Nationals | Wilson Ramos, Danny Espinosa out

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 11:22:15 -0700

Washington Nationals C Wilson Ramos and SS Danny Espinosa are out of the lineup Wednesday, July 6, with SS Stephen Drew and C Jose Lobaton hitting seventh and eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Drew is 3-for-9 (.333) with a homer the last week. He has a decent enough matchup against Matt Garza for a basement play. Lobaton doesn't hit enough to use in DFS.

Nationals | Two-hit night for Danny Espinosa

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 21:24:25 -0700

Washington Nationals SS Danny Espinosa finished 2-for-4 and scored one of his team's two runs in a loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday, July 05.

Fantasy Tip: Espinosa's average dipped as low as .196 early last month, but he went 22-for-63 over his final 21 June games and is batting .246 at the moment. Over his last 26 games, the Long Beach State product has scored 25 runs and is hitting .347 with 10 homers with 26 RBI. Those numbers play at any position, especially at the two he is eligible at in most leagues - second base and shortstop. As long as he's hitting like this, Espinosa is a must-start.

Nationals | Danny Espinosa locked in

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 16:47:36 -0700

Washington Nationals SS Danny Espinosa went 4-for-5 with two home runs, six RBI and two runs scored in a 12-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds Sunday, July 3, and he has five home runs and 15 RBI in his last four games.

Fantasy Tip: His average leaves a lot to be desired, but he provides plus power from the shortstop spot and should be owned in all formats.

Nationals | Danny Espinosa drives in seven

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 19:30:42 -0700

Washington Nationals SS Danny Espinosa went 2-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBI in a 13-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds Thursday, June 30.

Fantasy Tip: His batting average isn't prety, but Espinosa is up to 15 homers and 41 RBI. He is providing surprising power at a thin position, making him worth starting in just about every format.

Nationals | Several Nats regulars resting Sunday

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 09:53:44 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman, C Wilson Ramos and SS Danny Espinosa are not in the starting lineup against Milwaukee Brewers SP Jimmy Nelson Sunday, June 26. 1B Clint Robinson will bat sixth and play first base, INF Stephen Drew will bat seventh and play shortstop and C Jose Lobaton will bat eighth and start behind the plate.

Fantasy Tip: Of this afternoon's three replacements in the Washington lineup, Drew is the most productive source of salary cap relief for daily fantasy contests. He is 9-for-19 with two doubles, three home runs and eight RBI during the month of June and has raised his average for the season from .173 to .254.

Nationals | Danny Espinosa cracks another HR

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 23:44:29 -0700

Washington Nationals SS Danny Espinosa went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Tuesday, June 21, against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Fantasy Tip: Espinosa has turned up the power, posting seven homers in 18 games in the month of June. And 11 of his 13 home runs have come in the past 24 games dating back to May 25. He has re-emerged as a must-start in all head-to-head fantasy leagues, but he has less usefulness in rotisserie leagues due to his poor batting average.

Nationals | Danny Espinosa continues surge

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 20:06:26 -0700

Washington Nationals SS Danny Espinosa finished 1-for-3 and scored two of his team's three runs in a loss to the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday, June 14.

Fantasy Tip: All Espinosa has done since the Nationals sent top prospect Trea Turner back to Class AAA Syracuse on June 6 is go 11-for-26 - lifting his batting average from .196 to .224 in the process - with three home runs and 10 runs scored. Owners should feel free to take advantage of this hot streak while it lasts but also realize the .230 career hitter is probably going to cool off at any time, and when it happens, it will probably happen in spectacular fashion.

Nationals | Danny Espinosa on home run tear

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 13:46:39 -0700

Washington Nationals SS Danny Espinosa hit his 11th home run of the season Sunday, June 12. Espinosa now has eight homers in his last 14 games.

Fantasy Tip: Although his batting average is a paltry .218, Espinosa owns a .393 slugging percentage. He's also hitting .300 in June and .350 in the last seven days. Sounds like someone who doesn't want Trea Turner to steal his job. It will eventually happen, so for now go after Espinosa in daily formats only. If you have Espinosa and can grab Turner in a regular league, do it.

Nationals | Danny Espinosa not in the lineup

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 07:49:26 -0700

Washington Nationals SS Danny Espinosa is not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Nola Saturday, June 11. SS Stephen Drew will start at shortstop and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Drew has recorded five hits, two home runs and three RBI over the last three games and can be a decent option for some owners in daily fantasy leagues.

Nationals | Danny Espinosa goes deep again

Fri, 27 May 2016 19:00:05 -0700

Washington Nationals SS Danny Espinosa homered for the second straight game, going 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 6-2 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals Friday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: Espinosa is still hitting just .203, and it is only a matter of time before Trea Turner is called up to take his place. Turner should be stashed in all formats.
