 09 Aug 2015 06:51:34 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Chris Johnson is expected to receive some playing time at first base and third base for the rest of the season. Johnson said he is willing to take some fly balls in the outfield to see if he can be used at that position.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) probably will not be an everyday player but should receive some starts. He is hitting .234 with two home runs this season and is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

Braves | Atlanta adds Nick Swisher, Michael Bourn

Fri, 07 Aug 2015 12:29:47 -0700

The Atlanta Braves acquired OFs Nick Swisher (knee), Michael Bourn and cash considerations from the Cleveland Indians for 3B Chris Johnson Friday, Aug. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Adonis Garcia ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) was already receiving the majority of starts at the hot corner, so he'll see everyday at-bats and has flashed some pop with four home runs through his first 52 plate appearances this season. Swisher ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is still rehabbing his knee injury, but could fill in at first base while Freddie Freeman ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) is out. Bourn ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) projects to compete for playing time with Eury Perez ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) and Cameron Maybin ($3,900, 7.8% of cap).

Indians | Tribe add Chris Johnson

Fri, 07 Aug 2015 12:23:17 -0700

The Cleveland Indians acquired 3B Chris Johnson from the Atlanta Braves for OFs Nick Swisher (knee), Michael Bourn and financial considerations Friday, Aug. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) should see semi-regular at-bats as the designated hitter and grab some playing time away from 23-year-old Giovanny Urshela ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) at third base. It has been a disastrous past two seasons for Johnson, though, and currently, he hardly tips the fantasy scales in the majority of formats. Check back for updates on who will take over regular center field duty for the Indians.

Braves | Chris Johnson at 1B Tuesday

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 14:21:03 -0700

Atlanta Braves 3B Chris Johnson is starting at first base and hitting cleanup against San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy Tuesday, Aug. 4.

Fantasy Tip: With Freddie Freeman (oblique) back on the disabled list, Johnson ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) should be the one to benefit the most from more playing time in Atlanta. Johnson doesn't have much power and is only hitting .184 (16-for-87) with one home run and five RBI against right-handers in 2015. Even against Peavy and in a run-producing spot in the order, Johnson is a pretty mediocre FantasyScore pick tonight.
