Giants | Brandon Crawford inks extension

Tue, 17 Nov 2015 14:57:57 -0800

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford agreed to a six-year, $75 million extension Tuesday, Nov. 17, according to sources. The deal includes a full no-trade clause.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford has been one of the better defensive shortstops in the league since he became San Fran's starting shortstop, but he also took his game to the next level in 2015 and hit for a career-high .256 average with career highs in home runs (21) and RBI (84) in 143 games. Fantasy owners need to pay attention and bump him up a tier in the shortstop rankings for 2016.

Giants | Brandon Crawford out of lineup

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 11:55:54 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford is not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Christian Bergman Sunday, Oct. 4. INF Nick Noonan will play shortstop and bat seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Noonan ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is just 2-for-19 at the plate this season and should not be a consideration for FantasyScore lineups this afternoon.

Giants | Angel Pagan, Brandon Crawford sitting

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 10:48:20 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan and SS Brandon Crawford are not in the lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed SP Brett Anderson Thursday, Oct. 1. OF Jarrett Parker is starting in center field and batting sixth, while SS Nick Noonan is at shortstop and is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Parker ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is a worth a look as a value pick on FantasyScore, but the fact that he's facing a lefty makes him even more shaky. He has six home runs and 13 RBI in just 38 at-bats for the Giants. Ignore Noonan ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) everywhere.

Giants | Brandon Crawford reaches 20 homers

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 23:49:05 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford hit his 20th homer of the season Thursday, Sept. 24. Crawford has more homers this season than in the previous two combined (19 in 2013 and 2014).

Fantasy Tip: Crawford ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has found his power stroke this season to the point where he makes a decent mid-priced infielder in FantasyScore. Plug him in for a game and see what happens.

Giants | Brandon Crawford returns to action

Fri, 18 Sep 2015 16:54:18 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford (calf, side) is back in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Rubby De La Rosa Friday, Sept. 18, and he is hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) hasn't started a game since Sept. 8 and despite his 16 home runs off righties this season, you may want to hold off on him at FantasyScore until he's back in the flow and gets his timing back at the dish.

Giants | Brandon Crawford still out

Wed, 16 Sep 2015 16:53:57 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford (calf, side) is not in the starting lineup against the Cincinnati Reds Wednesday, Sept. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is nearing a return, and seasonal owners should expect him back in the lineup sooner than later. He hasn't been at his best in the second half with just 25 RBI after posting 52 in the first half. Still, he offers production in the power categories rarely found among middle infielders. Continue to check back for updates.

Giants | Brandon Crawford could return Friday

Tue, 15 Sep 2015 16:48:44 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford (calf, side) could return Wednesday, Sept. 16, but the more likely scenario is that he's back Friday, Sept. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) hasn't played since Sept. 8, so you should give him at least a few days on FantasyScore being plugging him back into your lineups. He's one of the better all-around shortstops in the game, though, so he could still help you make that push in the final few weeks.

Giants | Brandon Crawford closer than Joe Panik

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 09:00:17 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford (calf, side) is closer to a return to the lineup than 2B Joe Panik (back).

Fantasy Tip: Crawford ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) hasn't played since Sept. 8, and Panik ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has been out since Sept. 9. Obviously you'll want to avoid both players on FantasyScore for the foreseeable future, and it's probably smart to avoid them for at least a game or two after they come back.

Giants | Brandon Crawford remains out of lineup

Fri, 11 Sep 2015 17:57:22 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford (back, oblique) is not in the starting lineup against San Diego Padres SP Andrew Cashner Friday, Sept. 11, but he appears close to returning. INF Ehire Adrianza will play shortstop and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Adrianza ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is batting .152 this season and is hitless in his last 17 at-bats, so he should be avoided at all costs in FantasyScore.

Giants | Brandon Crawford set for MRI

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 22:51:14 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford (calf) had an MRI on his injured calf, and he will be re-evaluated Friday, Sept. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Avoid Crawford ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) in FantasyScore until he can officially return and make it through a handful of games without any setbacks. Ehire Adrianza ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) will see more playing time until Crawford returns.
