Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera went 1-for-3 with a run scored and a pair of walks Tuesday, April 26, against the Washington Nationals.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera has hit safely in seven straight games, going 9-for-24 (.375). He is a solid NL-only fantasy option and a steam play in DFS formats.

Phillies | Odubel Herrera stuffs his stat line

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 05:10:56 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera went 3-for-4 with four runs, a home run, two RBI, a stolen base and two walks during the Phillies' 10-6 win over the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday, April 23.

Fantasy Tip: After a sneaky productive 2015 showing with 64 runs, eight home runs, 41 RBI, 16 stolen bases and a .291/.344/.418 slash line over 495 at-bats, Herrera's strong start this year is encouraging. He is up to 10 runs, two home runs, eight RBI and four stolen bases with a .283/.442/.433 line this year, and Herrera can help in deep mixed leagues. Scoop him up if you need an outfielder.

Phillies | Odubel Herrera being more patient

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 17:53:39 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera is trying to display more patience at the plate in 2016, after striking out 129 times in 537 plate appearances last year as a rookie. He had 16 strikeouts through his first 16 games this season but also led the majors in walks (15) and pitches per plate appearance (5.03) entering play Thursday, April 21.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera is batting .255 with a home run, six RBI and two steals through 51 at-bats and has been used recently as a leadoff hitter after batting second or third for much of the season. He should be viewed as a viable option for NL-only and deep mixed fantasy leagues.

Phillies | Maikel Franco out Friday

Fri, 08 Apr 2016 06:52:31 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco is out of the lineup Friday, April 8, with OF Odubel Herrera hitting third.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera is off to a 1-for-11 (.091) start, and starting him against Jacob deGrom isn't the safest idea in DFS.

Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera (finger) hopes to return to action by the weekend of Friday, March 25.

Phillies | Odubel Herrera progressing slowly

Mon, 21 Mar 2016 13:08:04 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera (finger) could have his injured right middle finger re-examined Tuesday, March 22, because it has not progressed as quickly as expected.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera posted a .297/.344/.418 slash line with 64 runs, eight home runs, 41 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 147 games. He is likely best viewed as a deep mixed and NL-only option at this point, but you'll also want to keep tabs on this finger injury. Tyler Goeddel could see more playing time, if Herrera isn't ready for opening day.

Phillies | Odubel Herrera X-rays negative

Mon, 14 Mar 2016 15:14:22 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera (finger) had an X-ray on his right middle finger that came back negative. This was the result of a headfirst slide at home plate that took place a couple of weeks ago. Herrera will be available to play Tuesday, March 15.

Fantasy Tip: Good news for the Phillies after recently losing fellow young outfielder Aaron Altherr for a handful of months. Herrera was surprisingly decent last year in his rookie season, primarily serving as the club's leadoff man. He hit .297/.344/.418 with eight home runs and 41 RBI in 147 games, while swiping 16 bases in 24 attempts. The 24-year-old should really only be looked at in NL-only leagues and deeper formats.

Phillies | Peter Bourjos to play LF and RF

Sat, 27 Feb 2016 12:44:18 -0800

Philadelphia Phillies OF Peter Bourjos is expected to get most of his playing time at the corner outfield positions, along with OF Aaron Altherr, according to manager Pete Mackanin. OF Odubel Herrera appears firmly entrenched as the team's regular center fielder.

Fantasy Tip: From 2006 to 2013, Bourjos had five appearances in left field and one appearance in right field in the minors, with no games at either position in the majors. At best, he is nothing more than a late-round flier in NL-only fantasy formats.

Phillies | Odubel Herrera sits Sunday

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 10:21:05 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera is out of the starting lineup Sunday, Sept. 27, against the Washington Nationals. OF Darin Ruf, who has been playing first base, is in left field. Ruf is batting fourth against Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is out due to the left vs. left matchup Gonzalez provides, so the Phillies needed to shift their lineup around.

Phillies | Odubel Herrera out of lineup Saturday

Sat, 26 Sep 2015 11:51:19 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera is not in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg Saturday, Sept. 26. OF Aaron Altherr will play center field and bat second, while INF/OF Darnell Sweeney will play left field and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Altherr ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is coming off the best game of his career. He went 4-for-5 with a double, two home runs and five RBIs against the Nats Friday and could be worth a flier today in FantasyScore. Sweeney ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is hitless in his last 18 at-bats and should be avoided for the time being.
