Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland (shoulder) will come off the 60-day disabled list Aug. 20, and SP Colby Lewis (lat) will come off the 60-day disabled list Aug. 21, general manager Jon Daniels said Sunday, July 24.

Rangers | Derek Holland plays catch Friday

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 17:08:36 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland (shoulder) said he felt great after making 25 throws while playing catch Friday, July 8. He has not yet resumed throwing off a mound and no official timetable exists for his return.

Fantasy Tip: The 29-year-old southpaw is 5-5 with a 5.20 ERA through 14 starts this season and isn't worth stashing outside of AL-only and cavernous mixed fantasy leagues. DFS owners should also avoid using him until he can prove that he is both healthy and effective.

Rangers | Derek Holland not throwing yet

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 17:04:27 -0700

Updating a previous report, Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland (shoulder) has not yet resumed throwing, according to manager Jeff Banister. There is no official timetable for his return.

Fantasy Tip: Holland should not be viewed as anything more than a low-end starting option in AL-only and cavernous mixed fantasy leagues because of his high WHIP and low strikeout totals. The 29-year-old left-hander went 5-5 with a 5.20 ERA in 14 starts before landing on the disabled list two weeks ago.

Rangers | Derek Holland still not throwing

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 15:42:24 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland (shoulder) will play catch sometime this week. During his upcoming rehab assignment, Holland will work on eliminating some pronation with his wrist at the end of his fastball delivery that has led to a fastball that drifts back into the hitting zone and eliminating some of the "fall off" that he has in his delivery that may also lead to lack of command, according to pitching coach Doug Brocail.

Fantasy Tip: With a 5.20 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 5.3 K/9 this season, the pre-injury version of Holland wasn't overly fantasy relevant. Be careful of relying on him as anything more than a low-end option in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues. Stay tuned for updates.
