Nationals | Anthony Rendon sitting out

Sun, 26 Jul 2015 07:54:17 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon (quadriceps) is not in the starting lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Gerrit Cole Sunday, July 26. 2B Danny Espinosa will start at second base and is batting second in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: The Nationals likely are taking things slow with Rendon ($3,900, 7.8% of cap), so he may not play back-to-back games initially. Espinosa ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is hitting only .221 with two home runs and six RBI this month and may not be a great option on FantasyScore.

Nationals | Danny Espinosa exits

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 15:50:06 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Danny Espinosa (leg) left the game after suffering an apparent injury after a diving attempt at a ground ball Saturday, July 18.

Fantasy Tip: Check Espinosa's ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) status before using him on FantasyScore Sunday.

Nationals | Danny Espinosa drives in three

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 20:21:34 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Danny Espinosa went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in a 7-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles Saturday, July 11.

Fantasy Tip: Espinosa ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has been boom or bust lately, recording three multi-hit games and two hitless efforts in his last five. He has decent power potential for a middle infielder, and he is worth a look as a cheaper option at FantasyScore when the matchup is favorable.

Nationals | No Yunel Escobar Wednesday

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 12:32:45 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (hamstring) is out of the lineup for the second straight day Wednesday, July 8. 2B Danny Espinosa is starting at the hot corner again and is hitting second against Cincinnati Reds SP Michael Lorenzen. Also, 2B Dan Uggla is starting at second base once again.

Fantasy Tip: Espinosa ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is hitting only .245 (47-for-192) against right-handed pitchers this year, but he does have seven of his nine home runs against them, and he looks like a fine value pick on FantasyScore tonight against Lorenzen. Uggla ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is a poor choice in daily games as your second baseman.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar out Tuesday

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 12:38:33 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (hamstring) is not starting Tuesday, July 7, against the Cincinnati Reds. 2B Danny Espinosa has shifted over to third for this game, and 2B Dan Uggla is at second base.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) should be removed from your lineup until he is 100 percent. Espinosa ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has a price tag that may be a bit high, but he is a .273 hitter against Reds starter Johnny Cueto.

Nationals | Danny Espinosa homers in loss

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 20:47:01 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Danny Espinosa swatted a homer Monday, July 6, against the Cincinnati Reds. He finished 2-for-4 with a double and solo home run.

Fantasy Tip: Espinosa ($3,900; or 7.8% of cap) might play regularly at third base with Yunel Escobar suffering a hamstring injury in the season opener.

Nationals | Danny Espinosa batting sixth Sunday

Sun, 05 Jul 2015 14:38:26 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Danny Espinosa was dropped from second to sixth in the batting order for the Sunday, July 5, game against the San Francisco Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Espinosa ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has a .185 average (5-for-27) in the past week with 10 strikeouts. Espinosa will lose some fantasy value with the demotion in the batting order, but you should leave him off your roster as a whole because of the horrible slump he is in.

Nationals | Ian Desmond sitting vs. Braves

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 13:49:59 -0700

Washington Nationals SS Ian Desmond is not in the starting lineup Thursday, July 2. 2B Dan Uggla is playing second base and batting sixth, and 2B Danny Espinosa is batting second and filling in at shortstop against Atlanta Braves SP Manny Banuelos Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Desmond ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is reeling through an extremely disappointing season, and he cannot be started with confidence in daily contests. His year-long value is dwindling, too. Espinosa ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) continues to be a high-risk, high-reward FantasyScore play, but there is upside hitting second. Uggla ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has a .696 OPS through 94 plate appearances this season, so he is nothing more than a low-priced flier for daily games Thursday.

Nationals | Danny Espinosa knocks a pair of doubles

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 20:16:41 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Danny Espinosa went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles and a RBI during the Nationals' 6-1 win over the Atlanta Braves Tuesday, June 30.

Fantasy Tip: Espinosa ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has filled in admirably for Washington, as the club is dealing with a slew of injuries. He has 37 runs, eight home runs and 23 RBI with a .259/.336/.438 slash line, which is nothing to scoff at for a middle infielder. FantasyScore players can target him in favorable matchups, but just note he is quite inconsistent. Through his previous eight games, Espinosa was 3-for-28 without an extra-base hit.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar out Saturday

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 11:58:03 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (hand) is not in the starting lineup against the Philadelphia Phillies Saturday, June 27. INF Danny Espinosa will start at the hot corner and bat third, with 2B Dan Uggla manning second base and batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is sidelined due to a swollen hand, so Espinosa ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) will slide over from the keystone position to cover third base. Uggla $1,900, 3.8% of cap) is only batting .231 this month and is not a great FantasyScore option.
